This is such a good video! I had the 17mm f1.8 and ended up selling it because of the glitchy manual focus. I moved through some other lenses and now have the 15mm. It’s not bad. Manual focus is pretty predictable.

@@pabloitare It's not linear so it's useless for filmmaker. Try keep in focus moving object and you will fail:)

Hey man, just wanted to say that I found your channel today when looking for reviews on this lens and ended up binge watching all your videos LOL. You just gained a new subscriber. Please keep it up, you have great comedic sense and your filmmaking in general is really pleasant. That "atmospheric" grading and retro style of editing are amazing. As someone who just got into filmmaking as a hobby, this is weirdly inspirational (grass might be greener on the other side, but maybe getting an engineering degree and grinding the corporate life might not have been the best idea :/ )
Anyway, thanks for putting this out and please keep making these!

So good. Please make more videos! I watched all of your videos 4-5 months ago when I was first deciding which lens setup to get for my recently purchased G85. Having watched tons of product reviews and tutorials... your are BY FAR the most entertaining while also being very informative. I did eventually choose this Olympus 17mm f1.8. I am using it mostly for talking head (of myself) and for videos of me playing trumpet. The setup works very well for me. Thank you!

How amazing would it be if Panasonic released a firmware update that lets you choose the gain of your focus ring? With the kit lens being focus by wire, I'd love to be able to focus from macro to infinity with like a quarter of a turn if I so choose

(also i use vnd or polarizer filters, both would be impractical if its behind the filter)

Great video! Quality is fresh. I also have a G85 and the Panasonic 25mm f1.7, 12-35mm f2.8, and Canon FD 50mm f1.4 with adapter for portraits. I use these for photos and videos. I saw a good deal on the Panasonic 15mm also, but that's a little too wide for my use cases. Been looking for something a little wider than the 25mm and this lens looks decent. Found one like new for $269.

I have Sigma 16mm. Not so great autofocus with GH5 and a nightmare for filmmakers. Try not focus on some shit. You gonna lose your mind. But great for photographers.

Great video! I'm currently trying to decide between buying the Olympus 17mm or the Laowa 17mm. So a Laowa review/comparison in the future would be awesome! (Plus I think you'd be the first to do it as I haven't seen a video comparing these 2 similar lenses anywhere)
