As Disneyland Paris Resort is my home park, I can say: nowadays the best rides are found at Walt Disney Studios Park! But theming is still king in Disneyland park

I think it's well worth mentioning that Paris' Disneyland Park was only a "Disaster" in the financial sense, and only at first. It's generally agreed it was a creative success; and most visitors apparently loved it from Day One, even though the larger community of locals hated its presence. Attendance and profits were definitely disastrous in the first several years. With time, the generation of locals that grew up with it warmed to it greatly, and I think it's very telling that with very few major additions, it has become a very well-attended, very well-liked, and somewhat profitable park. Granted, the same park build by any company with a shallower cash reserve than Disney would have seen their masterpiece get shuttered long ago, but there's an argument to be made that Disneyland Park was right and its critics were wrong.

WaveLength. so Disneyland Paris was hated by the community of locals and didn't want the park there. that is different when Disneyland in California opened people loved and still do to this day.. you would think people who live there and the surounding area would like it. seems cheaper then traveling over seas to California or Florida to visit the parks there.

You would THINK the reactions would be similar, but in California and Orlando the perception was more that these parks were the dream of American hero and visionary Walt Disney, whereas in Paris the perception was more that the park was an unwanted intrusion from loud, crass American culture (the truth of course being somewhere in the middle). The marketing and the adjustments for local culture were not great (compare to Tokyo where the Oriental Land Company had more control and arguably understood the local needs better). Even the locals who attended it in Paris really liked Disneyland Paris, but that was the set of people willing to give it a fair chance. It took time and new generations for resentment to fade away enough that most locals would give it a fair chance there - and thank goodness Disney had deep enough pockets to float it for that long.

With the 2024 extension this will finally be a full theme park. Disneyland park is still brilliant though.
If we look at the number of rides, they only add one with Frozen. All others are replacements. Even if Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge happens, that will only bring up that number to two. The park will be bigger, sure. But it'll still need more rides.
@@EspenSGX You do have a point. Aside from Frozen and Star wars it looks as though they will be expanding the toy story area as well. But if you think about it TOT, Crush, Ratatouille, Frozen, Star wars, Iron man is a pretty kickass set of primary attractions for a disney park. The lake will help as well. Obviously the park may still be a little bit light on smaller rides but it will actually be possible to spend a full day there now.
@@stearrow_3245 I have the suspicion that the Tram Tour rebuild to the Cars Tour is just a temporary ride. They could remove it properly later for the Slinky Dog rollercoaster or even better a full on Cars land. I think there's room enough for it between Toy Story land/Ratatouille and Frozen land. However, temporary rides at Disneyland Paris have the tendancy to become permanent. I'm talking about Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril, of course.
My issue with adding rides is not so much that I only want more rides, but that it's an operational thing. Wait times can get very high across the resort. It's just that more people have come to Disneyland Paris, but they haven't build extra rides to accommodate them.
i think the frozen area is also getting the mine cart ride also coming to Hong Kong but not sure.
@@EspenSGX That wouldn’t be a surprise considering they’ve cut the tram tour in half with it but I’m excited to see what they’ll do with the new theming and them finally using the Armageddon space again

Epcot has turned into a Disney version of an evening food truck and pub crawl for locals along with typical disney guests. The majority of guests seem to be cramming their faces with food and getting drunk while those with families may spend their time in the rides section of the park. So many of the attractions are old and tired and much of the park is torn up at the moment. However the new Guardians coaster and Ratatouille will keep the park full for the next few years. I was surprised by how many negative reactions people have had to the new Ratatouille ride.

- How did this park not open with a Dark Ride outside Rock N Rollercoaster?
- How did this cost $50 Million more dollars than Warner Bros. Movie World in Spain which opened the same year?
Disney's Imagineers are a stupidly expensive lot. Especially when compared to the budgets others can do equally great things with. Current and strong rumour is that the new Guardians of the Galaxy ride at Epcot is nearing that Walt Disney Studios price tag. That's just one ride!
Too much spent on rubbish 🤪 but as a kid I loved it and it’s turned itself around now really
I read somewhere (so yeah, not the most reliable statement ever, I know) that the cost of investments in Disney parks are massively inflated because of IP fees, as this is used to shift money around the different branches of the corporation without having to pay taxes on it. The various parks are structured as separate companies for legal and tax purposes, so if Bob Iger wants to withdraw the profit from their operations, the IRS will take their share of it. Instead, that money is not transferred to the parent company as a withdrawal of profit, but as internal billing. Say some Disney park spends $500 million to build a Snow White attraction. Building the attraction itself costs $150 million, while $350 million is paid between the park in question and Disney for the rights to use the Snow White intellectual property. This can even make it look like the park isn't generating a profit, because its costs apparently matches or exceeds its income, drawing further sympathy from the tax man.
$450 Million is very very cheap for a whole theme park. Tokyo Disneysea cost $3 Billion alone just for one theme park. Compare a $450M park to a $3B park and you can see why one looks very cheap compared to the other.
@@Lil_Angry_Bitch You can not compare those two parks, one beeing a super low-cost park and the other one posibily the greatest park ever created. The comparasion with fore example Movie World Madrid makes more sense. Actually I think Movie world, that cost less, is way better.
Hollywood studios in Florida was my favorite park for a long time. Rocking roller coaster, tower of terror, the muppet show, fantasmic, and the animation tour. I loved this park as a kid. It’s still one of my favorites. It’s sad that the Paris version was so lame.

What's worse in this instance is that they have to build the new park within the confines of the old, crappy plan. Had they planned things better from the get go, they might have had a much easier time with the expansion today.
The video also briefly mentions it, but I've gotta wonder out loud: Of the six Disney resorts out there, four feature multiple parks alongside the main Magic Kingdom-style park. At three of those resorts, the "extra" park was one of the cheap Studios-style parks built cheaply and in a rush. The fourth is Tokyo DisneySea, showing what the Imagineers can do when they're given lots of money and not told to copy stuff. One has to wonder what those "extra" parks would have looked like if built under those same circumstances. DisneySea and Animal Kingdom really stand as the only examples of Disney parks built for a decent budget outside the original formula (except Epcot, which was always a little strange). Wonder what the second gate at a Disney resort would look like if it were built today?
We have to wait and see if Hong Kong Disneyland or Shanghai Disneyland build a second gate in the coming years.
The oriental land company was financial responisble for Tokyo Disney sea. They paid the imagineers, the desgining and paid for all the building costs. Disney just delivered what ever they asked for. The Oriental land company did not care about money they just wanted the best of the best no matter the pricetag. That shows Disney is capable of anything as long the are willing to pay for it.

We have also seen that Disney has been willing to spend big money on whole parks in the past, but those "money is no objection" park investments have always gone towards Magic Kingdom-style parks for various reasons. Unfortunate circumstances have caused most of the secondary parks to be underfunded "Studios" parks, with Tokyo DisneySea as the lone exception because of the Oriental Land Company. One could only wonder what the other secondary parks would have looked like if they had been funded with the same kind of budget. Tokyo DisneySea is the only point of reference we even have.
Erlend Andenæs It is a resort destination, so the Major “Castle park” must be on point. because that is the main reason all those people go there in the first place. When the guests are already at the resort they don’t care to pay Some extra for a secundary park. They are there anyways. I have been at Both US resorts once and multiple times in Paris and the secundary park in Paris is so so bad it is just a Money grab. Not the Disney feeling at all. Quality of the Other park is very high and the studio park feels so cheap
@@dimk520: Yes, but that is not to say they were intended to be sloppy from the get go. All of the three "low-budget" secondary parks had their production process complicated by external factors. Disney's Hollywood Studios was built hastily to beat Universal Studios to the punch in Florida. Disney Studios Paris was built mostly out of contracual necessity, with its budget severely reduced because Disneyland Paris was bleeding money and Disney's park division needed to save whatever they could. For the same reason, California Adventure was built on the cheap and Animal Kingdom got brutally downscaled. Hong Kong Disneyland also suffered from severe budget cuts, resulting in a much smaller park than those in Paris or Tokyo.
Or in other words, the reason why so many of the secondary parks feel so cheap is because they were built at a time when Disney couldn't really afford any better. The poor performance of EuroDisney impacted the whole company for more than a decade, forcing them to build those other parks for much less than originally planned. I really wonder what it would have been like if that hadn't happened. Tokyo DisneySea suggests we missed out on a lot of great stuff.
Disneyland paris is my 'home' disney park and all my family members disliked this park so we usually ended up only getting day tickets for the magic kingdom style park. They totally disregarded this park. Five years ago we first flew to Florida to see Disney World. But instead of planning to see all four theme parks our minds were only set on seeing the Magic Kingdom as the other parks were probably rubbish anyways. It was only when we got to the ticket booths that I suggested we try the other parks as well and we were absolutely blown away. Had we only visited the Magic Kingdom we would perhaps have even been a little disappointed as I don't think it is that much better than the Disneyland Paris park. Luckily we did visit all four theme parks and Animal Kingdom became my #1 theme park in the world.
After that we visited California and visited California Adventure park and thank god we visited after the expansion of that park because when I look at the history of that park it looked absolutely awful. I really loved the cars land and the grizzly bear area. Next we visited Japan and now the tables were completely turned. We started out visiting Disney Sea, which still got labelled 'The Second Park' by my family members but everyone was stunned. What an amazing theme park that is. And the Japanese are just the absolute most adorable people walking around with their duffy bears. The following day we attended Tokyo Disneyland and we found it a bit disappointing when compared to Paris or Florida. Still this park was great! The rides were phenomenal and Pooh's Honey Hunt became one of my favorite rides ever.
Currently we are planning a second trip (for 2021 or 2022) to California to see Galaxy's Edge.

I rode the studio tour 2 years ago. My whole family fell asleep and the most recent movie poster was 102 Dalmatians
I have been on the Universal Studios Hollywood tram ride and it was fantastic because you visited so many iconic movie sets and it was the real thing and I would give it 5 stars. I recall riding the Hollywood Studios Orlando tram years ago and being not very impressed but at least there were some noticeable movie props and a streets had recognizable false fronts of homes from famous sitcoms like the Golden Girls and Empty nest. The difference being that one is a Movie Museum of actual artifacts while other tram rides are just fake tram rides with mostly fake props and artifacts.
Tram tour is boring I agree but now they replaced it with a cars theme which is a bit better

I love the sarcasm here! Disneyland Paris is my home park, and I'm so glad it's getting an expansion. WDS 1.0 makes DCA 1.0 look like a great park. What confuses me the most is that if you only want to do the Studios park, you're still paying just as much as when you're only visiting Disneyland park (€95). To be honest, I actually like Studio 1 a lot. And Crush's Coaster is so good... if you want to wait for 75 minutes in a queue where only the last 10 minutes of queue are themed.

@@jaydenchrist6152 I just wish we'd get a NEW coaster...ever. And when I say new I don't mean a new ZacSpin. Freeze is the standout steel coaster, but it doesn't pack the re-rideability that I want from a home park.
I know everyone wants to RMC Boss but I'm not convinced it has the layout for a top-tier RMC. I'd take a raptor but I'm not quite sure where to stick it. I'm afraid that it would cost us Ninja/Mine Train. Not that a lot of people would miss Ninja, but I appreciate having an Arrow (even if it's only half an Arrow). Maybe they could take out Joker and the arcade and that show building and squeeze it next to Batman, or up by Screamin Eagle since Tidal Wave's gone now.
The gangster attraction sounds cool but glad DHS ended up getting Tower of Terror. The ride provides great views as you drop and scream. Best hotel around! Imagine if they built GMR for Paris, then it would probably still exist today while its FL counterpart was turned into Runaway Railway
It amazes me they ever thought the Dick Tracy franchise was worthy of a major attraction. The Tower of Terror in Orlando is a masterpiece and every time I go through the line I am amazed by how much thought and money they put into making it look like a real hotel with huge grounds and gardens and features. I have been waiting in line at neighboring attractions and people would strike up a conversation to talk about just how impressive the building is and how detailed everything is. They would look up at it with dreamy eyes.
BTW the Runaway railway is still very popular with first time riders but repeat riders ... not so much.
And still to this day it is a total disaster ... I'm an annual pass holder at DLP and I only go to the studio like twice a year, after visiting WDW and Hollywood studio in Florida I can clearly see how terrible it is.

This mistake had also a huge impact on the main park. As they had to add new rides to studio park, they let disneyland park without any new ride.
Last ride added was Buzz in 2006 .... So yes, we got rethemed attraction, but no new ride, wich is very sad.

Oh how I miss the tram tour, The Great Movie Ride and the Sorcerer hat :( Movie magic has been slowly dying and practical effects/hand drawn movies have been completely replaced by CG that doesn't age well and contains no life or magic. It truly breaks my heart.
This park isn't even that bad. You have to view it as a support for the main park. Not as a standalone.

I love the expansions in the sense that the park reallllllly needed improvements, but it seems like each park is getting a frozen, star wars, marvel, repeat, treatment. I don't know, I guess it just doesn't seem very unique to me.
As a Parisian I can say that even if the park’s theming sucked, the rides made up for it

Loved the video but as an european I just can't completely agree.
I've been to Disneyland Paris several times, being the first time when I was 4 (2000's) and the park was lovely even then (Maybe not as cool as the others but absolutely worthy).
I dont know how other countries see it but in Spain, for example, every single kid wants to go there and, actually, most of them go at least once, even if it's in a different country.

Mean Mad Mike yup! Locals, like myself, avoid the Hollywood area because it’s beyond tacky. They are like those tourists traps in the middle of nowhere.
I visited Disneyland Paris for the first time in November 2002. I remember being in awe of lots of it... but it was most definitely a half day park. We went back on the third day before leaving to ride rocking roller-coaster twice before we left. Studio one was great for keeping warm during the cold months.
Then to my surprise- 2005 I landed a job there (im from UK) and I got to see the inner workings of the park. I fell in love with it... and its shortcomings. I left end of 2006, and didn't visit again until 2012... wow it had evolved. And again in 2017. Now has a small street and some great theamin.... im just hoping Covid doesn't put a dampener on the massive plans - it so needs this last push of love!!
People can say all they want about how bad WDS was when it opened but I will always remember my first visit very fondly. I visited a week after opening, and I loved it. I have been working in the film industry for 5 years now and I appreciate the original WDS all the more. As fake as it may look, it's really realistic, you just can't tell how bad it looks in a movie because of the distance, the framing and the action taking your attention away from the bad details. Personnaly I'm fed up with Disney putting IP based attractions everywhere, I would have loved an updated version of the original WDS instead of Marvel, Star Wars and Frozen...

You guys honestly make the best theme park content on UA-cam. As a Brit it's great to see some non-American parks featured.
I actually quite enjoyed Walt Disney Studios Park when I visited it in early 2017, however less than 12 months later I visited Tokyo DisneySea and was like "Ah. Now I see why people think WDSP isn't up to standard..."
Tokyo Disney sea is rubbish. Not even owned by Disney and they just ruined their Toy Story land and calling it toy ville trolley park which is an absolutely weird and cringe name and the land doesn’t even feel Toy Story and plus they need a few more rides there like maybe the toy soldier parachute drop and maybe a motorcycle coaster themed to duke caboom or something. I just hope fantasy springs saves the park
as a disneyland Paris lover this was a fantastic video! Made me realise I went into WDS the year it opened!
Also the fact that rockin' rollercoaster is just being rethemed and not removed completely has made me so happy, it was the first 'scary' rollercoaster i've went on so it's nice to not see it go!
The only thing I remember from the Studios Park in Paris, is that my mom & I waited too long for that Nemo attraction, while my dad and my sister went to multiple shows.
18:10 I thought you were almost going to say... *"once Bob Iger took over for Michael Scott",* because he almost looks like Steve Carrell, from the side... that, and Disney really messed up in making Michael Scott-like mistakes, with their theme parks. 🤣
Imagine this, instead of a bunch of individual half day parks spread across the planet, they were combined together to make whole day parks. Example: California Adventure opens with Disney Studios as effectively a land within California adventure. It’s brings some of the film and Hollywood to a more relevant location, and both at the very least give a solid foundation to improve, and at the best both compliment each other well enough that people stick around longer to enjoy all the offerings of the single larger park.
TL:DR, 2 half day parks could make a full day, maybe???

While Be Our Guest at Disney World I'm sure is a great dining experience, that model of the castle really is... Well, it's meh.

As someone that used to work on film projects, MGM studios had the right idea when they opened up in 89 but poorly executed, who wants to do a shoot with a tour coming through every few minutes. Universal was smart by having the sound stages separate from the parks and didn't really offer any tours with the exception of 18 and 19. Universal does or did have the largest broadcasting studio's in Florida 18, 19, and 21 and usually have other services that MGM did not have. (I was lucky enough to work in all three studio's at one time or another) When Georgia released their film incentive back in the late 2000's. It pretty much killed the Florida industry... it is even killing Hollywood.
Great video. From my experience WDS was awful when it initially opened but got better over the years with addition of Tower of Terror, Crush's and Ratatouille meaning it now has some great attractions. Theming though is still awful (apart from Place du Remy) where I naturally gravitate to when I'm in the the studious. Restaurants are terrible though the shows are good especially Mickey and the Magician. The expansion should make a huge difference, I'm so looking forward to seeing Backlot transformed into Avengers Campus. The lake and Arendelle will make the biggest difference though as it will give the park for 1st time green spaces and a body of water so I'm optimistic for its future provided it's not scuppered by COVID.
P. S. At least WDS is better than any UK park

I’ve been to blackpool pleasure beach that was amazing but Walt Disney studios is definitely better it’s one of my favourite places to go.
Tbh I really love the direction this park is taking in the future, and it has the chance of becoming one of the favorites. The theming is improving highly, the attractions are already great and way more appealing to teens and adults than the mainland. My favorite rides are in this park and I can't wait for them to conclude the new expansion! :)
I actually liked how Studio 1 looked. I've only ever been to Walt Disney Studios in 2012, and even then I found it to be lackluster compared to the Disneyland park.
I went here last summer and needless to say it was...an experience? It reminds me of the early days of DCA but worse. This park doesn’t know what to be so it’s everything. I seriously don’t get this park at all.

As Tokyo residence, I appreciate Oriental Land (Tokyo Disney’s management company) to say “NO” to bring Disney’s Studio idea to Disney Sea, then decide to make something original.
I am so glad OLC say “NO” to Toy Stories’ land and Star Wars’ Galaxy’s Edge. They look amazing now, but you know, they would decay as the same as the Aerosmith’s Rock N Roll Coaster.
OLC took the unbuilt concept of Port Disney, expanded on it and made it amazing.

I have so many great memories in this park, was there opening day as a kid. Been there many times as Both a child and adult but yes it’s not the best but I still have so many great memories within the park ! Can’t wait for what Disney does to improve it
Eisner always has such a smarmy, grating, unpleasant screen presence, in _every_ promotional shoot he rammed himself into… and there were _tons!!_ I’m surprised no one had the clout to firmly tell him “No Mike, you’re not the next Walt - in fact, you’re making children cry!” before locking him out of sight in his corner suite. There’s Uncle Walt… but then there’s try-hard stepdad Mike, who Mom married in desperation before she turned 40; that’s the vibe Eisner gives off.

The theme was Hollywood, but they seemed to ignore all of their own movies. They could have had several dark rides featuring old Disney movies (Herbie the Love Bug, etc.), but they went cheap and uninteresting instead. What happened to their imagination?

With the exception of Euro Disney, looks like the Disney parks which cost the most money are the ones that Disney did not have to pay for.

Reign of Fire wasn't mostly forgotten..... Mostly...... I own the DVD of that movie and..... It was a pretty cool Idea of a Movie set in a Post-Apocalyptic world where instead of Zombies.... It's Dragons.

I'm not sure about Paris. But the Disney Tokyo is only only Disney by name. The care and quality control was done by a separate entity. I would argue that that was a bad comparison.
I’m definitely going in 2024 for the expansion. Hopefully things will get better soon.
I went in 2018 and it made me very nostalgic for the original mgm Orlando, with lights motor action and blacklot tours
I miss the fireworks show and even the Indiana Jones show even though it is old and tired. It is a tradition to see it on every visit and it burns up a couple of hours both waiting in line and seeing the show.
This is the most accurate description of this park I’ve ever seen. This most disappointing Disney park I’ve ever been to, thus far, and it’s a shame because I really enjoyed Disneyland Paris for its beauty and theming. This one really just is phoned in and very apparent

As DLP is my "home" Disneyland resort, here's my two cents on the Studios.
I'll say up front, the park is lackluster and inferior to its larger neighbour in any regards.
Studio 1 is conceptually good in the sense of weather. If there's lots of rain, there's a large covered area that isn't an attraction's queue.
I've experienced the decline of the Tram Tour. The first years, it actually had multiple audio tracks for multiple languages featuring famous actors who spoke the languages. People were queued up based on their language. The Dutch version was done by Famke Janssen. But this disapeared over time and only English and French remained. Over the years, you saw parts and pieces disappear. And most notably, the relevance of the entire Tram Tour evaporated as time went by. Nobody remembered the referenced movies and series, especially the younger crowds. The closure seems only logically to be honest. The disaster canyon will live on in a Cars themed ride.
Restaurants are poorly handled here. Where in Disneyland, you'll find at least one restaurant in each land, here it's either inside Studio 1 or in the Backlot area. But lot's of times, the Backlot eating facilities were closed.
The 2 stage shows (Animagic and the movie themed one) were good. But they don't exist anymore today. They seem to swap out shows every now and then. Even utilizing one of the show buildings to preview upcoming films by showing clips 🙄
I loved the Armageddon ride (although the preshow became tedious if you've done this attraction a couple of times).
For me, movies in general lose their relevance as a theme. Animated movies mostly stand the test of time better than live action. Animations create nostalgia and you'll be showing it to your kids in return, making it relevant to several generations (my sister's actually doing this with her kids, now that Disney+ has become available in Belgium).
I know they added attractions over time, but in the beginning, if you did every ride and show, you'd be getting a full day out of it though. Time here was mostly spent at the shows.
All this being said, if you take the combi tickets, it's not too bad to have this park as an "extra". Park hopping is allowed. But just buying a ticket to visit this park alone is not recommended.
I am looking forward to the Arendelle and Batuu expansions though!

@@5q1d87 Don't know the exact reason, but they have been real bussy touching up a lot of the attractions for the last years. So I would guess that was the reason. Also, I think they have added some more Cars decorations across from Crush's Coaster.

The only show I remember seeing using the MGM backlot was Mortal Kombat Conquest. One of the sound stages as part of a walking tour would show the town prominently featured in the show.
And Sheena used the zoo part of Animal Kingdom often when they needed to look more jungl-y.

Excellent, and frankly not too harsh no matter what some may say. But the oblique references to the "contract obligation" to build a second gate deserve more context, so let's look at the REAL reason why "Euro-Disney" (as it was first named) was such an expensive flop for so long---they put it in the wrong country. Originally Disney was seriously considering Spain for lots of reasons--better financial incentives from the govt., much better and more reliable weather, and cheaper real estate PLUS much less employee tension because France is FAMOUS for their contentious and strike-prone unions. But France waved more money at Disney and that plan changed, offered the transit links to Paris, and more because the French saw Disney as part of their larger plan to actually build several (five, I think was the original plan) "satellite" towns around the Paris area to try to relieve the in-city congestion and crazy real estate prices of living in the capitol vs. commuting from, for example, Marne-La-Vallee, the Disney location. BUT...to do this, they insisted that Disney form a corporation IN France which had to be on the European stock exchanges and have much French ownership, kind of the worst of BOTH worlds compared to the Oriental Land pure license agreement in Japan. A big part of that later investment of multi-millions that you failed to point out was the eventual purchase OF those locally-owned shares to give Disney actual control over the park legally and financially, which gave them more autonomy than they ever had when it opened. That plus the major Imagineering downsizing that, as you showed, affected parks in the US as well (NOT DisneySea because the Japanese insisted on spending the dollars needed to do it right) gave the results you pointed out. One more thing: The "Earful Tower" was clearly a ripoff of the famous Warner Bros. Studios Burbank tower (made more famous to the world in the Animaniacs cartoons) and that whole "studio gate" look was a rip of the standard Universal park look which, in turn, was stolen in style from the real life Paramount studios "Gower Gate" so....such is the imitative nature of the "just shy of copyright violation" activity in this business. It is to be remembered as well that when Disney-MGM was first done, the reason for bringing MGM into the deal was to gain live-action film IP to base attractions on, something the Disney library was short on blockbusters of the kind the MGM portfolio had. SO a lot of the European Disney Studios park seems "empty" because, well, as you said--without EITHER lots of famous and beloved live-movie IP to draw on NOR any real shooting on site, there isn't a lot left but concrete and signage. Too bad.
Spain probably would have been as worse as France. I mean, look at the state of Parc Warner Madrid, which isn't even known to most of Europe, and former Universal park Port Avontura, which is a hodge podge of stuff and already has the overpriced second ticket Ferrari Land and just last week they got massive criticism for a third ticket park based on football.
No, going with quality in Europe the Netherlands or Germany would have been the best place for it. Maybe even Belgium to get out of the way of Efteling in the Netherlands and Phantasialand and Europa Park in Germany. But hey, you've got to have hot weather!

There was nothing wrong with the park itself. They make 2 big mistakes. 1) Build it in France. 2) prices way too high for Europe's standards at that time.
@@MrCityfm France was the best option, spain is only visited by tourist during the summer, France and especially Paris is having a constant flow of tourism, Disney can only blame themselves because they though that European would behave like people in florida, which wasnt the case.
I knocked out the entire park in a morning. And it was busy.
I could also lightly job from the front gate to the back of the park in about 20 seconds.
Personally, I love Moteurs Action. since I played and still play Stuntman on PS2 which puts you in the drivers seat of great Hollywood car chases
Really don’t understand the hate for the entrance to the Walt Disney Studios Park, sure the park itself isn’t great but the entrance is great! It’s exactly what a studios should be!
In my opinion they should’ve opened the Frozen and Star Wars lands before they touched Rock’N’Roller Coaster just to bring in people. I also hope that they have a world of colour/Epcot style night time show on that new lake though that’d be awesome 😍
Disneyland Paris had a good attendance from the start. The issue was mainly that there were too many hotels and they were half empty.
and now it seems like those ambitious plans are cancelled... sigh
The problem with both Hollywood Studios in FL and Paris is that they are not actual movie studios its just another theme park I feel like they're better off just turning this parks into either marvel or Pixar theme parks, sort of whats going in in DCA over in CA

Worst. Disney. Park. Ever! The opening day attraction menu made DCA’s 2001 menu look as glorious as DisneySea’s. Went here once and never again.
Even with the new additions over the years, it wasn’t enough to bring guests.
Tower of Terror? DHS has the superior tower with the 5th Dimension.
Ratatouille Adventure? A great, unique attraction but Epcot is getting it so it’s less reason to travel to Disneyland Paris.
Even future projects can’t catch a break:
Galaxy’s Edge? Well it’s a smaller version than what Disneyland and DHS got.

I feel bad, but this park, more than any other, continues feels like a second hand Disney park.

To me, it's just downright embarassing to see so many cheap and penny pinched attractions and theme parks in the late 90's and the early 2000's from Disney, the kings of quality entertainment and theme parks. I have an imaginary list of the piles of failures for the Disney company and most where from this time period. I get that Disneyland Paris lost a ton of money and it wasn't the company's fault over Frank Weil's death but anything new from the company in the late 90's and early 2000's just pinched too many pennies and if you remember that imfamous quote from Hotel Mario "When you pinch Wendy's pennies, they pinch back!" meaning that if you try to save money and cut budgets, it will still cost you extra for lack of creativity and imersion and still have loss of reputation and even worse, more loss of profits.
I really liked the black lot tour. All those classic props.

There where several reasons why WDP never became a succes. 1. Would have been much better in Spain (weatherwise), 2. All atractions where mainly in French (although France is a very popular destination, tourist don't visit France for Theme Parks or to speak French), 3. No friendly staff and had no idea what WD Magic meant (probably never had a decent training) and the MGM Film studio was only 1 fart big. No themed areas and had nothing to do with Disney anyway. In Europe theme parks are not a part of our culture as a "WDW once in your lifetime must do" is to americans. Even future plans will probably never give the boost they expect.
I have been in this park, after Disney World, and we could feel that something is missing.
I had no idea this park even existed and I live in Orlando and have been to the WDW parks (including MGM/HS) a zillion times
totally random, barely related comment! But I’ve sat at animation lightboard desks from the Disney Florida studio. Ringling College bought some of them when they shut down and we have them in one of the classrooms :) so at least that’s something preserved from one of the places mentioned in the video!
I remember visiting in 2002 as a kid, being so hyped, and doing everything in the park... and then we'd be done by 4. Paying full price for that experience was NOT worth it. there's only so many times you can re-ride Rock'n'rollercoaster. Important to note though that Disney realised that and your ticket would give you access to Disneyland from 5, free of charge.

A good walkthrough ride for Walt Disney Studios would be their old shows! Where's the walkthrough set for Hannah Montana? Wizards of Waverly Place? Where's the hotel for The Tiipton Hotel form Suite Life of Zack and Cody? A backlot or studio tour themed to replicas of sets from the High School Musical trilogy would be great. The thing with Disney is they tend to cash in on their movies, forgetting that they made GREAT series that are now being looked at with nostalgia. Haha.

I will never forgive the French for how they treated Disneyland paris.
That time they opened a second Disneyland across from the real Disneyland but second Disneyland didn't have real rides and was just a carnival. You're competing with your own Disneyland and you make a Californian-style boardwalk carnival.. IN CALIFORNIA?
Half of California Adventure could be replaced with something better. Some is good. The art exhibit, performance theater, and the real rides they have like Soaring, Tower of not Terror, and Grizzly Rapids. The CEO of Pixar became the CEO of Disney and made himself a Pixarland is what happened.
They're slowly improving it by adding Disney-style attractions. Not thrilled about another not-Disney IP in the park (Marvel) but since they're going to do it then they better do it right and have a variety of thrilling dark rides. Can't imagine how Marvelland is going to look in 15 years when the superhero fad is over.
The Studio parks would have probably been better served being parks themed to Hollywood's golden era aimed at teens and young adults. The Paris park was a mistake but one that made sense to make, but the Studio parks where just a mistake in how they where handled.
The park is great. The mistake was the location.

Disney-MGM Orlando fired me abruptly in 1995. I'm glad they lost money. I haven't been back to a Disney park since, with the exception of EPCOT, which did a stellar turn-of the-century party from 1998-2000. Since then I've spent time in the military, gotten two college degrees, been in a state mental institution and had over 60 shock treatments. Was it worth it? Being fired did seem to kick off everything that came later. I dunno.
