When I talked to KK back in 2008, I asked why he wasn't using Serato or similar stuff. He told me : "I need to feel the Vinyl in (and under) my hands". That's why you should only see "All Vinyl Sets". Fantastic DJ Kid Koala... A true head, a master, an example for all DJs!!! Respect
QBert uses vinyls that transmit a signal to dj software and gives the same feel with any track on your computer. It's not the technology, it's what you do with it.
Dude man I gotta say youre a true one in these days. Remember seeing you back at roots n blues festival many moons ago as a kid. Left a real imprint on me.
I actually came up with the idea to do a routine just like Koala's "Drunk Trumpet" routine, 5 years before I ever saw him do it, back in 1995, but I didn't have the guts to try and put something together back then, because it was just too different to what everyone else was doing. Then I saw him do his routine, at the 2000 DMC World final, where he performed after the battle, and I kicked myself.
i was lucky enough to see him on tour with deltron 3030. he opened with about a 30-45min solo dj set. blew my fucking mind just how melodic his style was. he really has an emotional quality to his turntablism, which is so unique. i really hope this art doesnt die
Saw KK at SXSW in 2007 - is this that performance? (Ok, after watching a few minutes I know it's not the perf I saw, but I also know artists play many perfs at SXSW, so my question is: is it 2007?) Still have and use the cooking apron he was selling as merch at that show!
wait were the fuck is his laptop how is he doin this with out watching the screen thats not real djing if hes hiding the laptop wats up with all these new djs hiding the laptop s

Easily top three acts across all genres I've seen live. Dude is a true master of his craft.
to see him lay out his own unique solo is so fucking cool. Truly using the turntable as an instrument
There's a reason why he worked on the great album Deltron 3030. KK is a friggen dj god.

J-Boogie Brown “your fear of looking stupid is holding you back” I always think of that when I feel like something is too out there to be done.
So good. Great video too!

The second song,,is it Emiliana Torrini}
It is indeed
Reminds me of the Key & Peele scat duel skit.
song from 10:10? thanks
Hey man, would love to use some of your footage for a short doc on Kid Koala for CBC Arts! Sent you an email as well. Hit me up to discuss. Thanks!
The next time someone tries and tells you "DJs aren't musicians"... this.
How come any time Koala plays live they film the audience more than him?
What's the song starting at the 4 minute mark?
I know this is 7 years after you asked, but it's "Gun" by Emilíana Torrini.
@@MattChampion Nice man, thanks
