- In an unexpected turn of events, we have had to haul Ragdoll out of the water due to a leaky seacock we noticed as we were leaving Lochranza.. This week, we walk you through the replacement of the seacock with a new Trudesign one - enjoy! If you have any questions, leave us a comment below! :)
Who are we?
We are a family of three with three dogs, sailing the coasts of Scotland, exploring one island at a time - for now! There is no set route or plan. We will go where the wind and life take us. We have two golden retrievers and a bernese mountain dog - Hachi, Luna and Meems who sail with us. We sail on a 1995 Gib’Sea 472 who we are in the process of refitting, making our own and preparing for a big adventure.

Omg, we are dying, you two are hysterical 🤣 😂 . I now have a snorkle hung up in our heads 🤿 🤣
Hahahaha! It's honestly a must if one is to live with Chris....
Real sea dogs ! Beautiful
They really do make the trip! :)
Btw, we love our Trudesigns. Great explanation of how you fitted it.
Lovely boat interior.
Pooches are gorgeous 😍 🐾😍🐾
We love ours. We've had no issues with them since and will be installing more as we replace our old seacocks. It's so sturdy! Thank you kindly! :)
Beautiful dogs ! The sea cock should be directly on the through hole with no additional parts ! The elbow is a bad choice , also bronze though holes are better and stronger! But it’s done and it should be ok if you don’t use it for any storage space !
When I saw the elbow before the valve I thought that goes against the recommendation of trudesign the company. “Bronze is better” is old thinking. Look at what everyone is pulling out of their boats - bronze. With the collar composite is just as strong.
Well… each to their own but thanks for watching!
You gusy are so lucky the dogs can run around freely!!! I always have to tie Jackson up on a long line somewhere because he goes exploring and everyone in the boatyard is scared of him lol... or, one time in Greece we found him chasing Goats out the back of the boatyard... In Tunisia, we just had to rent an airbnb because there was about 30 street dogs living in that boatyard lol... This year we're heading to Grenada, oh boy, i wonder what excitment he will bring us this year in Grenada...... lol
It is helpful that they can do their thing and (for the most part) be trusted. I mean, they have come back smelling of fish or anti fouling many times but… take the good with the bad 😂
Jackson is a big boy so I can imagine people are scared.. but only if they knew the truth 😂 We get that with Mimsy sometimes because she sounds like an old man bear when she barks and she loves barking as she approaches you in the most happy tail wagging manner 🙄
We’re lucky that in the UK we generally don’t have stray dogs, they’re far and few between but it is something we’re bearing in mind for when we leave soon. Not looking forward to that particular aspect!
Our boatyard is enclosed at the moment and our dogs are too chicken to go too far away from us so in worst case scenario, we just see Hachi cruising about like a lunatic a mile out at sea 😂
The joys of sailing with dogs, huh? 😂
Haha, well done for winning daria , love a good competitive monopoly game 😅 can’t wait till we continue fitting all of our seacocks, thx for the great explanation 🙌
Thanks Rachel! It was only ever going to go one way 😂
Hope the video was helpful! Look forward to seeing your progress!
Is that the yard at Rosneath, i loaded a excavator onto a barge there years ago if it is , and at silvers yard .
It is indeed 😄 thanks for watching!
I'd be so nervous of having any kind of opening below the waterline if I had a boat so I'll just stick to dry land. :-) Good job though.
We were certainly nervous going back in, unsure as to whether it was all going to actually stay dry - thankfully it did!
It felt like the longest day, but certainly beats the water that was dripping in from the old handle! 😂 After pouring out a few cups of salt water out of the compartment, it was time to come out of the water and replace it! 😬
