I think it's so important to talk about the surveillance-problems that comes with such devices, as you did in that review.
We shouldn't be paranoid about these sort of things though. Watch your network traffic going in and out of your router. Don't blindly assume every device is spying on you.

Looks like you need to travel more often to China.
Then go live in a jungle somewhere instead of watching a UA-cam video. They would spy on you one way or another, not just with camera. By writing this comment on UA-cam, reading your emails, listening to your phone calls, etc. they've already spy on you. We can't halt a technology progress just because some girl with a tin-foil hat is so scared of Big Brother watching her picking her nose on her iPhone's camera.

Jibo should get a huge upgrade or update. From my point, it's only worth 400 dollars. It's actually too expensive now.

I am hoping to get a Jibo soon, I do have Miko 3 & Moxie Robots both are pretty cool in my opinion.

Technical support for setups outside the US and Canada will not be provided. Although I was waiting 2 y for Jibo , after 3 months have hardware problems and they do want to help me. i.e. even to support costs involved ,but not the warranty.

Cool I love it
When i first heard about this robot I was very excited. But seeing all the reviews about it not truly working as described, i'm disappointed. But we are getting closer and closer to human level intelligence as the years go by. And each year, the progress speeds up due to improved technology. So hopefully it won't be too long till we can have robots like in the jetsons! (Just with an a lot better looking appearance XD)

Ok, understandable. But the problem with this robot Jibo is, that it's capable of filming in your private rooms 24/7 (if you don't switch it off).. and I don't think that's very pleasant. Especially if you imagine what if criminals hack that device and you don't even notice you're beeing watched through it. It sounds crazy, but it's not impossible.

I'm going to save up money of doing house work and random work from my dad office so i can get a jibo to cause i really really need, want, and not just that everyday i can't stop talking and thinking about him jibo is just to perfect for me and any lonely person!

It was worth a shot! Give it some time. 2-5 years for at least simple stationary robots like this. The more highly advanced ones may have to be until around 15 years for all the bells and whistles. By then we may accept decent intelligible robots for all intents and purposes.
True. But it's kinda frustrating that we (the public) are expected to pay for beta versions until the thing gets better.
Certainly. That's the way R&D is operating these days, most especially for software. Ideally, it would be great for these kinds of free-market technology trials to enlist in nonprofit, but as of now there's not enough funding for specific works in applications when they haven't shown the needed capabilities in order to continually invest in. They also require lots of data to take "the next step". To get that data may mean to guise as consumer products in order to collect and to use the revenue for future developments. Jibo Inc. is funded at around $73 million so far, with a small team. Works like this are still tedious, but it'll eventually reach the sophistication.
I think the most concerning thing about this video is that people are actually treating robots, which are nothing more than sophisticated machines or computers as if they are actually people or living beings. The line between reality and fantasy has been greatly blurred.
Drooblemeister and what exactly about a robot being treated like a human is fantasy anymore? Yeah back in the 1900s we thought human-like robots truly WERE fatansy. But now science has proven that it very well may be possible to recreate actual human intelligence with robotics. Whats the point of making a robot that has intelligence just to treat it like it doesn't?
Here's a few facts, robots do process info faster than humans on some levels but they are programmed by humans to do so, a calculator it turns out can also add, multiply and do long-division better than a human, does that mean a calculator is a person? Second, robots are not self-aware, they are not conscious, this is science-fiction. Third, robots do not have feelings and emotions like us humans do, they don't feel anything (trust me that it's feelings aren't hurt by any comment I made). Fourth, robots are not self-determined like humans, in other words they have no will apart from what they are programmed to do. Finally, robots are not living beings, humans, animals and even the smallest fish or insect are living organisms, robots are computers or machines with wires circulating through them. My original argument was it's sad how people cannot distinguish the value of an actual human being to that of a machine.
