  • Streetscape performs to “Smile” by One Way on The Don Harron Show (1984).
    - No copyright infringement intended -
    Formed in Calgary, Alberta by Colin “Steamboat” Bloudoff, Streetscape was a pioneering Canadian group instrumental in introducing Popping, Boogaloo and Funk Styles to Canada between 1982-1985. Streetscape quickly grew from local and regional success to become the foremost street dance troupe of its kind to be exposed coast to coast on a national platform. Known for a combination of funk styles, upbeat presentation, and tight precision, Streetscape co-created and starred in Canada’s premiere street dance theater production “Taking It To The Streets”, revolutionized how corporate fashion shows were presented, and were featured on numerous award shows, commercials, TV specials and more.
    Founding members were: Colin “Steamboat” Bloudoff, Wayne “The Saint” Headley, Paul “Ripple” Lewis, and Bradley “Breakin’ Brad” Rapier. When not moving together as a synchronized unit, Colin was most known for his locking and footwork, Wayne for his popping, Paul for his waves and floats, and Bradley was the breaker.
    This performance featured the legendary Boogaloo Sam (founder of The Electric Boogaloos). Sam traveled up to dance with Streetscape for a number of performances that year after a recommendation from his brother, dance legend Popin Pete, and close friend Roderick Calhoun (RIP). Streetscape was honored to have Sam perform with them.

    Man when I was a kid, these guys and the Lockers were my favorite guests on the talk shows. Imagine a bunch of Midwestern farm kids trying to learn these moves out in front of the barn, our parents thought we were hilarious

    • @roastofsparta
      @roastofsparta Місяць тому

      @@Enter_Zoneless Popping and Locking are considered funk styles, they were literally conceived to funk and soul music. Also it's a good way to differentiate them from street dances (e.g. Breaking, Hip Hop). To say it is all "street dance" is a bit ignorant of their origin stories and connection to music.

    Streetscape... When I grow up can I be a Locker! If you do watch their is moves and compare it to any of the Lockers you'll see a big difference. Lockers more polished and one move flows into the next. Watch their moves in the sinclair and not the moving in a group and itd clear.
