    Everything was against me watching this at release. Tough jobs... wacky schedule... I powered through and made it home on time to grill some ribeye steaks. I'm catching up now.
    Happy Meta Monday VC!!! Happy 4th of July!!!

    These kind of slows grinds are tough for high IQ, high functioning dudes like VC, I was dying watching paint dry as well, but couldn’t look away, pure torture. Amazing he didn’t hurt himself waiting. Those two hits on the caps with zero % chance was out of sheer exhaustion of waiting.

    Oh god red not knowing how to cardblock and green being a bad sportsman really dragged out this game, but you pulled through with the win. Can I even say it was a good game?

    In a game like this, where you produce 45 and the opponent produces 25 but has a capital. Would this be a drawn end game? No matter how long you outproduce them, they will have just over half of the troops you have. Which will always be enough to stop you having a high percentage roll on their capital.

    How has red got so far without having the slightest idea about cardblocking

      Yes long ones are good too. Oh wait... I didn't mean that like that. But long videos of risk are fun too!🙂

    This reminds me of my first ranked game of Risk. I didn't know how the slider worked so on a fortify my cap ended up with a 2 on it, and then my cap was immediately taken on I think the second turn. I played the whole game off cap until the very end when I was able to cap run. The game was filled with experts and a master, yet none of them had a killing instinct. They kept attacking each other, just like this game except instead of the noob corner I was holding orient.

    It is interesting that VC finds these settings boring. I am a master, close to GM, I find them so much fun - occasionally it ends up with a grind/stalemate but usually there is so much diplomacy and tactical nuance, and much more chance to outplay weaker opponents. EA is the ultimate map, although most other maps have a greater chance of crazy things happening.

    • @cf316
      @cf316 6 місяців тому

      It's a matter of scale. Play these settings 20 times and it's a new challenge and fun game every time. Play them 200 times and they become tedious. Everyone has different tastes but in general after enough times these settings lose their luster. At least it happened for me and others I've spoken to.

    Ah yes, this is exactly the game i remember (i haven't played for years but still watch some risk).
    Stalemate for hours until someone either disconnects or is bored out and ints the game away.

    1:38:00: After half an hour of complaining that red keeps opening green you finally had a chance to card block green - and then immediately opened them?

    • @vampirechicken
      @vampirechicken  6 місяців тому +1

      I wanted to reward Red by killing Green first but it wasn't possible. I could have been more cutthroat with Red and won a little faster for sure

  • @theodoremurdock9984
    @theodoremurdock9984 6 місяців тому

    You know, I think automated bots would have been faster here because the bots are hitting stacks and abandoning capitals, so there are more bonuses available to fight over…the map was sort of choked up by the massive capitals of the players who left, so there was still no way to break the balance of the stalemate even after someone got tired of it and quit.

    I watched the whole thing. Games like this are a study in cognitive biases and sunk-cost fallacy and other human foibles. Okay, a somewhat repetitive experience, but that's the whole point. People repeat the same failed tactics over and over without learning a thing, like red putting large stacks next to an even larger capital and daring green to hit them, which they have to do to get a card, and so it goes on. If I were you I'd ignore the algorithm, which probably loves long videos that actually get watched, and play the fun, silly settings. It's still the same human foibles, but in bite-size form. Which reminds me, I need another snack to keep my strength up.

      It's quite easy to get to expert by just playing conservatively and not quitting games. You don't need any tactics to speak of.
