Oh and I wanted to say that my dad has clients and all their kids (who are NOW my parents ages- late 50's/60's) are all doing *FINE*. What that lady said- oh if I was there Mary I would have ripped into her for her inappropriateness and total incompetence. You do NOT say that to someone.. EVER. I am so so sorry you had to experience that. Mary with your *FAITH* and positivity you will live a LONG LONG life. Don't you worry- I have no doubt you'll be okay and if anything- be cured or even feel way way BETTER in the future ahead. I have so much love for you and you truly inspire me daily. Wow, can't believe what that lady said,and that was pretty funny with your dad. I had a problem when I went to New York a few times because of crowded places and people I had a few panic attacks it was bad but it didn't totally ruin the awesome experience of going there.
Yes, I agree, that was not the right thing to say to a person that has CF. I agree with you that every CF person is different. Like I mentioned in an earlier comment about my husband's 2 cousins that have CF, both are very different, one has had a lung transplant and the other does not, yet they both have children. I hope I didn't offend you when I mentioned the lung transplant- it doesn't mean you need to have one too. I'm so sorry if I sounded that way. You are such an inspiration to so many people, even people with other health conditions. You show them with your bubbling personality and happy smiles that that is the best medicine! Give hugs to Ollie. :-)

New York is absolutely wonderful!!It's so fun that you went spur of the moment :-) All of the theatre marquees are so stunning, and it looks like A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder took over NYC with its posters. :-) If you ever have a chance to see that show, it's highly recommend

Oh my! What a crazy thing to say. But she was probably thinking back to when it was that people only lived to their teens. She not up on yhe new treatments. My daughter was born in 1980 and we were told she might make it to her teens. Seeing that cf people are living in their 40s and beyond is wonderful from where it was in the 80s. Treatment has come such a long way!
+Green House Homestead That's true I had a girl in school die of cf but that was 48 years ago, things had dramatically changed thank god.
That lady was totally rude. Mary I can't say enough how great you are doing. I can't say everything by watching short clips of your daily life, but from what I see, you are doing a fantastic job taking care of your body! you have a great support like your family, peter, ollie boy and the frey life!, so keep fighting!!!

Mary I don't think she meant it in a bad way. It came out bad. I will apologize for her. I have a tendency to say stuff that sounded fine in my head but when it comes out it's all wrong.

I want to go to NY! Unfortunately I live in the UK though, and can't afford to pay the crazy health insurance costs to go to the US :(
Maybe one day I will win the lottery and go?! Until then thanks for showing me some of NY. By the way, London has lots of random tourist shops selling crazy hats and the like as well - I think we need to get you one!
i guess everyone's different accepting a comment like oh you are living long ,cause when people meet me and say that to me once they know about my sickness i ask everyone at that moment to give thanks to godfor me still being here😀i feel so proud when they are shocked im still alive lol but hey thats me😉

Naive' people say some rude stuff sometimes. I have MS and am on disability. I don't know how many times I have been told how lucky I am. Because people think being on disability sounds like a dream come true. I want to work, wish like crazy that I could be a healthy person with a career and got to get up and go to work every day! And I super wish I did not have MS anymore. I have learned a lot about myself through these challenges, and I try to be grateful and thankful to God for the things I continue to learn and for the knowledge to not take opportunities and moments for granted. But, people telling me how lucky I am to be on disability is kind of a pet peeve of mine!
Some people are just thoughtless of how what they say is really hurtful. It always pays to try and be mindful of everything we say and if it is not true OR kind well follow Thumper's Law "If you can't say something nice, don't say nothing at all" Ollie did really good. I don't think I could ever live in the city. I don't like a lot of people around me on a consistent basis like that. The downtown part of any city is like Florida it's nice to visit but I would not want to live there.
There are so many people like that lady. If I go to our local hospital, the lady who lives up the street tells everyone in the neighborhood I'm dying. So, when I go outside neighbors stop, look, some look like they are going to faint, the ones who talk it's just freaky. I so get it, Mary!! I pray for a cure for you, please pray for one for me. i was reading that the oldest person with CF on the books...is like 82 or something! i mean ican't imagine that lady saying that!!!! sheesh!
About the lady, I'm not in any way supporting her behaviour, but during the time she would have heard the most about CF, it held a very, very high death rate. She was probably going off of what she knew about it from long ago, not with modern treatments.
the insensitive things people say. I use a wheelchair on bad days, and people all the time say such terrible things, but I think if I yell they wont learn anything. So I educate. *hugs*

Hey sweetie, the salt is an electrolyte, right, and you know that it carries nerve signals, so that's why it would be very tiring without it! Not to mention, not very safe! Sopoo ... eat that salt all you want. Even when you're not hungry... do you like dill pickles? Great source of the stuff! LOL

He gives her momentum to walk so she uses less energy, she can stabilize herself on his back when she is coughing, he alerts when her blood sugar is low, he brings her vest, meds, eat to her and more :)

Holy cow. Oh my holy Jesus. I CANNOT believe she said that. I have a relative with aspergers and some are more severe than others. His is relatively mildish. But that's what it sounds like she has. People just don't say those things

Yasmina Gavin I found the air pretty difficlt to breathe and caused some more pain...but for a day or a few days it should be ok :)
I am sometimes too get taken a back about insensitive comments by others. On really good days I use a cane, but most days have to use a walker with a chair to rest. Anyways I always get crazy questions like do you have ms? You should hear the reactions when I say, no I have Crohns, severe Crohns. Part of 17% or more who develop neurological manifestations. Yes CF is a disease that affects the lungs. Yes IBD affects the digestive track. But guess what they are systematic diseases that effect so many aspects of our lifes and spectrums are so wide. Both are life threatening diseases. Only God knows how long any of us are going to live. Peace Mary and all of you have a blessed day. Oh and I promise you real cowboys do not dress like that.
