I have the AX model, and it’s one of my favorite guitars

I'm coming around to this guitar, it took me a minute to. bond because of the single coil noise, but with a new JB mini-humbucker, it's a glory to play. The AX Plus bass is absolutely one of my favorite instruments, so I had high expectations for the guitar.

@@tjkcivic I will say, they are surprisingly hard to find too. I currently need to replace the locks on the nut and cannot find parts for it.

I bought a usa axcellerator new in 93 or 94. With rail pickups. Still have it. With original case.

Nice!! Thanks for the comment, @thisnthat8323. I am looking for an original-ish case to this one! The gig bag is nice, but it's always a goal of mine to have proper cases for guitars if they exist. How's she sound?

i think you'd like the axcelerator F a lot more. the ash is nice and the dual rail pickups are probably more your speed

Yeah, you're totally right, @durstgt. I kinda wish i would have held out for the F, but I love picking up new (old) Peaveys, and i have my eyes peeled for one now! I love the Peavey Ash bodies. Thanks!

I have a standard Axcelerator (1994), but it features Peavey's rail pickups, which are very quiet. Too quiet, IMO, kinda dull.
I also have an Axcelerator F (1994 model only) that has the rail pups with a double-rail at the bridge to act as a humbucker. It also has a Floyd Rose trem and an ash body with trans-blue finish, quite the looker.
I have thought about swapping in some mix of Duncans or Dimarzios, but my preference is to keep all of my guitars original (unless something breaks).
Good luck with your Axcelerator. IMO pickup upgrades would make sense based on what I am hearing.

Dude! the F is the one i want, in all honesty. I thought this one would be more akin to a Superstrat with the SSS layout, but it clearly looks like they shoehorned a SSS layout into a guitar meant to shred. I installed a Duncan Little '59, but am having a hard time getting sound out of it. Once I figure that out I'll put together a video. The Floyd is not 100% my style, but for a guitar like this, it seems like the right choice. Thanks for the comment!

@@tjkcivic There is an Axcelerator F just like mine (trans-blue) on Reverb right now here in Texas with the price dropped nearly half. Even if you aren't inclined to get another Axcelerator, take a look--it's sharp!

I don't think his has the stock pickups and neither do mine. I haven't had a chance to hear a stock one but I wish mine still had the factory rail style pickups. My 1995 brochure shows the db2 rail type.

@@CORYSart Well TBH I have both the standard and the F models--but I am not a fan of the Peavey rail pups. To me, they are "meh". Don't get me wrong, I am big fan of all Peavey USA guitars (I have about 20), and mostly Peavey pickups are really good. The Axcelerator looks beautiful, esp. in blue, but I have considered swapping in some Duncans or Dimarzios to bring a little heat. Depends on whether I sell them or keep them.

Just bought a 90's Axcelerator without the whammy arm, I have no clue if it's a screw on type or the one without the bushing, do you know? would love to get the original

Good question! I assumed it was a screw on, but let me dig up a few whammy bars and give it a shot, i think mine came without the original too. I'll let you know what i come up with. Thanks for the question!

@@tjkcivic I found out, no it's not the screw type but the one without any bushing at all, you secure it with the side setscrew.

really?! I'd be interested in seeing one of those...i have only found the overseas SC-2 and SC-3 models, and those are made in China. Let me know if you have a US made one, i'd love to see it!
