This is pretty epic ngl. The different key definitely makes this cover feel even more tense than the original.
If you're open to suggestions (and don't mind covering fan-game music), would you perhaps consider remixing Egg Rock Zone (Act 2) from Sonic Robo Blast 2? That theme would be near godlike in your hands.
