    Such a classic! The last time we hiked the Narrows we had to turn just before Big Spring due to a pending flash flood, and it's a good thing we did because it started pouring the second we finished our hike!

      Wow, super lucky. Now if you hike past Big Spring, you are technically supposed to have a backpacking permit. I think there are camping spots right past the spring which is cool.

      @@TheVirtualsherpa I did The Narrows in early June. I think I got past Big Springs ... I had passed a large boulder kind of to the right but not quite to the wall. You had to swim around to the left or get in chest deep water and pull yourself up onto some rocks. Unfortunately after decided to head back just after passing that point I dropped my phone into the river with all my photos of the day and lost it. Thanks for posting this. I cant wait to go back... with my phone in a dry bag and tied down though.

      Major bummer, dry sacks are key for sure. I show Big Spring at the end of the video so you can see if you made it! Enjoy next time, it’s an awesome spot.

    That was crazy! Had no idea it was a water hike. Stepping into those unknown pools must have been “exciting” to say the least! Great trail guide.

    I did this hike 2 weeks ago and I also got turned around at the difficult spot that you mentioned in the video. I probably would have attempted it if I had a dry bag/was better equipped. The views up to that point were fantastic and starting early is awesome to avoid all the crowds that do the hike.

    I watched your video to see if I turned around at the right spot when I went early November of 2020. I did and yes that one deep spot is where everyone else turned around. I was the first hiker of the morning up the canyon and never saw anyone until I made it back to that point, then it was busy all the way down with others coming up. It took me about 3.5 hours to get up and about 2 hours 15 min down. I was tired when done for sure. I enjoyed the scenery but hiking in the water for that long sucked!

    I did Narrows a few years back with a friend. We turned around at 14:55 because it got really deep lol. Angels landing and the Subway are also pretty cool

    Another great VS video! A buddy and I did this several years ago by hiring a private shuttle to a spot up canyon then did a long (9-10 mile?) hike downstream to the spot you started. Definitely would recommend if you get a chance. 1 way vs round-trip and we still had the place all to ourselves (with a 4 AM shuttle pick-up) until about the last 2-3 miles where it got busier. Long awesome day and yes the water is refreshing in the summer when it is 100+ degrees in the sun.

    You did this one right by getting there early. Zion is stunning, but it's the Disney World of National Parks. I hope you had similar conditions on Angel's!

      @@TheVirtualsherpa oh nooooo! I'm sure it was still a good hike. I'm not a huge advocate for restricting access to trails, but I wish they'd require a permit for the chains section on that one. Looking forward to your footage!

    I got turned around at that difficult part as well! How much further to Big Springs from that part would you say it was?! Just curious how close I got! Thank you!

    Excellent video! Love the POV with the stick.....are you using any stabilization on the end of that, or just internal camera stabilization? If so, what camera? Thx---look forward to more of your videos (Angel's was great!!)

    • @TheVirtualsherpa
      @TheVirtualsherpa  4 роки тому +1

      Basically - but the pants have a seal on the bottom so they work similar to a wet suit (let in a little water but your body temp warms it up adding more insulation from the cold water). Once the water went over the waistband it was game over but all part of the fun.

    Don't they have a warning for cyanobacteria in the river?

    • @TheVirtualsherpa
      @TheVirtualsherpa  4 роки тому +2

      Yep - been up for months and typically will be a warning. Trail is still open, the bacteria is only dangerous if you are ingesting it.
