I now live in Oglethorpe again, and I'm originally from here. We moved back 5 years ago, and a lot of renovation and revitalization has been taking place here. We had issues with loitering obviously which is why the signs are everywhere. Mondays are slow days in most rural towns. Things are really hopping in downtown Oglethorpe Thursday and Friday in particular. We also had the lamp post art project in 2020 as well as the mural, which was funded by Flint Energies' Rural Mural program. We've had a revival in this tiny community, and I'm very proud to call it home. The brick building at 9:11 was an old icehouse - very, very old. We're working to get it listed on a historic register with some signage. The blue building that is for sale was my great grandparents' grocery store in the early 1900s until around the 1960s, and it started out of that ice house. They sold meat there from a cart, and the need was great, so the grocery store came soon thereafter. If you come back to town, please reach out and someone can give you a tour and more information about our history on a day when our businesses are open.
That lamp post art project and the mural are really cool! We enjoyed our visit to Oglethorpe and if we get the opportunity to come back, we will! Thanks for watching!
That's a cool town. It seems to be a recurring theme, just about everywhere. Places look open, but their hours of operation are more limited than they were pre-pandemic, IMO. nice place, T&T🌞👏... That sign must have been from last year. This year, June 23rd and 24th fall on a Friday and a Saturday. I've been fooled by those type of signs, too, wishing and hoping.
Yes, I realized that when I watched it back! Sometimes we just fill in what we expect it to say rather than what it actually does say. I see Chatta, I just automatically think hoochee! Thanks for watching!
Hey I recognize this place. Next time you go to Oglethorpe call Ethan and he can give you all the insider info about everything lol. Did you go to the Jack's in Montezuma for lunch?

Hi Tim & Tammy.Love ya'll
Hey Bear! Love you!
I guess all the people were loitering and sent home which explains why so many we're closed 😂
Hahaha!
The sign in the ironwork on the green building is Chattanooga Roofing ! Not Chattahoochee ! Close tho .. Chattahoochee isn't too far
Kathy Cockerham .. please educate this couple about your town ! I saw Whatley's!

He said that building with the mural on it used to be a grocery store.
