The Ballet Master is EPIC. Every correction he makes is correct. There were several moments of "not-so-great" and/or lackluster form, especially with the boys.

The dancers think it's difficult on their young bodies, but imagine how long and intensly he's been putting his body through this. His muscle memory is incredible. Those dancers should hope to one day achieve this proficiency.
@@CuteLewaczka They did look scared? I did not notice. I hope that these students appreciated the intensity of the class and level of mastery and teaching they were exposed to.
It’s good to have master classes by international renowned teachers and dancers. They all have a certain way of looking at details and overall standards. Mr. Xavier Ferla (a Swiss) is a Prix de Lausanne winner (Scholarship) and later member of Maurice Bejarts Ensemble “Ballet of the 20th Century”, the very Ballet avantgarde in the world. My own sister was in a different highly regarded modern dance group and this is great for the dancers because of not only the prestige but also regular (!) pay and the chance to visit great places during a tour. I love this video a lot!
Thank you for this fascinating background. I remember taking classes with another member of the Ballet du 20ème siècle. Our regular teachers used to encourage us to take classes and summer courses with all kinds of prominent classical and contemporary dancers. I remember classes with Serge Golovine: I felt like a beginner all over again!
It feels like when I was singing Carmina Burana in a choir and our conductor was a Martina Batič - famus conductor. She was pushing us with a soft voice, I was dead inside at the end of our practice, but she pulled out of me what I never thought it's possible from an amateur soprano singer.
Agreed, 'Master Hiss' Xavier is hilarious, as well as knowing what he wants from the dancers and expecting to get it, missing his makeup for his 'latest moment', especially love his Tank Youuuuuuus! Way to go Felipe and co., such hard work finessing the movement 🐨🦘🦘🦘
This was one of the best videos you’ve ever done! Ever! Please, more teacher videos! This was so refreshing and it was so interesting to get to watch the students not be perfect! I enjoyed that more than I should have… (real life.)
0:30 Actually, not to be pedantic, but he's not saying 'plié', or 'piqué', for that matter. As you can probably tell, he's not pronouncing the '-é' at the end. He's speaking French and he's saying "plie!", which can mean one of two things: 1. The imperative of the verb 'plier', so he's 'ordering' him to bend his knee, or 2. The noun of the action verb 'plier', which would mean something like "(pay attention to the) fold/bend."
I’m not convinced these kids know the details that this teacher knows, but they are still taking the hit for it. It’s often the previous teachers that don’t understand the moves deeply enough.
I love watching this man teach. Every class is suddenly a matter class. He will find something significant in something someone else might deem 'insignificant' without hesitation
😂 not the people in the back looking like they are questioning their life choices. Bet you the teacher has created some amazing dancers and at the heart of it he just wants them to give their best🙂
My god I'm laughing so hard, how hard has it been for the students to understand this teacher? He sounds soooo french in every word he speaks (although 3/4 of the words he uses are actually french) 😂😂
He looks like a very good teacher who really cares. The students who stick with it will remember him fondly even if they hate it at the time (the ones who quit will hate him forever 😅)
I love the first male dancers smile/interaction. He immediately hears the instructions and gives it his all but the teacher notices and decides to perfect his attempt. He just wanted to try it, but not hard enough to catch attention and be singled out 😅😅 still he's probably a bit flattered because obviously the tecaher saw potential in his attempt
Wow, what a great teacher….They will all be better dancers, as a result of his teaching style, he demands perfection…I had one teacher like him, but not as nice!
"you're wearing wooden shoes on the farm and you have to shake the **** off your shoes" 😂😂 That reminded me of a teacher I had when I was young. Tough, but funny and fair.😂
I don’t know a thing about ballet .. or how the “normally “ looks like.. but this teacher had me in awe… I mean I would not had thought he was a ballet teacher .. I like him.. hard working man teaching hard working students 🤩
Fun fact: he’s not mispronouncing plié. He’s actually saying “Plies! Plies!” In French, meaning “Bend! Bend!” Plié means “bent.” He’s using the command form.
Yessss. Im glad they have someone who can help them fill their gaps. Loved it when he told Melanie that sure she can turn but that’s not enough. Her expression made me sad but she was already getting better by following his advice.
This teacher is so nice compared to mine! Mine was a retired Russian ballerina, who carried a cane with a big ruby at the end. She used that ruby to move our limbs where they needed to be, and whack us in the legs if she got tired of repeating herself, when we didn't get it right. She may have been brutal, but we were all better for it! LOL
French here : I think so, his prononciation is perfect and he has a french accent when he speaks english. Also "plié" litteraly means "bent" and he keeps repeating "plie plie plie" which would translate to "bend bend bend" so my guess is he's french 🤷🏻♀️
"My grandmother falls more than that" savage 😆
idk why it was kinda giving "if my grandmother had wheels she'd be a bike"
The teacher definitely was an outstanding dancer in his performance era, his jumps are so high and his turnout is perfect
He has bionic musculature, behold those calves and pecs! Does anyone know his name?

A teacher who can push you to your BEST is very hard to find. You wind up being SO GRATEFUL for the opportunity to learn under someone so demanding. 🙏

He looks like a referee who's about to pull a lot of yellow and red cards on the players.
This is wonderful. I love intense classes where the master teacher takes no prisoners.
Love Ferla’s passion.
I LOVE that he demonstrates all of the moves! I wish Slawomir would do that more often
Slawomir has a bad hip. He can't really do this type of thing anymore
I don't think he can with a bad hip. That would be dangerous.
I've always loved no nonsense teachers. He's hilarious and exacting. I love his passion 💓.
