This is still one of my absolute favorite horror movies. Unfortunately the footage for the deleted scenes were destroyed along with the storage unit holding them.
Sadly they can't release a Directors Cut of Event Horizon because the Cut Footage was completely destroyed. Some scenes and unreleased footage were found in a Salt mine, but that is heavily damaged and nearly useless.
@@vginsprdsobepr9698 Yeah I think it was at the vault at Universal Studios, in 2008 it destroyed so many Musical Artists Master recordings & Original Film Masters and Cuts. Universal kept so much quiet that to this day it's really unknown what films and music can be remastered. Puts a question on many future remastered releases.
One of the last horror movie that genuinely unsettled me. Also always wondered if Event Horizon is inspired by Warhammers 40k's "The Warp" where human warped into demonic form or at least show their evil side.
I believe I had read the comic( but I was stuck in a very small town in Nebraska for the summer and was maybe like 10)but then it became one of those things when you see the movie and go...was THAT what I read bcuz I remember it different
@@chrisking3729 Absolutly! I've also read Pulp Fiction was more violent in the beginning. I think Marvins exploding head scene had to be edited to avoid NC-17. Maximum Overdrive should be released uncut one day I think. Who knows, maybe it happens. After all, Batman Forever was released uncut in 2023.
@AName175 love Maximum Overdrive, want that lawnmower scene uncut. I grew up in the UK under the BBFC so hunting uncut was my childhood, but damn.. we have payback original cut, nightbreed, i fanedited my own as the 4 cuts out are messy. Wait Batman forever has an official new cut? There's a great fanedit of it using the work print to try and make it like the original Vision
So did they suddenly find all the footage? Because it’s pretty well known that most if not all the cut footage was lost when it was destroyed. I sense clickety clickbait. Skip video.
I started watching Horror movies when I was 6yrs old & 2 this day it's very rare 4 a movie 2 even remotely phase me. I saw Event Horizon the night it came out at the Mall of America & it is one of the few on that very list. Event Horizon in my opinion is a very underrated Sci-Fi Horror movie. Its got a very interesting story,a great cast & the visuals (4 it's time) are very graphic & chilling as all Hell! "Where we're going you won't need eyes to see"!!!
loved seeing this movie in theaters, but i always felt that something was missing....it all makes sense, now. it's too bad the footage is gone, as even an R rated version, nvm a directors cut, would be epic!
Always liked this movie, the hellraiser reference was pretty obvious. The message that mankind has stepped out of its boundaries is ominous as it is our nature, we are already in orbit, editing genomes, there are probably experiments done we will no nothing about inviting the unknown into our reality.
Speaking of uncut movies, like Desperado, has anyone else here seen original 1987 Man On Fire? I saw it on Prime Video, and just like in Desperado, the whole finale is missing. I wonder if it's cut, or made intentional..
09:55 Hang on, didnt they use a shot of this scene, albeit very brief, in Startrek Voyager? Y'know the episode where Tuvok gives up his most violent memories to some illicit thought trader on a planet of telepaths where violent thought is a crime..
Sci fi films come and go 😲 every now and then you get a gem😲a film that makes it on to your favourites list 😲 this is one of those 😲 it's up there with the alien films 😲 and too many others to name 😲if you love sci fi horror and haven't seen it 😲watch it😲👍 with the lights off 😮if you dare 😂😂
It's not true, they were inspired by warhammer 40k, but it's not set in warhammer 40k, but it's still considered by many to be a film set during the dark Age of technology
This is still one of my absolute favorite horror movies. Unfortunately the footage for the deleted scenes were destroyed along with the storage unit holding them.
Seeing it, in it's original form, would have been awesome!
The producer found a VHS copy years ago but we never heard anything else from it.
Sadly they can't release a Directors Cut of Event Horizon because the Cut Footage was completely destroyed.

I heard they were in a storage unit that got destroyed. I think it was a fire.

A salt mine is crazy
@@MichaelFalkowski Was it, or was it just stolen and they made a ridiculous excuse haha.
What was done to this film is a fucking crime
My parents told me that my dog was sent to the Transylvanian salt mines for storage when I was 8. I never believed them.
We were robbed.
I believe in the Oliver Harper review on the movie he mentioned there are hours of footage destroyed, some of those include orgies!
An awesome movie. Vastly underrated. Same as Equilibrium, and a few other favorites.

This film scared the crap out of me growing up
Same.
I loved it too :)
Same 😅
I also hope we get to see Judge Dredd uncut one day. The 1995 one. Desperado, and Braveheart also.

Desperado deserves it's ending back

Honestly, a salt mine in Romania?
Good story.
How about playing the scenes with less talking
If this is possible, uncut Maximum Overdrive is! 🤩
Too much talking not enough showing

the message/lesson from the movie ?
Never travel the warp without gellar field generators and the astronomicon to guide you...

Oh no... dont let Amazon ruin Event Horizon... just leave it in the past >_
It's one of my favourites.👉
I’ve never particularly thought it was a fantastic film or anything but it’s probably my most re watched movie😂
I thought all the cuttings and negatives were totalled in that salt mine fiasco?

Did you know Event Horizon takes place within Warhammer 40k universe?

NO.
I thought it was part of Hellraiser universe... Hmmm
