- Clive Sheridan visited the final resting place of the great Rory Gallagher - St Olivers cemetery near Ballincollig, Cork, Ireland. A very emotional visit, Rory was a big influence on my music and in some ways on my life as well. RIP Rory Gallagher 2 March 1948 -- 14 June 1995
HE'S A MILLION MILES AWAY, BUT STILL IN BILLIONS ON HEARTS, RIP GOOD MUSICIAN,,,
How did he died?
@@TheSebasdesign...I'm Irish but pardon the pun..Whiskey. Liver damage.
Later days even though he had money would sit and play on street but took sick an was to late to save. Sad end to a legend.
🎵 I've got sand here in my pockets
From the places I come from
That is where I'm going
So I'll say so long.
Thank you very much! What RORY did with his guitar is VERY GREAT!
RIP Rory. Gone but never forgotten.💖🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🏴
RIP Rory you may have gone but you music will live for ever.
Went to his grave and Phil Lynott's grave too. Shed some tears. God bless them.
That's great. Where is Phil buried?
Dublin. St. Fintan's cemetery.
@@edselguru IV been to both Rory and Phil too!!!!!!!!
R.I.P My Rory 💕
(02 March 1948-14 June 1995)
Thanks Dave - it was a very emotional visit. Rory was a big influence on me as a guitar player but also as a general musician and even as a person.
Thanks for the video. I'll most likely never make it there so appreciate the time you shared. It struck me while you were showing the surrounding land how much of the world he saw, and filled places with great music and energy to be at this peaceful, silent place. He left us with so much of himself and was an inspiration to so many he'll never be forgotten.
Thanks Dusty. Yes it was a while ago now but I still remember walking all the way there from Cork and back again. It was a Sunday, no buses!! Sore feet after but amazing experience
Thank You. Visited there last year in a wild Wind and Rain storm. Looks like you had better weather. The Gravestone is shaped like an Award Rory won.
Thanks for posting that Clive, Rorys spirit lives on in different ways
Rory still lives on in our hearts & minds.
I understand why you got emotional, he had a great influence on me as well.. Going to my hometown was the reason i started playing the mandolin and Irish folk music. I'm visiting his grave in October. :)
Rip Rory God Bless you and thanks for the music

Ace, I came upon your touching visit to Rory's grave early this morning & I too have free-flowing tears for our loss of this gentle soul. Wish I could be buried in his presence myself
Thanks for sharing your tribute to our Rory. I think he would like the fact that little birds were singing for us as we were paying our respects.
Rory lives in our memories and in our hearts.
Have fond memories watching Rory and his band playing the ll Rondo in Leicester in the day many times! fantastic nights, and still listening to him to this day. I also remember being at a gig and it was announced he had passes away all so very sad then and still is...RIP RORY...

R.I.P music legend!!!!!!!; He, Phil Lynott and Gary Moore were the best of Irish Rock musicians. I've been to Phil Lynotts Grave there is a video of me on my UA-cam channel of me visiting it.
sad, but he left a real mark.
Cheers Rory....and thanks Clive.
Thank you for sharing Rory will never be forgotting Rip ❤❤❤🙏
I live in Suffolk, England but I visited Rory's grave on the anniversary of his death from 1996 until 2000, by which time it was becoming a bit too popular. I thought it was great that more and more people were marking his passing but by then I felt that I'd rather remember him by watching him in concert on video or whatever. I've promised myself I will revisit his grave at least once more though.
Had the same emoticons when I visited 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
Rip Rory. Nr one guitar player shadow Play. Pure rockn roll...
Good player was Rory
Rip
Thank you
Merci pour cette vidéo!!!
Rory grande entre los grandes, siempre en mi vida
Por siempre!!
看到他的墓地🪦,突然好有感觸;you’re too young to die, RIP. Rory 💐
GRACIAS RORY POR TANTA MUSICA QUE HAZ PUESTO EN MI ALMA ... POR SIEMPRE
Gracias!
I am crying can't help it. RIP. Dear Rory Gallagher.
💚💚💚 bumped into him once at Heathrow Airport, we couldn't believe our luck x
Wow that must have been amazing!!
Hendricks was asked what it was like to be the greatest guitarist in the world. He replied you better go and ask Rory Gallagher and ask him. RIP Rory best of the best 🤘🏴
I remember him heading the opening night of the Reading festival. Many moons ago. Western Plain, and I was hooked!!
Thank you for this - S Africa.
His brother, who has the rights to his songs, could clean up his tomb a little and not lack fresh flowers.
Maybe true, but you know how it goes in general.. I thought his grave wasn't look much after as well though.
#Legend
J'étais il y a 20 ans sur sa Tombe.
The Best
Awesome Clive, no I've been too.
Exciting video but sin the state of neglect of his tomb, the name is not read well. I think the record company should spend a very small part of the money they earned to get new flowers at least once a week. Rory will remain in our hearts but his memory on earth should be more cultivated, R.I.P. Gary
I agree. I thought Donal might do more too. Cheers for your comment
I agree if I lived near there he would have a red rose every week
Agradecido por su gran trabajo en la música . Para unos fuiste subestimado, para otros, entre ellos , yo , fuiste un genio. Hasta siempre. D.E.P.
Repose en paix.
St Oliver’s cemetry Ballincollig lovely here
I grew up in Cork in the 1970’s. Rory was our hero. His gigs in the City Hall each Christmas immortalised in Irish Tour’74 and in Tony Palmers eponymous film. His grave in St. Oliver’s in Ballincollig Near Cork is literally yards from my parents’ graves. Every time I visit, there are little gifts and momentous left by fans from all over the world. Rory was an incredible guitar player and a special man. Like all his devoted fans, I remember exactly where I was when I heard the news of his death at just 47 - the day the music died. RIP Rory .
been there for a visit to the grave of a guitar icon
Should have been a guitar headstone .
Il mérite un vrai monument.
thank you. i feel humbled. is the head stone depicting a setting sun? Does anyone know? bless Mr Gallagher. His music and performances made me feel gut wrenching heartache and emotion. He and his guitar ... a pure love story.
From what I have heard it was a award once given to him. But your setting sun interpretation is very fitting and beautiful.
Interviewed him in Cork, 1983 - a gentleman. That grave is a fucking disgrace. His brother Donal showed up to the interview, all business. He might show up to his brother's grave once a year and tidy it up. Or at least make his name legible.
Somehow I got emotional.
I just went there today it looks different now there's houses around it now!!!!
I just uploaded my video of visiting his grave!!!!!!
R.I.P Rory Gallagher
I also have a video of me visiting the grave of Phil Lynott the lead singer and bassist of Thin Lizzy and singer Mic Christopher.
Thanks Eoin, awesome video!! Cheers man, just watched some Rory on UA-cam. This brings back all those memories of that day I went there, walked all the way from Cork and back again!! Sore feet but worth it, thanks mate
Irish tour'74
Man was a genius.
Simple like your life .
What about a proper stone and bronze marker?
His grave without cross....why?????
