    I remember when we ground up our feed. Back then, it was a non styled JD "B" running a flat belt driven hammer mill. Shoveled in the feed through the mill, into a wagon. Time to feed, shoveled out of the wagon into buckets. Hard work but, very enjoyable. Today, y'all got it made. Oh, nice to see the JD sweatshirt.

      Debt can be a budget killer during lean times. But can be a nice tax write-off during rich times.
      But with the no right to repair deals now. It will get very expensive once the Warranty is gone

    That use to be my job after school. Ground two loads of hog feed a week. Mostly corn and bean meal with salt and mineral suppliments. Fed a lot of hogs that way. We used a IH mill. Can't remember the model number. Use an old 656 to grind with till the pto went out then we used the 966. Gosh that was a lifetime ago...........

    According to Clemson univ. 16% pig feed 385 lbs soy 48% corn 1555lbs and 60 lbs mineral mix. I have a new holland 352 grinder some of the bevel gears aren’t available thru New Holland. I’m sure there are used parts, if the bevel gears go a hydraulic motor might be easier

    I used to try and line the grinder up by driving by like you do here, then I figured out if you back up to the wagon at a 45 ish degree angle, so the grinder just passes the end of the wagon you can just keep backing up until the hopper is just where you want it. The hopper will be just off the tire of the grinder instead of sticking straight out, but it works the same.

    I grind for my cows and hogs with a gehl 100 hammer mill your new holland looks like a better machine. I put down bunker cover plastic to catch the leaks and spills its always a challenge to get that auger under the gravity box just right, the real challenge is setting up in the right direction so you dont get all the dust in your face.

    Good video. Was wondering a couple things.
    I think you said a while back but what brand of wheel barrow is that you had by the mixer at the beginning? looks heavy duty.
    Do you ever have problems from driving over the hoses between the calf hutch and shed, just figure it would be poking holes in them.

    Jacob i am probably 20 years older than your papa. He runs a farm. That is tech. What I think is his interest. I can't stand tv any more. Even a little bit. Lie lie lie especially the normal news channels. I can't watch that for 2 minutes before hearing 10 lies. By omission or flagrant misuse of reality.

    • @lukestrawwalker
      @lukestrawwalker 2 роки тому

      Absolutely... I quit watching the news 15 years ago. Amazing how much happier and nicer life is when you don't listen to all that GARBAGE all the time. You're absolutely right... you know how you can tell if a politician or reporter is lying?? Their lips are moving. Seen some local stories end up on the Houston news and they ALWAYS misrepresent whatever is going on to serve their agenda... and of course they'll hang around town most of an afternoon and always manage to find five of the biggest nutcases in town to "interview" about the situation-- either to get their 15 minutes of fame or because they're just as twisted in their thinking as the reporters are. The media is all just pure garbage anymore. Later! OL J R :)
