    This is my favorite 10 meter radio so far. I wish uniden would make a modern day version of this radio.

      Isn't the President Lincoln II+ essentially a modern day version?

      Replace all the electrolytic capacitors in the entire radio with new ones, the mpu board has many small ones which fail and cause PLL issues, but the whole radio will need doing by now.

    Hi just recently got myself a dead HR2510, showed the same fault that yours did, display dead except for the back light. First thing I did was to check those 2 voltage regulators, nothing was coming out of the 5v regulator and it was running HOT. Replaced that with a new one and that still ran HOT, then discovered there was a dead short between the regulator output and earth. turned out to be the 1000Uf capacitor between the regulator output & earth had developed an internal closed circuit through it. Replaced that along with one other capacitor and now have a working HR2510 radio again.

    Hmm, i bet you scoped the two coaxes next, to see if the vco is generating a locked signal.
    I sort of remember that the vco has many mixers and other vco's/dividers in a ring to produce the final output, i think lol, dam memory :-D
    It's like 1970's unions, one out, all out LOL :-D

    Where's part 2 ? Been looking for it but could not find it. I'm guessing it might not be out yet.

      Alf Torp - yes I haven’t finished it, I had it sitting on the side of my bench for ages waiting for me to get back to it, I got a bit side tracked.

    Hi sir, my hr2510 was in storage for long time, found out that the wires of the bulb seem to have burnt. I am not sure if it could be the cause on why it doesn't want to turn on. 31.8 volts is going into the board when checked but it is still dead. I do need some advice sir. Much appraciate it sir.

    Hi, my HR2510 loses the last frequency, do you know if there is a battery to maintain the memory of the frequency

    • @TheDefpom
      @TheDefpom  Рік тому

      There is a super capacitor on the MPU PCB which holds the memory.

    Hello friend, I have a President Lincoln Mk1, that when turning it on for the first time it takes some time to show the frequency of work, I explain myself better, the screen turns on but it does not show me the numerals, and after 5 minutes they appear, but that happens only when the radio has several days off, I imagine it can be some capacitor, you could help me to repair this fault. Greetings from Venezuela

      Lindberg Figueroa - the radio likely needs to have its capacitors replaced if they haven’t been done already, also check for corrosive glue.

    Hello, thanks for the video, could you tell me what component it is and its value printed as Y301 in blue. It is not on my pcb, it is a PB-121AC. Thank you.
