I dont think anyone in this SCENE trust modern bungie at all. The CEO is ruining it, and who tf wants another extraction shooter? Nothing unique by a company whos now a shell of its former self
I do have 2 questions, 1 how can we be sure this won't turn into destiny with over priced dlcs season passes and temporary content. 2 what was your opinion on tarkov's unheard edition BS (made me lose all respect for them for even considering it.)
Rather Extraction games than Battle Royales. Why? In Extractions its high risk/ reward. And get the feeling of OWNING the stuff you get away with each session.Theres an addictive adrenaline rush every time Imo.
Don't trust Bungie right now. But will still support you with my view and my addition to the likes just cause I still love ya. If it's good on release, great. If it's as bad as the community feared, still gonna have the hate on Bungo. But not gonna leave ya. We're connected like the Flood biomass

Current Bungie is just a lifeless shell compared to Bungie at its heights. I can’t get hyped for Marathon being a fucking extraction shooter while the CEO lays off hundreds of people to afford more custom cars.
Ship of Theseus. The people who built the golden era of gaming are gone. The companies of today share name alone with the companies who made the best games of our childhood/past. They have been gutted, malformed and construed into corporate shells by shareholders and money hungry management to generate as much money as possible while stifling creativity. Indie is the way to go if you want the gaming experiences of old in today's world. Game engines have come al long way especially in recent years lowering the barrier of entry for gam development drastically leading to indie games today often times being better products than the AAA gaming space. Why? Passion > greed. Passion will always lead to a better product than making something purely for profit. It is unfortunate though that a lot of indie gaming is locked to pc though. This is why I believe buying a steam deck/building a pc is the best investment one can make right now. Consoles have become increasingly more money hungry while offering less and less. We are losing the disk drive, subscription prices keep getting worse, console games keep getting more expensive and we have no security in our purchases. Making the switch to steam/GOG is the best idea for long term gaming if you want your kids/grandkids to have a gaming experience where they're not exploited by gacha games/live service.

Exactly like the OG. They could easily have the extraction part as a small mode alongside other modes for multiplayer. And we will have an actual single player campaign with maybe coop.
Yeah really. Worst part is, they should know this is what people want by now. More and more major single players or multi-player with campaign games are finding massive success, while the soulless MP only cash grabs like Concord flounder. Two and two do indeed make four, but gaming company execs just can't seem to do the math.
I'm sorry but I cannot get hyped for this at all. Them changing Marathon from a dark grimy industrial doom like game to a obnoxiously bright and colorful visual slop extraction shooter is no different what 343i did with 4 and 5 in the sense that they're stripping the original games charm in order to pull in a new audience.
Nah, I don't agree with 4 being in the same bucket. 4 had a great campaign, and the only gripe I remember people had at the time was multiplayer and the way the flood looked, but it didn't ruin it for anyone. 5 had a meh campaign but a good multiplayer despite the slot machine mechanic. Summary: 4 was good, and 5 was okay.
I'll say what he couldnt say because I'm not under an NDA lmao It's more like the classes from The Finals than it is like heroes form Overwatch. So in The Finals, for example, there's a light, medium, and heavy class. Each class has certain weapons and abilities they can use that other classes can't, but they're also pretty customizable. I'm looking at all the old Marathon games and the atmosphere they have and the new one looks like Apex legends in comparison with all the in your face bright colors.
I'll be honest, this game isn't going to be what we all wish it would be as a Marathon game. I don't think this'll be a good entry in the franchise, I don't think it'll uphold the good elements the old games had, and I don't think it'll be anything special or unique. It doesn't help that this isn't the old guard 2000s Bungie, this is Destiny 2 Bungie, and they don't hold the same values for video games
Anything with modern in the title is a red flag for me. It has to literally be marketed for; LONG TIME FANS OF FRANCHISE if it is not it is Dead on Arrival. Nothing is made for us anymore, this is like watching a puppy with cancer drown. It hurts to see it happening. Modern anything = bad and the sad thing is, it shouldn't be that way but it is.
I honestly think that continuations of old IPs like this that aren't even remotely in the same general category of the original are more harmful than just letting the IP sit there and do nothing. New people who weren't even alive when the original was around will see this, be bored as hell, and never even give a second thought to the old experience, which still has value today. I hate it.

Yeah, and all while treating their fanbase like absolute shit. Like that one time they openly admitted on Twitter that it doesn't matter what the trailer has in it because "you'll buy it anyways" or when they ripped the game up to sell DLC at the start of D1.
The moment I heard extraction shooter.. for MARATHON, I got the same level of dread he expressed with "hero shooter". If they don't flip the table so hard it does a full rotation 20 times before hitting the ground on this genre of gametype it's going to be as memorable as the rest of these types of games. What a sadness... Speaking of Bungie being flippant with critique like this, I am just coming from someone that's just about had it with video games at all, like I am still bound to them its just I am so very much on the fringe of not caring at all that nothing new even means anything to me anymore either. I just like playing party games with friends and testing my reflexes/strategic skills at this point fun little ancedotal things... the hyper-accentuated eyecandy nuclear explosion anime DLC battlepass royale extraction blah blah stuff is totally lost on me and i think a lot of people will understand after consuming it for a little longer.

Seriously an extraction shooter that's similar to Tarkov. I'm out. I want to have fun playing my games and not constantly worry about permanently losing my stuff. Lastly, making a game that has rich lore be a multiplayer only game is stupid.
Disagree. Permadeath or stakes in video game can make for some of the most poignant and memorable experiences in gaming. It can make it frustrating but it can also make it VERY rewarding.
Exactly, it's not supposed to. There are only like a handful of people still at current Bungie who worked on or played the original Marathon games. The current class is the sort that butchered down Destiny's cosmic war of fundamental forces down to an emo ex-bf chasing his magical ball ex-gf across the universe to try and taxidermy the whole of reality because that's his thing even though she hates it. And the rediculous levels of filler involving overly emotional cardboard cutouts of characters that the writers play with like their favorite Ken dolls. Why would they be interested in the mystery and intrigue and complicated world of the OG Marathons? Why wouldn't they just make their own sci-fi setting at last, slap some Marathon names and maybe a familiar icon or two on and just call it Marathon in order to try and attract the attention of the masses?
@@bigdaddyneroHow does corporate boot taste? It sounds like a very good extraction shotter. The most important thing for me as a fan of the original marathon was the lore, something that in the originals is only counted in terminals and looking at the arg you can see that they have respected it with this game so I am very hyped. for reviving this franchise
Except with how horribly nuBungie fumbled Destiny 2, and Destiny as a whole IP, as well as their prior IP Halo being completely gutted and tarnished by --343i-- sorry, Halo Studios now, leading people to look from that company over to see how the glorious Bungie of old was doing and seeing the absolute disaster they've become (deleting DLC and things people actually paid for, messing with game systems to be completely anti-player, butchering the story and universe for social commentary and due to the small minds of the writing team, the lethal nickel and diming and rediculously high prices of their chopped up microtransactions, etc), only the most braindead and easily pleased peoples will be excited. The kind of people that enjoy watching the Disney SW trilogy, or the ones that need subway surfers and minecraft and fortnite gameplay all at once to focus on a 30 second short of someone talking about something they know nothing about in order to "develop" an opinion on that thing. Those sorts of people.
Tellin yall rn, another doo doo extraction shooter made by MODERN Bungie (the same company that REMOVES PAYED EXISTING CONTENT away from its players in Destiny 2) has VERY little to no chance to actually be good. Keep your expectations VERY low. I said similar style things about Starfield and got ripped for it in comments and here we are its the midpack Bugthesda title every reasonable person always knew it would be. Dont set yourselves up for disappointment with yet another modern game. Part of me is envious tbh that people can get this excited nowadays over a game made by a notoriously anti consumer company.
People don't realize how anti-consumer Bungie really is. The amount of things you have to pay for in that game is INSANE. Even if Marathon doesn't have these features at launch, it WILL ADD them later, once they start to pump money into advertising and the fear of missing out kicks in, just like they did with Destiny. Psychological manipulation
As a real destiny fan I can say that 99% of destiny players DO NOT care about the content that is removed 😭. Used to be a halo fan but at this point, destiny is just better and now extremely popular 🤣
what is it with AAA devs making games that nobody wants? this doesn’t appeal to marathon fans since it’s an hero based extraction shooter and it doesn’t matter to extraction shooter fans since the genre is already so oversaturated . this game will almost definitely be DOA.
We haven’t even seen gameplay yet, who fucking knows, it might be shit it might be great, I’m not getting my hopes high, but I’m still curious to see where it might go.
Why is Marathon an extraction shooter!? I know I'm behind on this, but, who asked for this? Who in their right mind went and said, "We have this hard Sci-Fi IP about a Cyborg fighting against and from time to time with AI's of all sorts of mental states, with and against alien species throughout multiple timelines; I know what we should do with this, make an extraction shooter out of it after 30 years.". What are these moron's thinking? They could have made bank on just making a redux of the story, fleshing it out a bit more; why ruin this and their already crumbling rep with another bit of soon to be bargain bin slop?
just because a trend is dead doesnt mean you cant sill enjoy it and have fun with it. This is a Halo channel. Balanced arena shooters died over a decade ago. And yet we're all still here enjoying them anyways, because it doesnt matter if it's "dead" or not
Just because shoehorned gamemodes chasing after the trend in popular shooters failed, doesn’t mean the genre as a whole is dead. Tarkov is almost a decade old and is still thriving, Hunt Showdown is also over half a decade old and is doing better than ever. Hell a brand new tarkov “clone” Arena Breakout Infinite just came out into open beta and already has a firm foothold in the industry. A ground up extraction shooter from a competent dev team still has plenty of room to thrive.
@@thenullduck Tarkov is flat out dead dude. The entire game is a P2W/P2L marketplace which is operated by the devs and cheaters for huge profits. And streamers get paid to play it. Almost no one actually plays Tarkov anymore it's full of cheaters. Go play Dayz its been out forever and supports mods.
What does it matter, Bungie has been taken over by the same corpo idiots as everyone else. Also: their next game being a Hero-shooter / extraction-shooter basically tells it all already = follow the current trend like 99% of all shooter games at the moment and try to get people to change to their IP... so no big hopes there. Oh hell no that's the most infuriating type of PVP of all. you can have all your progress reset to nothing because some jack off is camping somewhere across the map with a sniper or something. then your in the hole and have nothing but defult shitty gear and have to start all over.
I'm gonna keep it a buck with you, the second you said "extraction shooter", all of my interest went right out the door. I consider it to be a scourge on game development, like the Battle Royale trend, because everyone tries to replicate the success of one game that struck gold, which means fewer resources for the core games that try to catch this lightning in a bottle, a la Battlefield. I'm glad you love it, and I hope Bungie finds success with this new entry, but I'm checking out of this one.
It's interesting that Bungie tried so hard all those years ago to detach themselves from Halo as they wanted to make different things. But then they continue to make nothing but Halo adjacent SciFi shooters that just get more and more like everything else on the market. It's interesting to imagine what if Bungie just continued handling Halo and how things would be right now.
I have thought about this before as well. Personally, I think we would have seen Halo stray further from its roots (just as it has under 343), just in a different way. The Bungie of today is hardly the Bungie that made the Halo games. I agree with your statement though, Destiny and seemingly Marathon, are Halo adjacent despite being a different genre.
@ColinCreighton I'm not big into pvp shooters besides Halo and Dark and Darker (not exactly a "shooter", but it's first person and pvp). I believe Halo is considered an arena shooter? And the others are "extraction shooter"? If you could confirm I'd appreciate it. And idk, personally I feel the opposite of your take as Bungie is great at consistently building a world as they did in the 5 Halo Bungie titles. Maybe would've failed in the take of gameplay and micro transactions like Destiny made really lucrative for them. But as a game, world, and direction I feel it would've stayed more consistent which personally I'd prefer because of the fact all games now a days have some form of micro transactions, but at least Halo would feel or look more like Halo at least. That and just the added point it feels their development and leadership was able to stay consistent during their era of Halo games. At least compared to how people have come and gone like crazy since 343(Now Halo Studios) has over the years. But your take is fair even if I disagree. It's still an interesting thought to ponder.
@@1ViivviiX1 Yes! Halo is an arena shooter. Marathon looks like it will be an extraction shooter, but Destiny is more of a PvE MMO that is a first person shooter. There is a PvP aspect to it, but it is not really the central point of the game. I guess I agree that Bungie can still make a world. I played a lot of the first Destiny game and a good amount of the second one up until the Cayde 6 death DLC. Destiny's world just never grabbed my attention like Halo has. I love the gameplay, but the story has always seemed like a secondary part of the game. Just like 343 in the recent Halo titles, all of the interesting parts of the lore are learned via grimoire cards or something similar. I totally respect your thoughts too, I just never got too deep into Destiny. Partially due to Bungie's treatment of certain OG Halo guys too, which is not Destiny's fault.
@jakespacepiratee3740 Boarderlands popularized the looter shooter genre...sure, Destiny helped make the genre even more popular, but it was a genre beforehand. As for game style, that is false. Both are first person shooters that are "jumpy" and "floaty" with co-op PvE and online multiplayer with graphics that are both not photorealistic and not cartoon-like. That is before the plot. While the stories themselves differ largely, they are both about humanity being nearly wiped out, ancient and existential threats, alliances with non human factions, etc. Just because the genre is different does not mean that it isn't Halo adjacent. Also, being Halo adjacent does not mean that Destiny is not original, as it is a very original game. That said, there are many similarities.
@@m.infernal That's what I was thinking too. Some stuff like the sph't look cool but holy shit it looks like weaponized epilepsy. Also it's lacking that 90s sci fi alien franchise like aesthetic. Like it doesn't have to be a 1:1 of that but it'd be nice if the visual design is an update of the old style. But eh maybe it's just the trailer that looks like this.
The art style is the only thing keeping me interested tbh. It's not in line with the old games but those didn't really have the strongest art style anyway imo.
I actually like the artstyle. Graphic realism is some of the most compelling art styles to me and for it to represented in a game in a pretty unique way is interesting to see.
Existing title glued onto game style it wasn't meant for because it is currently popular. The slow decline of established IPs in the modern gaming space is tiring.
I'm absolutely looking forward to the lore videos you're going to make about this game. The story and world of the OG trilogy is among my favorite of all time for the very "storytelling" reasons you bring up in this video. As for the game itself? Nothing about Bungie's marketing thus far has been able to shake the stench of "live service extraction shooter" for me, and I really doubt they ever will. They can come back when I can experience the entire story without ever having to sniff the online mode.
I hope others enjoy the game but I have 0 interest in it. I do not play extraction shooters and find calling this game "Marathon" confusing, frankly. This is absolutely nothing like the Marathon games I fell in love with and I really hope this trend stops. I can't wait until we finally get another Dino Crisis that’s a PvP only Battle Royal Live Service game
How close to Marathon's weapon roster does this Marathon extraction shooter get? Have there been any notable art directions in the map and character designs that match the OG titles? What timeline does the story take place in, given Marathon Infinite's branching realities? I don't want Bungie to butcher such a keystone game that helped get them to their golden age.
During the Activsion separation we learned the lifetime sales of D1 was 10m compared to the 20m year 1 prediction. So yea Marathon probably has some really bs level of sales predictions.

They couldn't have engineered this game to be less appealing to me as fan of Marathon, gaming and stories if they'd tried. The idea that a return to the narrative de-prioritisation or absence that was the hallmark of early video gaming is some bold new form of storytelling is laughable. That its sidelining is some artistic choice to tell an optional tale along the margins of player agency rather than just a begrudged concession towards a fanbase that was not expecting a mechanics only, check-boxes by-the-numbers 2020's live-service cash shop masquerading as a video game.

‘I played this guy the most’, not I played this class the most. It seems to me that Bungie either doesn’t understand or is deliberately ignoring what players want. ‘Hero’ and pre designed character are the same thing. We want to create our own characters not select a pre-made one. You’re just removing the heroes name and assigning it a class. If you gotta constantly side step the truth then maybe you’re doing something wrong!
The lore is going to be about this old grandpa who loves his bangbot model 14... and they're gay, so you can't think it's weird that this is the focus in a gritty, dark, violent universe full of manmade and cosmic horrors. Which will only be hinted at, then retconned into an emo Megamind with a talent for taxidermy rather than being a cosmic horror entity when the writers realize they can't do grand, cosmic entities and threats well at all since they prefer writing about the grandpa and his bf, and all their other little carboard cutout characters they use to vent their personal issues through. Just speculating based on what Destiny 2 got morphed into when they changed the writing team around the time the Shadowkeep DLC was being scraped together.

Check out Witchfire, if you haven’t heard of it yet. It’s still in early access but the current version is highly focused on solo gameplay. It’s inspired by Destiny and Dark Souls with roguelike and extraction mechanics sprinkled in. Coming from heavily playing Destiny 1 back in the day, Witchfire is the single player answer. The only thing missing are armor builds, which probably won’t become a feature unless they decide to build it into a sequel. Gun and magic gameplay screams of Destiny however.
This is very exciting to hear from you! Great opportunity not only for you, but also for the community to have your voice help shape the game. Thank you for you honesty!!
Seeing everyone in this comments section show unanimous disgust towards the Marathon reboot fills me with a child-like joy that Bungie hasn't been able to elicit in the last decade.
With the amount of passion you put into this video regarding marathon this gets me extremely curious. Especially in the current landscape we have right now where there are little to no good AAA games. I hope this game takes off and has an extremely engaging story.
I just cant imagine how this would be a good thing for Marathon. I want to be wrong of course, but i dont see this helping push people into investing in the unverse, and i certainly dont feel like this game being a success will do anything beyond getting us more extraction shooters with the Marathon name attached.
It won't matter how good it is as an extraction shooter. It's really just that they're intentionally doing this to imply that Bungie is connected, at all, to its roots. It's even sadder because they know a lot of fans would absolutely eat up a Marathon remake or new game that advances & modernizes the original formula whilst staying true to what made Bungie's design philosophy click. It's so funny too because early Bungie was known for its innovation and unwillingness to abide by industry standard & trends. We got Halo 1 as a result of a constantly evolving game design formula, and you can see a lot of what Halo derived from in Marathon. We've been shown, obviously, that Bungie is not interested in innovation. Bungie isn't the same company that made Desert Storm, Pathways, Myth, Marathon, or Halo. It's been known since they were originally bought out by Activision.
As a long time fan, thank you for everything you do. You walk the tight rope fairly on the broken hearts of the OG Halo community and still bring positivity. Always a pleasure to see a video by you. I rarely comment, but been watching for over a decade. Thank you
Nothing against you man, it’s just not enticing at all. I don’t trust any of these people and all the descriptions of this game are a series of huge red flags.
As a Destiny OG and seeing what Bungie has done to it, No amount of youtubers and PR is going to get me on board. I don't mean to give their flak to you but all I see is Bungie trying to get another group of players and pull the rug out again. I want all my original Destiny 2 content back and Pete Parsons fired as a start before I consider another Bungie game.
Wow. Way to destroy the revival of a beloved IP before it can be realized. an extraction shooter? Has Bungie lost their minds or are they just stupid? Lets take a universally loved FPS from the 90s and tease a remake only to subvert our expectations in the worst way possible. Way to go Bungie! Chasing trends that aren't even trends. Genious. This would be like rebooting Doom again and having it come back as battle royale. Say what you want about Bethesda/Id Software, but at least they did it right. SMH
Got the same feeling I got back when Destiny 1 got announced, was super hyped, and then all of that hype died the moment I learned it was a multiplayer game. Yeah, there are mobs/npcs to fight against but like I dont care for playing against other randos for a plus rare purple gizmo
After the hiatus Bungie has been going through with Destiny 2, and their lay offs of OG employees... It's not even Bungie anymore, it's not even gonna be Bungies original vision of Marathon. Just a name we know, tarnished by heretics
With Halo rolling over on to its belly, Marathon just being a standard Single Player campaign/multiplayer game akin to Halo very well could have catapulted Bungie back to the top of the industry. Instead, they're chasing an oversaturated niche.
When they said that it had "aggressively changed", I was really hoping that it would remove the extraction shooter elements, the parts that everyone had universally panned when it was announced. The fact that Luc did not outright deny the Hero Shooter aesthetic signals to me that Bungie is trying to outdo Concord in the worst ways possible.
Thank you for sharing this. I feel the fans of Halo and Bungie face a lot of gossip and misinformation around what goes into making these games. I appreciate the clarification and constructive feedback you give regardless of backlash. It is important to voice concerns as it leads to an infinitely better product in the end.
6:10 He's talking about COD: Zombies easter eggs. This is in line with Joe's statements about "quests" and meshes well with extraction shooters as to intensify the sense of urgency as you explore and discover "steps" to these environmental quests.
This game is going to be garbage. I stopped paying attention when I heard "extraction shooter" That's not even getting into the kind of developer Bungie is nowadays compared to the guys that created Marathon.
I wanted it to just be a straight-up remaster of the original Marathon, I think that would have been so good. I'm filled with doubts about this, tbh. I think Bungie should remaster the originals, and then use those as the basis for future Marathon projects.

Ok
They even laid off the woman who designed the Halo logo!! WTF?!

Yeah really. Worst part is, they should know this is what people want by now.
I agree
Never played the original, but I still can't get excited about yet another game chasing a trend.

It's more like the classes from The Finals than it is like heroes form Overwatch. So in The Finals, for example, there's a light, medium, and heavy class. Each class has certain weapons and abilities they can use that other classes can't, but they're also pretty customizable. So light players in general will be faster and more "stealthy" than heavy players, but not every light player will be the same. You can build it for stealth and deception, or you can build it for fast paced aggression. The classes are more like archetypes than anything else, so in Marathon picking the "Stealth" runner roughly defines the play style you'll use, which is stealth obviously, but not every Stealth player will be using the same abilities and weapons and all that. Whereas in a Hero shooter, like Overwatch, every Reaper has the exact same abilities and weapons, every Tracer has the exact same abilities and weapons, etc.

@@ColinCreightonDestiny basically invented the looter shooter genre and is nothing like Halo.

@@udontknowme00 that sounds interesting, but I have other problems with hero shooters. Like how everyone ends up looking like the same 15 people repeated over and over just with different “skins”. People will also always use the broken heros. I just wish they didn’t have it at all, but maybe it plays good
@@udontknowme00 Oh, so it's Anthem without the flight mechanics?
They couldn't have engineered this game to be less appealing to me as fan of Marathon, gaming and stories if they'd tried. The idea that a return to the narrative de-prioritisation or absence that was the hallmark of early video gaming is some bold new form of storytelling is laughable. That its sidelining is some artistic choice to tell an optional tale along the margins of player agency rather than just a begrudged concession towards a fanbase that was not expecting a mechanics only, check-boxes by-the-numbers 2020's live-service cash shop masquerading as a video game.
Extraction shooters are so boring and dull especially Vigor the only extraction shooter I enjoyed was DMZ and now its dead. Im mad that the new Marathon is going to be an extraction shooter instead of an Halo like boomer shooter with no sprint and just pure fun.
Glad to see people calling BUNGIE in the comments.
@@Pertlight I'm very happy too because Destiny fanboys are relentless in changing the narrative that Destiny isn't the worst game on the market. I bet many of them will buy Marathon despite none of them having played an extraction shooter before, nor caring about the existence of them before this either
If it had a lore rich, single player campaign with a boomer shooter vibe & arena style death match multiplayer, I'd be on board.
But what I'm hearing is pvp extraction shooter with hero shooter elements, if that's the case I'll pass. And let's be real, it's gonna be monetized to hell.
So weird that how you view thing, games and what you enjoy is what i have always enjoyed. Like i absolutely love tarkov and been playing it since 2019, im a huge halo fan etc. Keep up the awesome work and love from Australia 🇦🇺
I really hope there’s some deep lore in this game!
Knowing Bungie it will probably be forced onto their website
There's already been several ARGs including an 80-or-so page manifesto of Morrowind-level writing that's fleshed out the setting incredibly.
I swear this guy didn't wanna support Bungie because of their recent actions...
That’s all the halo youtubers they always switch up when they’re presented a check to advertise a game, always take everything they say with a grain of salt
@@Valkyrae123when it’s a studio with legendary titles and they fly you out and let you try their game before the public has seen it and it’s a studio with a irreversible tarnished reputation, it’s very hard to take a certain someone’s opinion seriously. @@___Nobody__yeah poor guy is bullied by hate mobs way too much.
It's slimy but his Halo videos are too damn good so.....
I realized a minute in you had Blow Me Away in the background and that always makes me happy. Just saw BB last Friday in Austin TX. Was such a fun time. Great show. The Easter eggs they showed to Halo during BMA was a awesome little touch.
As someone’s whose played destiny since the D1 alpha I will not be purchasing marathon I simply do not trust bungie
I don’t want to have named characters with dumb lines and quirks, I want a nameless runner I can customize and make my own, I hate how cod and battlefield have operators, I just want my faceless soldier back
So no campaign?

Man you can't be excited for this after playing the og marathon.
why can’t they just make a cool single player shooter lol
It completely baffles my mind.
Destiny is the only shoot and loot I can play, so I'm hoping Marathon is an extraction shooter I really enjoy. But I am excited. I trust you Luc, you've never seemed to give anything other than your honest opinion.
Don't care, seems boring.
Honestly, Bungies take on the extraction forumula is already 2 years too late.
I’m old and grouchy so I will never buy a multiplayer only live service gain again in my life. But I guess these games are probably still being made for 12-17 year olds like I was 20 years ago. Sucks to no longer be the target demographic anymore 😂
Check out Witchfire,
if you haven’t heard of it yet.
@@unanimousarts Cool I'll check it out, thanks for the recommendation!
@@selbergful Right on, mate! Hope you like the game!
This is very exciting to hear from you! Great opportunity not only for you, but also for the community to have your voice help shape the game. Thank you for you honesty!!
Seeing everyone in this comments section show unanimous disgust towards the Marathon reboot fills me with a child-like joy that Bungie hasn't been able to elicit in the last decade.
its great love that everyone is over live service games.
Thank you
Honestly, idgaf about this new Marathon or any looter shooters. Also don't care about modern bungie.
Cant bring myself to play a bungie game when hundreds of people just got laid off for the sole purpose of raising profit margins
Nothing against you man, it’s just not enticing at all. I don’t trust any of these people and all the descriptions of this game are a series of huge red flags.
Breaking Benjamin in the background >
If it's a pvp extraction shooter, count me out. No thanks.
What makes this game bad is (Extraction Shooter). Marathon had so much lore and it could've been the new Halo !!!
BLINK THREE TIMES IF YOU NEED HELP HIDDEN
So it's Rainbow Six: Tarkov. Cool. Moving on with my life now.
I’m going to say this game is going to fail in the long run, compared to Warhammer and many other non play to win games.
If Sony wants this game to be successful, it has to launch on PC same day as PS5. Games like this need a large population at launch.
After the hiatus Bungie has been going through with Destiny 2, and their lay offs of OG employees... It's not even Bungie anymore, it's not even gonna be Bungies original vision of Marathon. Just a name we know, tarnished by heretics
Heretics is the best word for it
@@TrashMail-ri3ciyeah because the haters act like the Covenant 🤣🤣🤣
With Halo rolling over on to its belly, Marathon just being a standard Single Player campaign/multiplayer game akin to Halo very well could have catapulted Bungie back to the top of the industry.
Instead, they're chasing an oversaturated niche.
No fleshed out story mode? Gonna skip this one
"Extraction Shooter and a Hero Shooter"
Quite literally the 2 least interesting genres mashed together, yippee.
15:33 It was at this moment, he knew…
Thank you for sharing this. I feel the fans of Halo and Bungie face a lot of gossip and misinformation around what goes into making these games. I appreciate the clarification and constructive feedback you give regardless of backlash. It is important to voice concerns as it leads to an infinitely better product in the end.
Man, videos like this are so hype but I feel like marathon will flop.
7hanks for the marathon video though
Shut tf up Bungie shill. Go get your corpo money elsewhere.
I'm glad you are excited but god I cannot care at all about "Marathon", atleast what they've turned it into.
6:10 He's talking about COD: Zombies easter eggs. This is in line with Joe's statements about "quests" and meshes well with extraction shooters as to intensify the sense of urgency as you explore and discover "steps" to these environmental quests.
This game is going to be garbage. I stopped paying attention when I heard "extraction shooter"
That's not even getting into the kind of developer Bungie is nowadays compared to the guys that created Marathon.
I wanted it to just be a straight-up remaster of the original Marathon, I think that would have been so good. I'm filled with doubts about this, tbh.
I think Bungie should remaster the originals, and then use those as the basis for future Marathon projects.
I am not big on extraction shooters. A Doom clone would have caught my attention more.
That would’ve been amazing. 🤘
>Shitty Hero-Shooter
>Shitty Extraction Shooter
>Made by Modern Bungie

@@MyNameisVyke Doesn't matter if they saw it or not to be honest.
@@FloatingAmongTheCosmos yes it does bro, Xperia literally just talked about how Extraction fits Marathon well and had good lore bits and story telling, how the hero aspect wasn’t what he expected it was going to be (how everyone expects it to be) it was mostly praises and improvements. People see stuff online and immediately assume without even seeing a gameplay trailer yet.
@@MyNameisVyke yes I have watched the video, however considering that this Marathon is being made by the same company that removed content from Destiny 2 and the fact that it’s going to be a Hero-Shooter and a Extraction Game means nobody will be interested in it and it will fail
@@QueenNagaJacie there’s nothing wrong with extraction games, and very recently Bungie confirmed they are not following the Hero shooter formula. It’s not a hero shooter.
Not to mention Destinys team isn’t the same as Marathons. Yes it’s all Bungie but the teams are not the same.
7:51 has got me very excited
I'm gonna honest here, I don't think Marathon will even release with how bad things have gotten with Bungie. I doubt they have the manpower
I am not sure how much I will be able to give to a live-service shooter, but I hope you do some more lore videos! Those are my favorite to watch. 😁 (I would still love some lore vids from other universes like Warhammer, but make sure you make what you have fun making!)
