Pretty crazy how they asked for 90% lol. 40% would have been more reasonable but whatever lmao. Ari did what she had to do to bless the radio.
Maybe because my favorite things and the whole OST of sound of music is very popular till now that's why its so expensive to be sampled but 90%? Its like owning the whole song... 70-30 would be reasonable coz i mean her label needs to earn too but 10% and her label and crew need parts of that as well.. she might have earn a penny for this

Ariana used my favorite things as a sample because she wanted to do her own version, if you look at the lyrics of my favorite things, 7 rings is a grown up and more badass version of that song. Yet, the estate wanted (and received) 90% of the royalties....that don't make sense to me....they shoulda got 30 or 50 to be generous considering that's what they got from Gwen. But i'm confident they went after 90 because Ariana is the biggest artist in the West right now and she's literally in a golden age for her career. Had she done this 3 years ago they prolly wouldn't have asked for 90.
