can someone tell me how they think this album is album of the year? I like the album and NF but I disagree
6:52 sums it up pretty well. n yeah like there are other artists that are talented n lyrically skilled but when we listen to Nate (spec if u can relate to him) u can't deny he's on his own lane. (there's no problem if u disagree either) but like Nate be speaking 'bout real stuff that nobody else is, that really needs to be addressed especially considering not many w/ his platform address. He talks bout real n important issues, n does it away always passes expectations (lyrically and music wise.) so yeah all that in summary is why he's earned 'album of the yr' title (last yr now)
I have been listening to NF for a while now. This I do know; beef and drama sells, right. There is something about the human spirit that enjoys "mess". It is a failed attempt to hold your breath indefinitely.
NF makes it clear that he is a Christian that raps; not a Christian Rapper.
I love all of his symbolism as well as his "bars". He really is relatable. He simply chooses not to cuss, not because he doesn't know how.... I hope that he is rewarded for his passion by this double edged music industry; but if not, his passion will always trump this system.
By the way; I believe the seven letter word is "freedom".

James Howell just pretty obvious really, he has mentioned freedom several times in the album and right before the seven letters line he says he out of his cell where’s he headed, is he hell bound or will he find heaven. Out of his cell and freedom relate so makes sense.

James Howell not much assuming to it to me, just putting his words from all his tracks together. And if he didn’t want people to wonder and imagine what he was talking about when he spit the 7 letters bar, and throw ideas out there he would have clarified what he meant in the track.

Love your dual-reactions and how you explain the way the songs hit you. Great video - and yeah, this singing of the hook is Sasha Sloan. But it’s modified a bit in the production.
Sasha Sloan's voice is good not sure I love the effect. Still a great song but I like her voice better normally myself still would have been fire song either way.

let me go itself is rap but aaallssoo there's a hip hop beat (yes the 2 genres are closely linked but still 2 genres) the chorus has a feel related to sadcore, and the song starts and ends in a cinematic piece (which in itself is a genre). so 4 in total. n yeah it doesn't seem a lot I know but if u know music it's harder said than done to overlay all these together (n make it flow n sound that good.)

Let Me Go sounds like a Tool song (not to the level of musicianship but the way the instrumental is structured). Haunting.
I Miss the Days was a very Christian sounding track. Gospel choir.
No Excuses sounds like a trap song.
Trauma is a ballad with piano.
Time sounds like a radio pop song.
And then of course NF is a rapper so the rest of the tracks fit into that genre.

Love the reaction, as always. We the people that have had it rough, that have fought, that are still fighting, we are the ones who get Nate's messages the most. What's even more amazing though is the more people that listen to his albums are now coming out of hiding, are embracing their struggles, relating to what he says, and are building an army of support for one another. 9:15 when the track be vibin' you so hard u gotta put the bottle down, you know it hits you good. This is such a masterpiece. The raw, uncut emotions, the calm which only adds in the rage of feelings... This is the kind of music that can truly help people. When I was at my lowest I tried to kill myself a couple of times, but there were many times per month that I considered it, even preparing to do it. Standing there, just millimeter/seconds away from being dead with the knife in my hand, the jar of pills cracked open, up on the wrong side of the rail on the bridge or all alone in the cold, rainy pitch black night next to the train tracks, the only thing holding me back and leading me back down from the edge was music. Music similar to this track right here. Thank you, NF. Thank you, for being you and producing the songs that you do.
Only is by far my fav NF song. It speaks volumes.
I can't say that I can trust myself to always make the right decisions. I like to think I do more often than not. But, temptation is real, sometimes the right decision isn't necessarily obvious at that moment, and obviously emotions can and will cloud your judgement sometimes. But, I can say that I strive towards being someone trustworthy, understanding, moral, and who owns up to my mistakes. So, yes I do trust myself. But, I didn't always. Even now there's times that I am my own worst enemy.
But, I definitely trust myself more than anyone else. I don't trust easily and I always trust "to a point."

1st, I did the movie thing...you hit the nail on the head! 2nd...that is far fetched that it was a diss. EM said in an interview that if he was gonna diss somebody he ain't backing off from saying their name. I honestly feel like NF would do the same thing...I really think he was letting EVERYONE know not to step up to him or go at him. Neither would just diss someone and not say the name. I personally do not think that was a diss...VERY far fetched imo!
Scott Watkins they were definitely warning shots to both the industry but also he did clearly reference Em in several lines but they weren't necessary a dissnornmote but definitely again warning shots.
I'm really not sure bc Em has said that and most of the time that's true but he has done some low key stuff before and he DID technically say the name it was just in a weird way.

Movie scene:
Man is standing in the rain on a crowded street. Everything is in slow motion around him. He starts to think about all of his mistakes and is dwelling on his regrets. We see flashes of all the things that are eating at him. When the tempo picks up he snaps out of his daze and starts searching for a place to be alone. The background starts to move faster and begins to blur. Through his chaotic vision one thing comes in to crystal clear view and it triggers his dark thoughts again. Finally, towards the end of the song he finds some kind of refuge in a darkened alley. Then he sees a broken mirror leaning against a dumpster and the song fades as he looks at his broken image. He no longer shows any sign of thinking and it becomes clear by the look on his face that he is starting to give up all hope. The definition of rock bottom. As the final note is played the rain begins to stop and is perceived as a turning point in this man's life. He is completely broken and alone and now must learn to rebuild his world.

I love that NF doesn't curse in his songs because I have 2 young nieces that love to listen to music with me. So I will play his songs when they want to listen to rap
I just realized that the reason that Let Me Go has such a great swing to it is because it's the only song on the album with a 6/8 time signature... Sorry, I sing in a progressive metal band and notice shit like this.... A 6/8 time signature is very rare in rap music. 4-4 is generally the time signature used. The fact that he used a 6/8 time signature is just crazy and makes me respect him even more as a musician.
He is the best rapper for me, his flow is one thing but what he says is another. He doesn't get enough cred for me I think he is the best rapper I've heard an I grew up with the greats but it's what he is anout.

There was no diss between Em and NF. They're both very blunt with their words. Em will make it known if he is dissing, and who he is dissing. NF, says in "Therapy Session":

He's real with his words, so if he really is going to diss someone, it would be very very clear lol.

Who else named their album after a fighter plane "kamikaze" NF said shot u out the sky. Like ur punchlines u are not landing. "Crash landing" gun jamming "Killshot" mgk still doing it and bigger than ever. I love EM and NF I'm hype to see this. But too many dot are connecting for me to not to believe this was a response.

I’m not sure if he did or not, but he’s not been afraid to call out industry giants before (Drake in Statement). Another line people picked up on is: “Shoot you out the sky, like your punch lines, you are not landing. Gun jamming.” The Ringer (the song where Em called out NF) was on the album Kamikaze (Kamikaze pilots were big in WWII). So people are thinking NF is calling him out here, basically saying - you try to take me on, I’ll shoot all you got down.
Another line was “I been patiently waiting, please, I think it’s my turn”. EM and 50 cent did a song together by that name. And, in a song on his Recovery album, Eminem said he keeps trying to pass the torch but people in the game keep dropping it. If you listen to the flow and rhyme scheme in the last couple of verse of Returns, then listen to the Ringer: NF matches Em’s flow pretty dang well. I don’t know if this is NF calling him out like in a diss, but I wouldn’t be surprised if NF is saying, “Why you calling me out? I’m here and I’m not taking that. You keep trying to pass the torch, well, I think it’s my turn to carry it.” Honestly, I think NF is one of the only rappers in the game right now who could go toe to toe with Eminem and not get obliterated. He’d probably take some hits, but it wouldn’t be career ending. Just my thoughts.
