From March 1982 an edition of Just a Minute featuring the original 'classic line-up' of Peter Jones, Clement Freud, Derek Nimmo and Kenneth Williams. As ever the chairman is Nicholas Parsons.
My mum is 84 & unwell so I’ve moved in with her & this has been the only thing which has made her laugh in days, she has dementia but remembers this & although she’s probably forgotten it by now I know it will make her smile again tomorrow! & me!
Thank you for uploading this, have just been reading Nicholas Parsons book on the show and it is great to hear again the voices of Kenneth Williams, Clement Freud, Derek Nimmo and Peter Jones. I was expecting it to sound dated but the humour is as current as if it was recorded yesterday rather than 36 years ago. Wonderful stuff !!
No wonder this tremendously funny and intelligent show has even out lasted the great and now sadly no longer performing members of the cast. Fantastic stuff. I loved it then and still do !
@@Omnicient. I have realised that these programmes were more of an influence on my developing language skills than the Grammar School I did my best not to attend.
Nicholas Parsons is still chairing this! (June 2019) I always thought these were the dream team although my opinion is doubtless biased as it was my formative years. Paul Merton, (on the panel now) is arguably the most skilled ever player of the game.
Merton is very much the narcissist who wants it all and takes it all; I like the 'team players' we had in the 60s, 70s and 80s. There are too many narcissists on the panel today that sadly I've stopped watching/listening. I only enjoy 'team players' from those eras I mentioned!
Never liked Merton. During his early appearances on the show, as a sore loser and out of spite, he would continuously and repeatedly interrupt the people who successfully challenged him. It was infuriating that he would be allowed to continue doing so for quite a irritatingly long time.
@@stevebbuk interesting point. Parsons was once asked if Williams knew beforehand what his subjects would be. He said no, but they were subjects he was familiar with.
@@stevebbuk ps, when Parsons passed, i was fearing Merton would get the permanent chair, and the rotation of several different chairpeople was a good idea !!
Oh Clement Freud, Why did you do it Why did it have to be you . Now another nail in the coffin of people who i grew up with and admired . Loved the show But now its so Tarnished shocking news shockingly disgusting man
Agreed, so disappointed. The show can still carry on and they'll probably continue to broadcast episodes made after his death but this means I can't listen to any Paul Merton episodes from 1988-2009 because Freud was on most of them. Sick bastard
***** It has in a way for me. As you have the modern day Just a Minute in which one guest per week would rattle off a list of things in a Parody of how Clement Freud used to cheat at the game. It was amusing reminder of how the show started out. Now i guess that part of the show will be lost.

Did she listen to this again?
What a great team theese 4 are always make smile and chuckle if only they could still of been here.God bless them all.R I P
oh my favourite line up, though i loved paul merton and many others too! thanks for this! RIP Nicholas Parsons

Yep, some risqué humour!
Just reading the book. Interesting and often hilarious.
Peter Jones, National Treasure.
By far the best entertaining panel show on radio, even if it lacks the old personalities.
Great fun thank you
First heard this wonderful era via The BBC WorldService (The WildService!)
wow this came out on my birthday
DON'T READ THIS FOR 5 DAYS
Yea so I'm going to forget by the end of the week but happy birthday my friend.
I came here from a man who had a PS4 that would not stop ejecting his disk.
Nunzy I too have come from that man
Me too
Nunzy: I also.
Ditto.... feel like I've rounded the wrong street corner
who didnt?
Ahhh love Peter Jones

Another fav of mine is Call My Bluff; shame there's not more episodes uploaded (at present).
@@Omnicient. Oh yes very much so ! And on TV, Face the Music
@@tortysoft I find it more stimulating as it makes you dissect the word and definitions; again so much depends on the panel.
@@Omnicient. I have realised that these programmes were more of an influence on my developing language skills than the Grammar School I did my best not to attend.
Peter Jones was so witty, miss them all
I came here from a guy who did karaoke
The original panel were quite wonderful. So much wittier and funnier than most of the current lot.
I see this as the golden era coz it's when I was growing up but to be fair, Merton, Toksvig, Brandreth, Clary et al are very good.
Totally agree though I'd add Brandreth to the brilliance of the old 'team players' of the 60s/70s/80s.
Warren I can't bear to listen to it now.

@@Omnicient. That's a bit harsh but he deviates a lot and doesn't get challenged enough for it.
@@Omnicient. Deviation - Kenneth Williams most certainly loved to 'take it all' :-)
Both do so brilliantly !
Good old Kenneth
A great team, and except Parsons all dead now. Beautiful legends, all of them.
Not quite ALL of them...
splinterbyrd that's sad
Mr p who's still alive
Clement Freud was a paedophile...
@@paulhostler7863 He assaulted some young women but I don't believe any of them were underage.
Wait 9 years after a persons death and then make an accusation anonymously. Even if its true does, is it fair and does it help somebody.
I came here from a dude that liked beating other people up with bicycle wheels.
I'm pretty tired
DeepTech Inc we just going to cycle through bike puns now
Anyone here from 1982?
i was brung here by a man who needs a new ps4
Brung is not a word
@@barrydelisle8655 You could have buzzed for that.
Lots of people came here for strange reasons... I just like jam a lot...
I was sent here by a guy making "Beep beep" noises, and claiming to be from Betelgeuse and not Guildford after all.
What a class act these five were together, sadly now all gone and streets ahead of anything Paul Merton ever achieved.
Never liked Merton. During his early appearances on the show, as a sore loser and out of spite, he would continuously and repeatedly interrupt the people who successfully challenged him. It was infuriating that he would be allowed to continue doing so for quite a irritatingly long time.

Giles Brandreth really does sound like Derek Nimmo.

I wonder if the LP Cover for Wings- Band on the Run. Will be Photo shopped to take Clement Freud out of the Line up

Peter Jones. Fraud and Williams. Those 3 was always pissing about cutting corners
Innocent until proven guilty, and he was accused after he died. I think they just wanted some money out of his estate like people got from Jimmy.
Sadly, all now dead.
