Great reaction to the best acapella group on this or any other planet! Love watching your face throughout. Everyone was brilliant of course, but MVP has to go to Layne. I especially love the Uh Oh section and the cheeky grin he gave us while he did it.
As far as Geoff’s low notes go, he probably won’t ever push below B0 in subharmonics, but his low chest notes are getting lower as he ages; he’s dropped a whole note in just the last few years, now being able to reach an F1 in chest voice, where he was previously only comfortable at G1.
In theory, a person should be able to do a subharmonic an octave deeper than their lowest chest note. For example, my lowest chest note is an E1 and I can do an F0 at-will and an E0 on a good day. Using the 2nd subharmonic technique, I have gotten as low as B -1. Given my lowest chest note is only one semitone deeper than Geoff's lowest chest note, he should be able to get to a C0 using the 2nd sub technique. The problem we run into, however, is anything much below a G0 starts to enter the point where human hearing diminishes greatly. Even as a pure tone and not pulse register, the note begins to be heard as a pulse and the air escaping the vocal folds creates distortion we hear above the actual note. This is why Geoff's subs are always EQ'd the way they are. It's not because his technique is bad (quite the contrary, he is one of the best at it); it's because we wouldn't actually hear it correctly without the EQ'ing.
The vocals are always amazing, but they always go that extra mile on the visuals - including putting those PESKY contact lenses in (that they REALLY don't like to do) to get into character 🌹🕊. Thanks for this one!
Geoff's walking base line is amazing! He's always singing and working on his voice. Interesting information for you: This was filmed on the LED wall and floor at Optiview 360 in Longwood, FL. Geoff created the background video for the projection. He searched "Japanese street wear" to find the costumes.
In practices he does once in a while almost get the mythic A0, but his B0 has gotten to the point he can reliably hit it. This one he did not actually go all the way down, instead they were having fun showing off Eli's rock talent, and Layne's newest soundbite. But very well worth it, and a lot of fun.
Did you ever hear them sing oogie boogie song? Geoff goes subharmonic in that one. He goes up to a B4 and then down to an E1 in that song in the same breathe almost!
He did an F1 chest voice in Whiskey in the Jar. So he's still going down, Cesar is still going up - hit C6 and D6 in The Lion Sleeps Tonight. J None was terrific in that one as well.
It just cracks me up so much that the Navy has J None singing bass in their chorus, and then when he goes home on leave to make music with the boys, he knocks our socks off with those incredibly crisp, sustained high notes in The Lion Sleeps Tonight :P

Earworm warning! 'Sisters below...' is highly contagous! 👍👍👍👍
Yes, a very contagious hook!
