I swear SOMA has one of the best horror designs in a videogame or straight up horror media. The idea alone of an AI that somehow grow phonically is terrifying yet I'm fascinated by it.
I think the WAU did not make these bodies as hosts for brain scans like it did with the mockingbirds but tlrather that it captured these fishes and creatures and imbued them with structure gel and pasted the human consciousnesses in them. The look the face in the anglerfish gives as the creature goes on the hunt is almost as if screaming and crying at the same time. I think the human consciousness are trapped inside them while the fish acts like it would normally do but more aggressively - like a reluctant passenger unable to move/speak/act while the creature does as it pleases.
It's very odd that the Leviathan can apparently fit perfectly through that tunnel after the heart of the WAU. Either it was adapted specifically for that or it's been merged with some sort of machine that was built for the tunnel.
WAU would run out of structure gel and the living ocean life would evolve into new forms, eventually maybe intelligent forms, and discover the dead apex species, humans, of the past.
Awesome video! I really appreciate all the detail you give when examining the models On another note do you think you will be doing a video like this on Jin Yoshida? No rush at all mate , appreciate you👍🏻
As terrifying as it looks, i think that the future is bright for the earth in the Soma universe. It'll take more than a couple of years to save humanity. For now, i think WAU is in it's infancy, frantically saving as much of humanity as it can. It's like a peasant witnessing a rich man throwing bills out of his balcony. It's trying to catch them all, but most of them end up soggy in the rainwater of yesterday. Though, they'll eventually dry. They won't be the same ever again, but at least the peasant will have them. Basically, WAU is in panic collection mode while there are still souls to snatch and shelter. No matter the cost. In the later stages, i'm optimistic about it's continued efforts in it's pursuit of rescuing humanity. As you can see, it's trying to convert borderline alive human bodies into more suitable vessels to live in. However, it's borrowing them for soul collection. Think of it as replacing the planks of a ship until the original planks aren't there anymore. Will it still be the same ship? That's it's definition. These cyborg abominations are not finished. Humanity will be reborn in gods image, their god being WAU.
hmmm, the question is, will the WAU´s pattern allow for such optimization, or will it continue to simplify it´s task due to possible future power outtages and structural collapses...
After watching all of your Soma model videos...I don't know how anyone can argue to keep the WAU alive considering what it does/how it does. Does it's small potential for fixing things make it's hellish actions in anyway justified?
Well, there is actually a very interesting Video on UA-cam about that very topic, it has been released a while ago and i don´t remember the Name of the Channel but I believe it was called Devils Advocate - "Should the WAU be left alive" or something like that
Eels and angler fish are already so horrifying to look at, that adding faces and wires to them really doesn't change much. lol Just think, though. We always think about aliens coming to our planet and worry about them being monsters that would destroy or dominate us. Well, what do you think aliens in the Soma universe would do when they saw what the WAU, our creation, had been up to? They'd probably high-tail it out of there and nuke it from orbit.
Well Catherine explained that the Fleshers exude electromagnetism which distorts Simons facial sensors, while Simon describes them as "strangely overbearing" the lights flickering are probably a sign of this energy building up and being released, the same lights can also be seen on the Robot Head Girl when she is agitated and also on the "mouth" of Johan Ross, when he is talking overall blue lights appear to be an indicator of activity on beings that relate to the WAU even the fish have shining blue eyes and the anglers lure has the same colour as well on an interesting side note: several species of deep sea fish and other life forms use bio-luminescence as a means of communication, particularly through vibrant colour patterns and flickering, so perhaps that is what inspired them
A question in all of this, when you see human faces encased in animals. Are they real human beings and are they conscious? Or, is it the Wau implanting humaoid physical features somehow into other living creations simply becauseof its perverted understanding and drive to preserve humanity? I think it's the latter.
Know whats kinda weird? I've only ever encountered the Anglerfish and the Leviathan. Never seen the other two (or, if I did, I didnt register them as threats).
Well the Viperfish hunt you in a swarm in the stormy area, but the will appear behind you and as long as you don´t dawdle they won´t catch you the rest are not hostile and will swim about in the background in several areas, such as the Eel that, as seen in the video will float about above you
Do the faces on the fish come from their prey? Are they result of the WAU trying to imitate humans? Or is it something different? Either way, horrifying to think about, and I’m kind of glad they left it up to the imagination.

Ah yes. Roanokes favorite little boy.
It's very odd that the Leviathan can apparently fit perfectly through that tunnel after the heart of the WAU. Either it was adapted specifically for that or it's been merged with some sort of machine that was built for the tunnel.
All the cractures with the grey faces look like they could be in Dark Souls
Big junji ito vibes
"Could we have your comment on SOMA fishes?" "Nononononononononono"
It took the drone
IT TOOK THE FUCKIN DRONE!
Can't have shit in the ABYSS
Those are some sick WoW enemies!
4:14 well fuck that i ain playing soma
Why would the fish have human faces? Hell, do I even _want_ to know?
"I should play SOMA sometime.."
My agoraphobia : "Nooo..no no no no no no no no. No."
Bro your content is exelent, can you do the outlast series monsters and enemies?
unfortunately I don´t have the necessary software and knowledge for that
When a paperclip maximizer AI decides to keep some humans alive by turning them inhuman.
there is no corruption within, its going and doing what have been told and instructed, its perfect with every sense
These fishes with human face in their bodies remind me of junji ito creature from "The Thing That Drifted Ashore" especially the Leviathan.
When the Human told the WAU to "preserve humanity", it just okay then process to put human features on everything.
WAU would run out of structure gel and the living ocean life would evolve into new forms, eventually maybe intelligent forms, and discover the dead apex species, humans, of the past.
Awesome video! I really appreciate all the detail you give when examining the models
On another note do you think you will be doing a video like this on Jin Yoshida? No rush at all mate , appreciate you👍🏻
Yoshida will be up on Sunday
i think my leviathan was meaty.. strange
Humanity will be reborn in gods image, their god being WAU.
hmmm, the question is,
will the WAU´s pattern allow for such optimization, or will it continue to simplify it´s task due to possible future power outtages and structural collapses...
After watching all of your Soma model videos...I don't know how anyone can argue to keep the WAU alive considering what it does/how it does. Does it's small potential for fixing things make it's hellish actions in anyway justified?
Well, there is actually a very interesting Video on UA-cam about that very topic, it has been released a while ago and i don´t remember the Name of the Channel but I believe it was called Devils Advocate - "Should the WAU be left alive" or something like that
Woah dude this is innsmouth backwards
Eels and angler fish are already so horrifying to look at, that adding faces and wires to them really doesn't change much. lol
Just think, though. We always think about aliens coming to our planet and worry about them being monsters that would destroy or dominate us. Well, what do you think aliens in the Soma universe would do when they saw what the WAU, our creation, had been up to? They'd probably high-tail it out of there and nuke it from orbit.
Deep Sea creatures sure have that Aura around them
There's something about those blue little lights on the leviathian, they flicker when ever the screen glitches, same for Flesher, what's up with that?
Well Catherine explained that the Fleshers exude electromagnetism which distorts Simons facial sensors, while Simon describes them as "strangely overbearing"
the lights flickering are probably a sign of this energy building up and being released, the same lights can also be seen on the Robot Head Girl when she is agitated and also on the "mouth" of Johan Ross, when he is talking
overall blue lights appear to be an indicator of activity on beings that relate to the WAU
even the fish have shining blue eyes and the anglers lure has the same colour as well
on an interesting side note:
several species of deep sea fish and other life forms use bio-luminescence as a means of communication, particularly through vibrant colour patterns and flickering, so perhaps that is what inspired them
@@umukzusgelos4834 Ahh, interesting. Man, it surprises me how there's still things to learn about this game and I love it
where you get these from, dude?
so cool being able to see the Soma monsters in HD & close up..
Those look like fist, at least.
Nice video :3
Thank You
A question in all of this, when you see human faces encased in animals. Are they real human beings and are they conscious? Or, is it the Wau implanting humaoid physical features somehow into other living creations simply becauseof its perverted understanding and drive to preserve humanity? I think it's the latter.
those are all sentient human made from the copy of human memories, just like simon is.
Know whats kinda weird? I've only ever encountered the Anglerfish and the Leviathan. Never seen the other two (or, if I did, I didnt register them as threats).
Well the Viperfish hunt you in a swarm in the stormy area, but the will appear behind you and as long as you don´t dawdle they won´t catch you
the rest are not hostile and will swim about in the background in several areas, such as the Eel that, as seen in the video will float about above you
Its a little weird the Gulping eel has faces, like why? Everything else looks so cool about it
I haven't seen the great white shark in the game. Was cut from the game? The only shark I did see what a hammerhead shark that was high up
I believe it floats in one of the earlier water levels, but it´s far away
Wonder what original species of the Leviathan could be?
giant squid
According to in game files, a giant squid
Whats the music around 4:10?
Great vids btw, love this stuff
it´s called "adultflesher stalk"
@@umukzusgelos4834 thank you king, keep up the great work!
oh fuck the faces blink...
dude I have never played SOMA how the hell did they decide making goo that changes stuff like (that) was a good idea?
Do the faces on the fish come from their prey? Are they result of the WAU trying to imitate humans? Or is it something different?
Either way, horrifying to think about, and I’m kind of glad they left it up to the imagination.
I doubt that's the case, but man imagine getting killed by a monster then the next thing you find yourself a part of it.
I hate that the human faces move. Never noticed it.
