Lol... "Yesterday was a really warm day...a high of 5 degrees".....I am amazed how you have so many thriving tropicals. You make me feel guilty for living in Sydney, Australia. My tropicals are outside all year round...I see your trees and I appreciate what it must take for them to be as healthy as they are. Your channel inspired my love of ficus bonsai. But yea...I feel guilty because I don't have your knowledge and skill, yet I have a much better natural environment for tropicals. Thank you for your incredibly inspiring videos. I feel like so much less of a freak when I see how obsessed with trees and bonsai the rest of you are. I could listen to you all day on repeat and never get sick of it. I look around me everyday, and there are beautiful trees everywhere, and I know I'm not the only one noticing how awesome they are.😊
Beautiful comment! Nigel has also made me really appreciate trees around me
Thanks so much, you made me smile!!!
I'm one of those crazies who likes going for drives in rain and snow.
I also like going to the beach in the rain...I have it all to myself!😋
Thank you for sharing. 🙏 Nice save on the ice lid! 😂
You bet!
That schefflera is one of the classics!
First!
Nice
Ah it seems like a lot of people love this tree of yours! I'm not a big fan of how the leaves grow together on schefflera but it is one I've wanted to try growing when I have more space to keep trees warm and with access to light in the winter. I will admit that branch structures like this one cemented the Clip and Grow method for me. Thank you for sharing!
Oh I also meant to include that I appreciate the information on scales and how to get rid of them! I hear a lot of people talking about different insects on their Bonsai but I'm still pretty green to this Hobby and my current plants have never been outside because I lost too many to Critters Last Summer so they never got the chance to be invested 😅
Thanks so much Nigel.
Many years ago this was the first tree of yours to inspire me to dive deep into the hobby. The clump I started back then has been developing a fantastic structure and continues to make progress under your tutelage. I was very fortunate to be in Florida at the time. The initial years of development were aided by 24/7/365 of sun, heat and humidity which really jump started its initial structure. I’m very excited to watch the remaining videos. Thanks, keep growing
I have a couple of schefflera bonsai that I bought from David Fukumoto who sadly passed away in November. Mine are purely indoor plants so your tips on leaf pruning are greatly appreciated.
I loved the "Canadian Ice Bucket" 😄
The Schefflera is an awesome planting. I hope the scale insects are gone now!
By the way, I think I had my first case of scale insects recently (or at least the first I noticed).
It made me wonder where they suddenly come from. It feels like they just pop out of nowhere!
Very nice..your bonsai
Nice to see Schefflera again ^^, it's spectacular. And about another new pair of trees... ow Nigel you're treasure :) and we love you
Hello Nigel, I have been following your channel since 2016. You were my biggest inspiration for starting bonsai. I really appreciate the knowledge you share in the videos.
If you are interested in seeing some of my plants, please let me know.
Thanks.
I love that planting! My schefflera is alive, but I am still trying to figure out how to get it growing! Perhaps I'm not abusing it enough LOL It absolutely detests being in the house. But!!! One day, hopefully will start to spread out... Or die trying...😅
More trees the better! Cant wait to see the new trees over the coming years!
if I had your greenhouse or basement... i'd order ladybugs to fight the scale insects :)
you can find some native ones for a bit over 20$ for 250 ladybugs... and you'd be helping the native ones survive the invasion too...
Good morning for tropicals Thursday. 🌴🌵
We had a really warm December here in the Bay Area of California, reaching into the low 60's in the day and mid 40's at night. This was early march weather from November 29th to January 3rd, and it set off a LOT of plants that grow here! There is a Quince hedge in our property that still has some leaves on it, but it's growing flower and leaf buds all over it! I saw a tree today that was blooming as well! I love watching the progression of your schefflera as it spreads out like a banyan! Watching your videos is true therapy!
I'm from Czech Republic and we hade some warm water too but now it gets colder and colder but my Quince have flowers too. 🌺
This bone structure on the Schef is something, really cool. At least the heaters are working for you in the greenhouse.
33F/1C at 8am here. They are predicting lows of -8F/-22C for Sunday with a high of 5F/-15C as a high. Definitely tea weather.
Hopefully the water flows out of the tote with that slow moving faucet. It should once the water keeps moving. Hopefully all the plants stay well with the cold moving in. At least the cold kills off a lot of bad pathogens.
one of my favorite trees in the zone, cut and grow really nice flo beautifully
This is one of your coolest trees
❤😊thx Nigel
I really like this tree so much so that I bought one. I've been developing it for three years. I live in Chicagoland and it's currently in the basement in a tent with my other tropicals. Under a 2ft x 2ft Mars hydro light. Lot's of heat and humidity it's going absolutely crazy with aerial roots. I'm really hoping to see the history of this tree like the other trees you've done this season. I know I could go back and look at the history but it's so much better with your narration.
Got to be honest the snake took me by surprise! 😂😂
I use Ikea shoe tray "baggmuck" under my trees works well for watering ✌
👍👌👌
Better late than never. 🎉🎉
5C.... a warm day.. Today were are forecast for 37C (warm) and tomorrow 41C (hot)😂 Perth, Western Australia
