Do y'all remember Woody from Dru Hill. Remember he grown up in the church. He was the only one that felt the music was wrong. And decided to leave the group. He said Record Label said he could do a Gospel album. And it never happened. 🙆🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
I have been treated so poorly by church leaders, I'm seriously considering starting a career as a blues musician and singer! My most recent senior pastor was trying to do my job! He would change songs in worship plans... ...after they were already scheduled! I would plan our Christmas concert every year, and compose the orchestral score, and, out of pure jealousy, he took that over and tried to do it himself! He dumbed it down to a level he could "control" it... I've had more genuineness from people in the secular music world than I EVER have in church!!!
It's hard to separate the 2. Look at Whitney and Sam Cooke and so many others that really tried to straddle the fence and do good. They went too far and couldn't come back. To me, they tried to serve God and man. It didn't work. It doesn't work.
We need to support people who do wholesome music more both secular and christian. Example: Koryn Hawthorne, PJ Morton, India Arie, even Mela. This includes rap. Unless its a really, really long car ride, these are the artists I expose my kids to. They get the secular automatically through YT, IG and my kids dont even have accounts. Just their friends and dances. But let me play some Mali or Anika...even Jackie Hill Perry. We get to groove and then talk about what the song means. 🎵 I believe the children are our future lol 😅
11:23 it’s an interesting question… as a vocation I don’t think this is wrong. The question is what will you do with the opportunity. How will God get the glory through that opportunity. This also applies to jobs that are not in the entertainment industry as well.
You have been given the gifts to glorify God. Money is not the goal. Satan was the chief musician, lost his job, and is constantly trying to draw people away. Some opportunities are a tactic of Satan to draw you away.

3:22 yep auditions, rehearsal, lights, camera, action!
Yes the industry is using the church

Amen to all you said!
I’ve been saying this for at least a decade.

10:12 yes!
It’s funny how a lot of those singers you named who started in the church eventually lost their voice god gifted them with. Whitney, Mariah, Jodeci…
Slippery slope and the devil can bless you too.

Church is the G- League for sure
