Let’s go! I’m so excited to start the advent calendar with you all! If you want to join in, download your copy here! dewintonpaperco.etsy.com/listing/1095065616
We are day after thanksgiving people. We buy ours on the way home from visiting family. We are all ready with decorated home for the lovely month of Jesus’ birthday celebration 🥰
Good morning, Harriet. It's so lovely to be painting the advent calendar with you again. We were never allowed to put the tree up until after my mums birthday on 14th December. Even though she's been gone 3 years now, we have continued the tradition in her memory. ❤
Me similar. My sons birthday is the 10th, and I always wanted his birthday to be separated from Christmas. Now, at 48years old he just goes to Portugal on a golfing holiday with friends 😂😂 x
What a lovely way to start Advent. As a child our tree never went up until after the 16th (my birthday, and I am a Christmas Carol). Nowadays it's whenever my grandson (5) says it's time lol. Thankyou Harriet for sharing your talent with us x
I am so heartbroken. With all that has been going on in my life, i completely forgot to order my advent calendar. Between the flooding in my area at the end of September from hurricane Helene, being in the middle of buying my brother's half of my late mother's house....I have been busy to say the least. Not to mention trying to save every penny we can. 😢 Life goes on as they say. I will still enjoy watching you all month.
@SheriMiller-lw9xu I didn't even know you could order one...I just divided up 2 pieces of paper and hinged them with a strip of tape at the back so that it stands up! Xxx
WhoooooHooooooo!!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳 YAY!!! I've been waiting ALL year for this!!! Thank You... Each year I'm more prepared and can't wait to get started!!!! We used to wait until our school's classroom tree was no longer needed, then we brought it home for the holidays... repurposed and much appreciated with 6 children. Now they are all grown up with families of their own. They didn't want Grandpa and Grandma's house to be 'tree-less', so they bought us a 'fake tree' from the thrift shop. Now they all come over on Dec 1 and help us put it together and up. Don't we all need a bright spot of light to cheer and guide us in the dark winter nights as we trudge through the cold and rainy season. Thank you for sharing with us!!! 💖💫
Here in Germany, traditionally we don't put up our trees until the 23rd or 24th of December. We keep them at least till January 6th, some don't throw theirs out before the beginning of February. Since most people here like to have real, natural trees, we can't get them much earlier, they wouldn't hold up in a warm house. In my family, we get the tree in on the 23rd to avoid stress on Christmas Eve, because in Germany, that's the day we celebrate with going to church, presents and everything.
I found this today and just painted my tree! I’m all decorated- the tree went up before Thanksgiving so everyone was together to decorate (US obviously). I’m excited to progress with you🎄
Year three! My morning tea with Harriett and color. 🎄We put our tree up on the twelfth. A tradition we started after our youngest son’s birthday on the sixth. We also like to keep it up into the new year. It stays a bit fresher waiting. 🎄
Trees used to be real so they couldn’t be brought in the house until the weekend before Christmas. Daddy would take me into the woods and cut one down. One of my fondest memories.
I painted Day 1!! Last year I was just a few weeks into painting with watercolor and thought the calendar was beyond me ... I watched everyday and somewhere around Dec 10 tried and kept going. No masterpieces but I learned a lot so am so excited for this year. Thanks Harriet (and Ant :) ) ... for this Advent event. ❤❤❤
That sounds like the perfect way to approach Liz. It's all about making it work for you and if that means just watching and not painting some days, that's still wonderful to have you here with us!
Just lovely! Thank you for this lovely time. No tree here until Christmas Day! Then we keep it up for quite a while. We keep Christmas going for many many days!
Good morning Harriet! Absolutely loving this, not only the painting to look forward to but also the lovely feel of friendship here. We were very much like you regarding putting up the tree. Mum and Dad put ours up two weeks before Christmas, never before, and it stayed up until 6 January (for my brother’s birthday) on Epiphany. We do exactly the same, as I love family traditions and I feel it helps me keep those links to Mum and Dad. I’m not a fan of trees going up in November, for me, it would lose the magic. Xxx
So exited to do this with you again, dear Harriet ❤️ it’s my third year in a row 🎉 we always made the tree with my dad on Christmas Eve 🥰 and now I always wait until very close to it, like 22nd, 23rd 😅😅 I feel like if I do it to early, by the time the actual Christmas comes I’ll lose the excitement of having it and it just becomes a piece of furniture 🫠 but that’s just me and I LOVE your 🎄 and I can’t wait to sit down and paint it too ❤
Hiya, this is my first time joining in and I've just finished day one. I would have liked more time, but this has definitely been a fun start to the advent countdown.
Oh, Hi😇. I am so happy I found you! It’s been TOO LONG since I’ve painted and you’ve given me a reason to get back into it! The last two years have been painfully sad for me and painting has been one tool to help. Last year I didn’t decorate at all and we left town for Christmas. When we returned, I gifted myself a ALL YEAR tree. It’s only 18” in diameter and 6’ tall. So I decorated it for Valentines, then Easter/Spring, then 4th of July, Fall and now finally I will do a Christmas theme. Thank you for sharing your creativity to inspire us this holiday season!
We usually put u[ our tree and indoor/outdoor decorations within a week of Thanksgiving. All set here now…and had a light snowfall to add to the “feels”.
What a great start to this years calendar. What a pretty tree. We already have our Christmas decorations up. Started when our daughter was young as her birthday was on the 4th December and that was one of her birthday gifts she wanted. So ever since. (She is now much older and no longer at home). We put our decorations up the 1st weekend in advent. Then after December. We change the decorations on the tree (now a mini one on a table) to winter decorations. Taking down tinsel an pretty Christmas decorations. Leaving the lovely glowing lights around the room until well into the New Year to give the house a lovely warmth during the winter. So excited to be doing the calendar with you again Harriet, I cannot believe where the last year went. Thank you for the upcoming videos. :)
So very happy to spend Advent painting with you for the second year. After an entire year of watching and learning from your videos I am more confident about this calendar. Thank you for making my Christmas season that much more festive. 🌲💗🌲💗🌲💗
Morning Harriet! Hope you’ve been having a good weekend! That subtle glow is such a fab idea and great instructions as usual. We’ve had our tree up for about 2 weeks now 😅. Putting the tree up has to be one of my most favourite parts of Christmas. Haven’t had the best year, so it’s been nice to have it up early and see the twinkling lights everyday! People in our area usually start putting up decorations the 1st of November ❤
This is my third advent calendar and I love the experience! :) When I was little we used to decorate the tree on Christmas eve, but ever since my son has any say in it we have a new tradition. We decorate the tree, while watching Home alone on December 1st. 🎄
Good Morning, This will be my first time to follow along with you. What a lovely idea. Tree is charming. As for decorating--our home is decked out and ready. We now use artificial trees. I really love my decorations and like to enjoy them. Blessings from Sue in Southern,Delaware
Good morning Harriet! Lovely tree to start our day. Since we now have an artificial tree it usually goes up much earlier in December. Mine is up with lights and the plan is to decorate it today. I'm looking forward to wandering down memory lane as I put the ornaments on.
Hello Dear Harriet, Thank you for this first day of this advent calendar! Lovely painting 🥰 The Christmas tree is on first week of december here in The Netherlands 🎄
How delightful!! It is 10am here in my part of the states (Michigan) snow on the ground and fireplace going….I’m so looking forward to painting this with you..p.s. Harriett my husband heard your voice and said “she has such a delightful voice”😊
Good morning from West TX!! We start putting out decorations around the first. Tree will go up mid-December. Outside lights next weekend. Thanks for this fun time!!
I was so nervous to use this small size of brushes in this tiny square.........and as I am also a messy painter, I was so afraid I would get paint in blank spaces........but I did it and am ok with the results! Thank you!
I was just telling my husband the other day that our family put the tree up around the 15th. If we were to wait that long these days, we would never find one. They sell so fast.
Hi! It’s my first time painting the advent calendar! When I was little we also decorated the tree around the 15 December… But sometimes we even had “only “ the nativity scene, with many figures and a cork house…. Today , in Portugal, everyone has a Christmas tree, but 30 or 40 years it wasn’t like that!! Well…my mother still has only the nativity scene:-P
We decorate the house right before Thanksgiving. This year we had a flood in our basement where everything was. I was able to save almost everything. We do artificial trees in the house. Do you or anyone decorate the outside. We lost our homemade outdoor decorations. I'm making more.
My Christmas tree is up as of Sunday this year but that's only because my friend has to help me do it now and that's the only time she was free. Before I was disabled, my tree would go up on the 12th, which was my mum's birthday and when she used to do hers. Then it was up for the 12 days before Christmas and the 12 days after, coming down on Twelfth Night.
Let’s go! I’m so excited to start the advent calendar with you all! If you want to join in, download your copy here! dewintonpaperco.etsy.com/listing/1095065616

Yeah!!! Finishing mine off with GOLD sparkle. Just because I can 😅 xxxx
Love it!!
My 11 yrs old daughter is loving this. Thank you
I'm glad! It's great to hear that painters of all ages can enjoy it!

My mums birthday is also on the 14th, so like you, our tree is never up before then ❤
Haha! That’s one way to differentiate!
I totally sympathise, not that I have a December birthday but I imagine it must be frustrating to compete with Christmas!
Wonderful, cannot wait till tomorrow!
I love that little paint palette too
What a lovely way to start Advent. As a child our tree never went up until after the 16th (my birthday, and I am a Christmas Carol). Nowadays it's whenever my grandson (5) says it's time lol.

Hey Shri, you can just paint on any piece of paper if you dont have one of my prints!
I hope things get better for you! I live in the Tampa area and know how hard it’s been for so many. God bless!
I love to start this with you for the 4. time. Thank you so much for this cosy time in Advent. Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
You are so welcome!
And the fun begins! Merry Christmas!🎄 ❤️
Same to you!

Love it! I'm happy that I ordered the 24 Advent Calendar kit to paint along this year. See you tomorrow.
Yay! It's here! Beautiful start. I am going to enjoy each and every one!

Love that!

How amazing x
Our tree is real. It lasts a month. About the first of January it shlurps up and ornaments begin to fall off if we don’t take it down in time.
Very happy, thank you Harriet!❤️
You are so welcome!🤗
I love that little Christmas tree! 😊
I painted Day 1!! Last year I was just a few weeks into painting with watercolor and thought the calendar was beyond me ... I watched everyday and somewhere around Dec 10 tried and kept going. My college daughter was home for Thanksgiving...got our tree on Friday then decorated Saturday morning before she left for school.
That is awesome!

So cool! We watch home alone too when we decorate… we’re just discussing when to get ours and it feels like it’s come around so fast this year!

Hello Dear Harriet,
Thank you for this first day of this advent calendar!
Lovely painting 🥰
The Christmas tree is on first week of december here in The Netherlands 🎄
Thank you! You too!
💜💜💜
How delightful!! It is 10am here in my part of the states (Michigan) snow on the ground and fireplace going….I’m so looking forward to painting this with you..p.s. Harriett my husband heard your voice and said “she has such a delightful voice”😊
Sounds very christmassy! Very glad to hear your husband likes my voice as he will be hearing a lot of it in December!
What an amazing start to the advent calender! I'm grabbing my brushes as we speak. Here the christmas tree comes up around 20 November. 😅
Happy holidays!
I love the advent series Harriet ty 😊
You’re welcome!

We always got our tree on my brother’s birthday, December 12. We would have cake and decorate the tree.
I was just telling my husband the other day that our family put the tree up around the 15th. If we were to wait that long these days, we would never find one. They sell so fast.

Mine is an artificial tree, and I had it up before Thanksgiving! I actually have several trees (smaller) all around my apartment!
That is awesome!
No tree, we prefer to get one about 1 week before Christmas!
I feel like artificial trees make it easy (and safe!) to put up the tree earlier. My cousins always put up their live tree on Christmas Eve!
I love that we have so much choice these days.
We decorate the house right before Thanksgiving. This year we had a flood in our basement where everything was. I was able to save almost everything. We do artificial trees in the house. Do you or anyone decorate the outside. We lost our homemade outdoor decorations. I'm making more.

Our tree has been up since Nov 16/17 😅
Wow!
Oh, my! When I was young, and still not so young, our tree went up on Christmas Eve. Is there an address where I can order the travel paint set?
It’s sold out now Nancu
⚾️
I'm not sure my printer will take watercolour card so I was wondering how big the squares are. Thanks
Hi Doreen the squares are approx 5x4cm
@deWintonPaperCo thanks
You asked when our trees were put up? Never prior to December 10th or so.a real tree, 13 children, many presents under thee tree difficult to water.
My tree has been up for two weeks (lol)
haha! Love it! I think we're going to get ours tomorrow
