EXPECT A NEW VIDEO EVERY WEEK!
My favorite editing moment was the montage of when Christain was annoying Alec during the immunity challenge.
Sometimes a simple montage is all it takes to elevate a season.
I’m not gonna lie I love Christian, but I don’t think I could stand 5 straight hours of listening to him ramble while I stand in the hot sun trying to win immunity.
The montage of Nick inserting himself into everyone's conversations in winners at war was super funny
I thought this would be #1 on this video.
That was hilarious
If I was ever on Survivor I do the same thing but I wouldn't let people see me listening to their conversations like say people are in the shelter talking about who they want to vote out I would place myself behind the shelter where nobody could see me listening to their conversation and I would make it look like I was doing something so if I get caught I can say what conversation I was just doing this that or the other thing
The 'Jay DOES have an idol' sequence is pure art
Wait so Jay does have an idol that's good to know
I love that in Koah-Rong, everytime Debby says she has a different profession, the editors change her card at the bottom of the screen.
Another moment is when Tony finds the shark and everyone in their confessionals re-enacts the moment 😂
That's one of my favorite moments, especially with 3 cutie pie dudes.
When he thought he saw a shark in season 28 he called the strongest toughest person he knew ..........which was Trish she is that Boston bombshell that we all love she has such a Massachusetts attitude and I love it her mannerisms are so Massachusetts like when she said oh do I annoy you now ask me if I care everybody in Massachusetts says stuff like that
You actually incidentally hit on the rarest of editing tricks: giving Carter a confessional
"There was this sauce ..."
I like Carter he seems like a super introvert
@@EzraDair According to the cast he was a very funny guy, just not good TV.
Apparently before the reunion aired, the cast was backstage and when Malcolm was out of the room Carter said "Ok, Jeff is going to ask us 'If Malcolm were in the final 3, who would vote for him?' We should all not raise our hands as a joke, because everyone will expect us all to say we would vote for him to win."
Which is exactly what happened - Jeff asked this question and nobody (except maybe 1 or 2 that weren't in on the joke?) raised their hands, which I remembered shocked the audience/viewers at the time, because everyone thought "Oh, if Malcom had made it to the end he wins easily."
Who?
You should see him at the grocery store.
Russell: "We need to weed off the weak."
Rob: "Who do you suggest?"
Russell: "One of these two."
*cuts to wide shot of Sandra and Courtney sitting with the 2 guys*
That’s one of my favorite moments. You’d think they weren’t there but they’re within two feet of Russell when he said that 😂
You just know that the crew members were trying to hold back their laughter as they got that moment on tape
My favorite is probably the very beginning of Tocantins, where the editors cut between Erinn and Tyson talking about each other. The scene went something like this:
Erinn, in a confessional: The blonde tall guy looks like a good guy to have on your team
Cut to Tyson in a confessional: The short brown-haired girl looks like... the b****.
I loved when they kept changing Debbie’s occupation onscreen and Phillip having a question mark after his
I can’t be the only one who recites things Jeff says with him like “Stay tuned for scenes from our next episodes” and “Once the votes are read the decision is final, the person voted out is asked to leave the tribal council area immediately, I’ll go tally the votes” I deepen my voice and everything lol
No you're not. I do that all the time too. Actually, until now, I thought I was the only one. I also quote some of my favorite players.
COME ON IN GU-
Oh wait
@@MrBen51309 wow lol😂
Not sure what to call it but I love the editing in game changers with the sugar feud where it cuts from JT getting mad to Sandra eating the sugar to JT confronting Michaela to Sandra hiding in the trees smirking
The Debbie-Brad moment in Game Changers was HILARIOUS. It’s just fun to see Debbie freaking for something that was clearly her fault. 😂
Tocantins has a lot of really subtle visual effects, sometimes in challenges there's a weird dolly zoom on the contestants where the background distorts behind them, also there's a cool sky transition in the individual pole challenge Tyson wins, and some funky cuts in the giant maze challenge near the end of the season. I just rewatched this season and was noticing all of them :)
Whoa, ellis, it's almost like you're a film major or something
@@noahkamens1634 lmaoo no shot I've been caught in 4k
"Did you hear what Will told Zeke?" is one of the funniest and best-timed moments in the entire show
The first time Shan started humming her theme, they added a matching track over it. I'm a little sad they didn't keep doing it.
that Jerry/Parvati duel confessional was the best thing ever.
edit: the confessional in the middle of a challenge in Survivor 41 really surprised me. also the Ponderosa rap😭
Sort of in line with the storytelling and the editing, would you ever consider making a video talking about the various Survivor scores? (background music) I think recently they've really upped there game in that department, winners at war probably had my favorite score of any season ever. You could even talk about Australian Survivor's music which is quite different from ours.
If he doesn't I will! 😂
I haven't watched the full show in years, but after HvV which had the best soundtrack in the first 20 seasons, not even close, nothing really stood out to me in later seasons. I quit watching before One World, I think,
When Amanda came back and didn’t have an idol but recruited Parv to help her dig it up. Love that moment in tribal. One of the few times they didn’t show someone finding an idol.
Wish they did that more, it keeps us guessing!
Amanda's 10/10 acting job was the cherry on top.
My favorite ever moment was the timelapse in DvG when Christian is spouting off the lid during the immunity challenge, it was the hardest I've ever laughed during a season.
You forgot about Bruce in pain at camp moaning then cutting to Danielle on reward moaning during her massage. Probably the funniest editing ever
What was wrong with Bruce? 🤔
That's not funny, considering the amount of pain Bruce was in. Maybe the Danielle part. I always skip over that episode whenever I watch that season.
@@kellydaunis no one's saying Bruce's injury was funny...just the editing
When JT gave away his idol and Rupert said Russell is probably unable to contain himself. Next scene he's laughing with Parvati at the letter.
I don't think it's particularly flashy but the Montage at the end reminded me of season 38 when Aubry is saying the same things to each of the tribe members. I particularly liked that bit in editing.
1. Survivor 41 - Jeff and the editing pointing toward the hidden advantage during the challenge that Xander sits out.
2. Again 41 - where the editing is constantly cutting back and forth between "am I going?", "is it me?", "it might be you" etc
One of my favorite edits is when Shane shows his groin to Cirie and we see an owl looking intently as if it's reacting to Shane's man parts.
One of my favorite creative edits is from One World during the memory challenge where they edited Jeff telling the contestants to reset into a song lol
maria and charlie in 46 is also a great back-and-forth confessional. it's probably even my favorite
One of my favorite editing moments is all the way back in Australia where Ogakor was sitting around the campfire and right when Jerri starts singing, the editors add in all the honking geese noises
Another time the editors used two peoples confessionals was in the premier of tocantians where Erinn says “blond guy love him” then it cuts to Tyson calling her a bitch lol
This one goes under the radar: whenever a person swears, they edit in a faint drum or cymbal hit 😁
one of my favorite editing tricks is in caramoan during a the waterfall/picnic guys reward. cochran is talking about how he is conquering his fears and “zooming down the waterfall”. then they immediately cut to him VERY SLOWLY repelling down it 😂💀 so funny
The 41 flashbacks were awesome. I hope this is something they continue
My golden editing moments were the first minutes of hero’s vs. villains. When the camera just shows their iconic parts like Colby’s cowboy head the Bosten Red Sox basecap the dragon tattoo the tie die shirt and you just know this will be an epic season.
During David v Goliath, the time when Christian was talking about slide puzzles and they timelapse his interview.
As a musician, I actually appreciate sounds. Whenever someone says something SHOCKING, they usually play or add some sort of sound effect to the music to accent that odd moment of statement.
That's what I notice.
I always remark on the dramatic survivor music. Like when they want us to have sympathy for someone we have a violin sounding theme 😂
The only editing technique that I can think of that is very unique is back in Survivor Micronesia at the final 6 where Amanda and the other Black Widow Brigade members hatch a plan to blindside Alexis with an idol. Basically, its where Amanda has a moment where she's narrating about how she came back from Exile Island and then talks to Parvati about finding an idol under the tribe's flag. Amanda then mentions that if she doesn't find the idol then she's screwed. Which leads to a power move on her part by Fake Tears and then fools everyone (except Parvati) by playing the idol for herself and blindsides Alexis.
Probably the best form of surprise editing in my opinion.
My favourite part is when all of the nature setting shots in an episode was a snake eating an entire lizard whole. I think it was in one of the early seasons, but I forget exactly when
survivor AUS has some really breathtaking scenes. Especially with their final 3 challenges
I absolutely loved how for WaW they had that song playing over some parts of the challenges, like right when Tyson won the return challenge
I know it's been discussed before, but I'll never forget one of the originals, The Amanda Kimmel of Survivor China, Survivor Micronesia & Survivor: Heroes vs Villains fame, when she pulls out the idol at Final 6.
Nick walking in on conversations in Winners at War.
The freeze frames of James and frosty are some of my favorite moments. Makes the whole challenge that much more exciting
The Russell Swan edit in Philippine was great. Love how it has a bit of a 4th wall moment when he talks to the camera🤣🤣
When they list all of Debbie’s jobs on the screen
I wanted them to talk about the debbie incident way more because of how mad it made me at home hahaha. she was wildin
Add at the end Wendell entering Ponderosa in S40 and singing Chris' lyrics.
The entire Coach Exile excursion in Tocancins.
3:03 My favorite flash in survivor history would have to be the Gabon premiere
In survivor second chance when Joe passes out they do a cool little blur effect that really intensifies the moment
Survivor 41 when we were unsure if Danny had an idol. IMO this is how survivor needs to be edited
My favorite editing moment is in survivor Tocantins.During a challenge there is a montage of the contestants shimmying around the maze. it’s very fun to watch.
I love it
I loved the "no." montage in S24's memory challenge
I think back to EoE and the montage of Aubry trying to build connections. "If we could a dialogue?" and "You remind me of myself".
One of my favorites is in Winner at War in the montage when the person they are voting for keeps changing
Burgers elapsed is one of my all time favorite survivor moments
When they switched Debbie's occupations I died
The way that Christian explains how he found the idol breaking up the island into sectors is how I always said that I would look for one and I'm surprised other contestants haven't done the same thing that's how I always look for everything is I break the area down into sectors
6:28 I just pictured that as you putting on your best Jeff voice and doing a perfect job :D
I love the opening dueling confessionals in Tocantins where they just have pairs of people insulting each other to the cameras🤣
I was thinking in winners at war. When tony grabbed the shark and was telling the story. After the screamed the rest of the people who where there also screamed
I don’t care how you feel about 41 as a season, but holy fuck, if there weren’t some genius editing moments.
Speaking of cut confessionals, never forget Tony catching the shark and everyone yelling 'AHHH'
It also deserves to be mentioned that the music team works really hard to make these flashy moments happen. Just watch the Culpepper “4 with 5” segment and listen to how they stop and start over with him. It truly is editing gold.
I didn't think much about the video, but the rap at the end was spot on. So funny.
I have 1 more. That being the merge episode in season 41. That being of course Erica on exile island regarding the choice she had in front of her. We didn’t know at the time but that is a super important confessional. It was a huge turning point in the game from the eventual winner. Even if we didn’t know it at the time. Plus she was 1 of the most under edited winners in the history of the game. Credit should be given to Sophie Clark because she predicted weeks earlier that Erica was the winner.
What did this have to do with editing? Are you referring to the flashback?
The shambo nightmare edit
when the editors made a song from scratch for contstants working at camp. I think in amazon
That ending tho lmao
don't forget WAW when tony finds the shark~ cutting between the screams
I like EoE where they're talking about Wendy not being that crazy right before her confessional.
Wait, Jay had an idol?
🤣🤣
3:03 I’M DYING 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I personally love when they dunk on Aubrey in EoE
I love Aubrey but the girl deserved it lmao. Who the fuck says “I want to start a dialogue with you” and then repeats that to everyone on the tribe verbatim
Thank you for posting the video.
season 41 had some really good editing.
And some really bad editing. There are some techniques that I liked, but the way they edited the players was really bad.
Are you hinting at a best tribal confessionals vid? Cause “you can’t rap” is such a good one🤣
Excellent video!
Tony with the shark quick cut!
I’ve literally not watched survivor since maybe 2008 but I still love watching your videos i think I’ve maybe watched 20.
I agree fully about the flash forwards in S39 not really working. The payoff of those moments almost never lived up to what they seemed to be from the little sneak peeks.
Do you think Jay had an idol, I cant figure it out
Love the new Logo/animation!
Morgan behind hahahaha
There is an earlier instance of the "flash-forward" edit. After the first episode of San Juan del Sur, instead of the normal (at the time) "Next Time on ... Survivor" clips, they had a special "This season on ... Survivor" and showed a bunch of clips from upcoming episodes (including some post-merge episodes if I'm not mistaken).
I pretty sure this was SJdS, but I'm not 100% sure. Feel free to correct me if I got the wrong season.
Fwiw, the extra footage of the environment is called B-roll. If you want to be technical 😉
Oh the long lost Chris’s rap
I think about that moment when Christian split the island onto sectors ALL THE TIME. Probably one of the most memorable moments in survivor for me.
I got a new idea for a video the best/worst ulonging it's basically a tribe down in numbers before the merge.
So we agree that Jay has an idol?
Chris from Ghost Island was a good character 😆
Natalie White hunting a shark
Last time I was this early, the number of advantages in a season was normal
the reason youre my fav survivor channel is that youve given your audience the reason for your channel name.
When Sydney tells everyone Naseer is targeting Danny
I like this perspective
Don't wanna be a Debbie downer but if you look at some articles, they clipped that game changers episode around so the time of events makes it looks like Debbie is blaming Brad out of context. She does say all these things but not as crazy and without warning because she pissed about the challenge afterwards. Debbie did go Debbie but not full on lunatic as the editors suggested.
going in my bet is that russel swan's idol hunt is in here
I just finished watching Blood vs Water and to be honest, unless something happened in Game Changers, I legitimately don’t know why the players had a problem with Brad.
Love the perdy man
5:39 That is Naseer!
Flashing idol time
The intro 👍
