I've been doing this off and on since 1992. I have friends who left assisting because it's a soul sucker. I was wanting to leave for GOOD too and work with animals. I found a great thing to do to learn. Then I get a msg from an office and I have an interview this morning. I figured what the hell. Maybe it's not a good time to change careers. (Did I say I've been doing this OFF AND ON for all these years. I've been a cashier, shuttle driver, worked at a hotel, delivered pizza briefly, etc etc) so I also am in the middle of doing something huge in my life where maybe its best not to change. I just hate corporate and the dental world has been taken over by micromanaging corporate people who dont know dentistry or schedules and don't care what's best for the patient. Not all. But some. I've seen it while temping. And i hate it. NOT Only that but I'm not bilingual. Nor young. I have alot against me.

    Hi Andrea,
That's a great answer to answer for an opening interview(wish I had run across it awhile back). Do you think a coworker who has worked for awhile has the obligation to guide a newer assistant? Continued success,
    Fer

Hi, thank you so much for sharing. I had a question. I've had different people tell me different answers. What is the proper dress for the interview for a dental assistant? Some say professional dress. Some say to wear scrubs, because they might do a work interview. Can you please give me insight to what they might expect. Thank you so much for your time.

Not to hijack but if they say working interview wear scrubs. But if they just say interview wear your nice business casual because that is not only professional but it shows them you are serious and took the time to dress for success! Good luck friend! My background: RDA for 19 years
