Fucking Bollywood killed indipop. I remember that in 1995 I lived in IIT Madras campus and my dad was a prof there. We had cable tv provided by IITm and we got MTV INdia , MTV Asia (broadcast from Hong Kong or Singapore) and M TV global ( which is the standard international version) and this song played on all three Mtvs!!! We got 1. three versions of mtv, along with 2. channel v, 3. vh1(us based - also called video hits one) , 4. mcm(I believe it was French), 5. and a few other local indian music stations like ss music, sun music etc. “Mtv India”. was my favorite because it played fabulous music - mostly indipop but also international music !! It was a beautiful channel and most kids these days will never know !! Such a beautiful time !!! Mtv India had great VJs - malaika arora (yes the actress now married to one of the khans), shehnaz treasury walla, rahul khanna (brother of Akshaye khanna the talented actor - he was in mtv Asia though not the mtv India ), Cyrus broacha etc. This is even before Nikhil Chinappa came into the picture !! Those were great days. Alisha chinai was making songs , Biddu and Bally Sagoo were killing it with beautiful tasteful remixes. The music industry was thriving. It all died down in 2000 thanks to rampant internet piracy, the mp3 format and finally Bollywood !!!!
