When Joe feels his guest is funnier than him without being a highest ranking comedian he gets error 404
To be fair... Josh is taller, more talented, and with a better head of hair. I don't blame Joe for cock-blocking the lulz.
I loved how Joe wasn't showing the slightest reaction to Josh's jokes but Josh was still cracking up. Haha I never knew he was so funny.
Joe " you're not funnier than me" Rogan
Josh was banging out one liners
Steven71179 I love Joe as a person and podcaster and commentator, but I just can’t get behind his comedy even though I like all the other comics in his circle.
Josh is way funnier than Joe and Joe wasn't acknowledging the brilliance.
Jokes for the deaf, Joe can't even hear them.
You need to do something nice for yourself Paul. Grill up a nice steak, bottle of wine if that’s your thing, whatever. You earned it bud.
Here is something you should drop to your knees for and worship...but your too stupid to understand youselves.... a joke for the deaf...that is for you.
Josh: "They do it on porpoise"
Joe: No reaction
That was lame man. Joe has become a bit of a snob. Josh has more talent in his left nut than Joe has overall.
Lol. I was looking for this... WTF, that was super sharp punnage. No reaction....
Never seen such a clear example of the difference between a comedian, and someone who's funny.
RIP porpoise joke. You'll never be forgotten.
SchisM * Hey Joe is not a perfect person. He has said he is or can be uncomfortable with new people too!
I’m glad Jamie was there to understand all of Josh’s jokes.
Yeah exactly. Who would've thought Joe the "comedian" would miss all the punchlines?
Some of the Gary stuff was reasonably funny. Funny enough for a small chuckle at least I would have thought.
yeah Josh kept doing Joe's patented "Look to Jaime for confirmation of the quality of my jokes" move. Jaime gets paid to chuckle quietly. all the googling is incidental to the chuckles.
19:45 - Lol at the "wheely hard" joke, which Joe didn't get at all
D C I think he did but I reckon he didn’t want to
As if not to show that this guy may be funnier than him 🤔
Josh "I'm going to the most popular podcast with my oldest shirt" Homme
I wonder if he got there and was like "Cameras? Fuck I thought this was just a podcast!"
@@jeffs.1999 Just came to comment exactly that, I have tons of shirts with that pattern of holes, always from the guitar strap.
The sheer number of puns Josh let off in this was incredible.
TheRagdollrejects and joe didn’t get any of them, the ‘comedian’ with no sensitivity for humour
I know! I think Joe maybe thought Josh was tryin to be the funny guy in front of him, so he blew off every pun, which I thought were hilarious. Josh has dad jokes for days!
@@Cornwall1888 maybe he thinks, as a professional comedian, that puns are lazy?
Boofer T. Washington as opposed to all the other hacky things he and his peers find humouress? It’s not that he doesn’t think they’re funny they fly over his head, he doesn’t know a joke took place
the reason I stopped the video, dude is relentless his hit ratio with jokes is 0:10000
Joe: “Imagine building the Aztec temple without the wheel.”
Josh: “Must have been wheely hard.”
Joe takes himself too seriously to be funny and can’t stand it when a guest is funnier than him.
And every guest is funnier than joe.
Chris Norton maybe, or he could have had his thoughts elsewhere. Who knows.
After finishing 12 years of college, where I majored in psychological profiling, I can determine that 2 out of the 4 posts above this one were authored by a potential serial killer....unfortunately, if I name the psycho's I will be breaking TOS and my acct will be ghosted. You'll just have to figure it out yourselves. G00d luck!
I freakin' love Josh Homme, he's a bit nerdy and passionate.
He inspires me a lot.
"Thats what the rug is for... sweeping stuff under" Josh Homme is the homie
I'm glad Josh enjoyed his own porpoise joke.
I respect people who laugh at their own jokes. And in this case, someone had to.
I watched that bit like ten times trying to see if Joe got it & let it go, didn't think it was the best dad joke, or just missed it completely... I hope the last one, because that's a beautiful dad joke that needs appreciation. JH is god... Or Elvis reincarnated, can't decide.
"Flips the beavis switch" is the most accurate term I've ever heard
I was driving the other night and Wayward Son came on and I had a similar moment
Mate honestly though. I drive a car like a grandad, constantly afraid of the damage I could do to others. I get on a bike and I can't help myself. Just braaaaap n disapear ;)
Joe is surprised Josh has 1 car. The one he's had since he's 14. This whole interview, hasn't Joe seen the one t-shirt Josh owned since 1995?
Josh did a music clinic in my college a few hours before their sold out Dublin show, I tried my luck, “HEY JOSH ANY TICKETS FOR TONIGHT!!???”
His response:
“Here bud, enjoy”
He handed me two tickets hahahah.
Such a gentleman
"Imagine building the pyramids without the wheel"
"That must have been wheeley hard"
🤣🤣🤣
Joe Rogan - "dolphins commit infanticide"
Josh Homme -"they do it on Porpoise"
This was elite level dad joke, and went over apparently everyone's head, which maybe makes it even better?
That is just a play on words from Animal Planet, the Story of him getting stung is real and much more funny than Porpoises. The guy likes jokes and plays some bad ass music.
@@gustavopeters227 can You explain this joke, I don't get it. I'm Russian btw, don't judge me for my English. Thx in advance
I love how Josh things about the dad jokes for a minute after he says them, giggling to himself while Joe is talking about something else
Porpoise 1 had him rolling for a while which I understand cuz it's a pun I've used for yrs & it still cracks me up, only I go much deeper with it by saying porpii' ... dual porpoise.
Joe needs to lock himself to his couch and watch this interview from start to finish. And then take a long hard look at himself and address his inability to roll with Josh's hiiiiiilariously unassuming deadpan humour. Weak showing this time around mate. Homme for the win!!!
Why do you people look at conversation as a compwtition? Fucking lame. Yall always try to be witty and funny and there is nothing worse than not funny people trying to be funny... Joe is more resrved. More interested in trying for depth. Whereas josh is all aboit superficiality skipping the surface, not getting too personally involved. I think sweet and sour juxtaposed is fucking golden. Joe takes a minute to get in to it but by the twenty minute mark they are rolling in it
I think Joe is just annoyed by Homme. I'm a HUGE fan of both, but I feel their chemistry is off and Rogan at more than one point looks annoyed or irritated by him. I was really bummed out by this episode because I figured the two of them together would be enlightening. Instead it's like listening to two men's manifestos combined in one.
Comparatively, Joe sucks as a person compared to Josh's enlightenment level and comedic ability.
People look at a conversation as a competition because ultimately a conversation such as this is open ended so that topics can arise naturally and when they arise they are talked down and built up and then passed on or the conversation grows off of it. Conversation can be an art form and when two or more people get together and converse they put on their dancing shoes and and try to tell it as it is. The other person will either agree or disagree. Nobody knows what the fuck existence really is or what is the most important thing to do in the mean time as time rushes on, so the person who can spin a story or some truth and make others believers, that person is the winner because he wasted your time a little less and hopefully after listening, that person would have made the purpose of life a little more clear
Joe smoked that “impervious to Dad jokes “ strain
Haha I knew somebody would encapsulate the vibe in one quick statement
He's impervious to most jokes. He hasn't got a funny bone in his body lol.
Damn. Josh Homme is the best dad joke comedian ever.
joe: orcas kill baby dolphins
josh: they do it on porpoise ::giggles to himself::
me: ded
I sat by the ocean and told dad jokes to erase you, this can keep going....
you may think I ain't worth a dollar but i feel like telling a dad joke
Bring Josh back! One of my favorite podcasts! I love this dude
Josh is a whole level above Joe.
Does anyone reckon joe might of felt intimidated/threatened by him ? 🤔
Reason for not laughing at even one of his jokes.☹️
Angry Pent bruh Josh’s riffs WERE Kyuss. Him and Garcia’s vocals. Brant is an amazing musician, but who remembers Kyuss for the drumming? Brant definitely might’ve contributed a lot more behind the scenes, so it’s unfair of me to not give him credit. However, Josh and Garcia were the main stage, leaning more towards Josh. Also Brant and Garcia were hardly trying to “reform” Kyuss. They already knew that Josh wouldn’t join them in their mission, and Brant didn’t like Reeder as a person. Kyuss wasn’t coming back. To my speculation, they wanted to capitalize on the buzz Kyuss had created by being such a monumental but short act. Josh knew that Kyuss wasn’t going to be able to be brought back without it being tainted. He probably didn’t want that as part of their legacy. Now since Josh owned the rights to the Kyuss name, and Garcia/Brant continued to use the name to tour, he striked them. If you read up on it, apparently Josh and Reeder (other member of the copyright claim) had already tried to reason with Kyuss Lives! to no avail. I’m sorry man but I’ve never been able to see how Josh is the huge asshole in this story as I’ve seen so many Kyuss fans claim before. I love Kyuss and QOTSA equally, and I wish things didn’t have to turn sour between those members.
@Angry Pent lame ass Queens songs? Why do vultures sound like like queens songs? I personally love their sound but I don't know the drama between them.
Joe’s head is so smooth that josh’s jokes just slide right over it.
I know that a lot of comics think of puns as a lower form of comedy. They usually just don’t find them funny. I think that’s really all there is to it. Imagine being a comedian where you only hang out with the funniest joke crafters in the world. People who use words that sound like other words in a sentence that otherwise wouldn’t be funny just wouldn’t make you laugh like the rest of the stuff you hear. To the average person, a pun might be humorous. But, to a comedy store comic, there’s just no way it gets a laugh.
Zack Shrum I don’t find joe funny at all. Same way he doesn’t find genuinely funny comments or jokes on his podcast funny.
Edited: Josh Homme, in two hours, slayed weeks worth of conversation. In improv. Joe had nothing. Comedy, spirituality, the cosmos, history, creativity, struggle, and triumph. One of the best guests on JRE ever.
Bring Josh Homme back. Joe wasn't himself on this one
I agree. Everyone is roasting him in the comments, but who knows what was going on with him that day. Maybe an old friend past away and he really wasn't in the mood to laugh at puns.
40:45 greatest joke of all time and Joe didn’t even get it
Does anyone reckon joe might of felt intimidated/threatened by him ? 🤔
Reason for not laughing at even one of his jokes.☹️
Lyricists play with words all the time, even when we're not trying. It can b really annoying when u want to shut it off but also grateful for it when u want to create.
When discussing dolphin infanticide,
Josh- " They do it on porpoise"
Joe whilst stone faced - "Yeah..."
All i can think of is merman on "The Boys" profusely crying at the comment.
That was funny! Joe laughs at way hackier jokes when said by comedian friends but he often doesn’t laugh when non comedians try to be funny
The impressive thing was how quick his joke was. That deserved a smile at least.
What I always notice about Joe is that he's great at having a conversation that's about facts, things he read and has a direct answer for. But when it comes to a spiritual or less tangible conversation he seems like he just grasping at straws for input.
For a man whose taken the psychedelics he has it always amazes me he never seems like a natural in the conversation unless it's about specifically explaining the drug.
The areas that Josh went to here with his thoughts are right on my level.
That's because he's a Sensor, not an Intuitive. Probably an ESTX. (those are MBTI notions)
I agree and it's quite interesting because at the same time I think Josh gets a little too out there with his cryptic way of speech. Like hey asshole, get to the point so we can appreciate what sentiment you're trying to deliver. Can't help but love both of em though.
I wish I knew more of the you's and more of the I's in my life, my friend.
Man, Josh's jokes are NOT getting the reactions they deserve
Joe never laughs unless its Uncle Joey. I understand he's a comic and it takes a killer joke to laugh but cmon Joe just a giggle will do man.
One of the best Joe Rogan podcasts ever. Josh Homme is a legend. Possibly the most intelligent musician in Rock. And extremely witty and insightful. A pleasure to listen to
I can totally see how Josh and Bourdain were friends.
this guy was one of the best just sit and chat guests ever.
Chat? Josh is a monologue type of guy... Whenever joe had a good idea and was trying to develop it, josh would just cut it with "whatever-might-fit-this-topic" ... actually, he wasnt trying to chat at all... and boy, he stutters, A LOT.
This guy also makes some of the best music ever written. Start at the beginning
CarlosBrabo lmao what? There’s hardly any “monologuing” in this... they are chatting for the entire interview
"Gary"
- Josh Homme, 2019
Gary Tuttle I can only imagine. It has been a very enjoyable watch/listen for me though.
It sounds like Josh is having a tough time with the dissolution of his marriage but won’t say it directly out loud. I really hope he’s ok.
I love this man, he doesn't even want to push his own promo. Ginger Elvis is the coolest guy around!
30:35 The face you make when someone callously name-drops a dear friend of yours that tragically took his own life, and who you miss terribly.
R.I.P. Anthony Bourdain.
Joe 'if you're not a comedian, I'm not laughing' Rogan
Yeah, what the fuck, Joe. Not sure why I'm the only one finding this guy's jokes funny.
To be fair his jokes aren’t exactly laugh out loud jokes. More tongue in cheek.
hommes face when joe didnt get the, " they do it on porpoise," bit was priceless.
lmao "How can you stand over a mushroom in the ground and say, 'You're illegal!'" thanks Josh
josh homme is not only funnier than 90% of stand up comedians, he comes across as so deep and artistic. what a babe!!!
Joe might rank as one of Josh's toughest crowds
Josh is a very artistic dude and Joe just isn’t. Joe is insanely smart but he had a hard time rolling with such an artistic guy. Josh has a huge personality.
Does anyone reckon joe might of felt intimidated/threatened by him ? 🤔
Reason for not laughing at even one of his jokes.☹️
"I wasn't alive.. and I'm ready to admit that" 😂😂😂
Joe ignored more jokes in this show than he does with Theo Von. Wow.
I listened to this on iTunes, I kept wanting to tell this guy “you’re not a comedian”.. He was trying to hard to impress Joe. And it got annoying.
@@gabrielmajack9837 the only person trying too hard is you in that pathetic profile picture.
“You’ll have plenty of time to die all alone” Josh Homme is a truly inspirational musician his guitar riffage is uncanny thank you for all the great music from when I was teen all the way to now a 37 year old. Don’t let the man get you down brother, see you on the other side.
That t-shirt with holes all in it makes me trust this guy.
@Donovan Dunnigan I had a shirt with holes in it like that. I loved it, was like my second skin. It finally fell to tatters.
In this episode, Joe meets the guy he aspires to be and treats him with indifference.
Joe: “Dolphins commit infanticide”
Josh: “They do it on porpoise”
Joe: ...
Josh: "You get tons of fake sleep".
Hahaha! I'm dead
My friend and had the pleasure of meeting Josh after a show at the norva in Richmond around the time of era vulgaris. He is so humble and gentle. Such a stand up guy. Talked with us for a half hour. Never seemed like he was in a hurry.
Jamie " They go just for the liver"
Homme " yeh but they do have some fava beans with that"
Just me that laughed at this? 🤣🤣🤣
@Brian Jones Or he just ignores them. There were so many comments Joe dismissed that he could've delved into. I think Josh is too cerebral for Joe who's pragmatic.
Anyone get "they did it on porpoise"? And he looked to jamie when joe failed him haha
@@dogwklr I seriously looked around the empty room to check if anyone else caught that hahahah. I thought it was fucking hilarious hahah
This Gary fella has a lot to answer for.
joe cooper Gary is his ex wife’s lawyer back in ‘05 and Josh promised him he is gonna regret it one day
See, here's the thing about why Joe is awkward in this interview: 1) many comedians don't like when a non comedian is funnier than they are, and 2) they especially seem to dislike one liners, believing for some reason that they are hacky. I don't think Joe missed the jokes, I think he just didn't acknowledge them.
The problem is, Joe seemed to forget that Josh is not a professional comedian, and he probably shouldn't have held those prejudices at all, in this case.
This may have also been a case of one alpha encountering another he couldn't quite contend with, which is weird because Josh didn't give off any "we're competing right now" vibes.
Quite a fail on Joe's part.
@@paladin_83 He is though. Sure it's a really childish sort of funny, but that what makes it funny.
Agreed peachmelba1000 - Joe only laughs at comedians who are high ranking like Bill Burr or Joey Diaz... almost as if he categorizes in his head what is funny...
This dude should come on again, he's hilarious
This guy is out of left field fascinating and hilarious at the same time. He's the most engaged guest in a while. Dad jokes get bonus points for now being unique and retro.
"It must have been wheely hard" come on Joe get with Josh's dad jokes. Damn man.
@@MrDallii I'm not either, but when you're a podcast host and am interviewer, the least you can do is chuckle or acknowledge it. Sometimes it feels like he's the only one who's allowed to be funny unless it's Tom Segura or Joey Diaz.
Why are people bitching about Joe not laughing at Josh's jokes? Joe laughed at a ton of Josh's jokes throughout the episode. Josh laughed at a ton of Joe's. Seemed like a good episode to me.
Should have asked Josh what he thinks of Celine Dion lmao
Josh is smarter, more thoughtful and funnier than society expects of its rock stars. We don’t deserve him.
yeah it surprised me when I read he was in music... I didn't know who he was ....
Joe: “Civil War” “Aztec Warriors” “Dalai Lama” “Family Reunions”
Josh: “Gary”

I didn't know Josh Homme was such a likeable and funny dude.
@@RickBobO I always think of the camera incident now too and it feels hypocritical to just give him a pass on that. You don't just come back from kicking a girl in the face... but yeah anyone who knows about it just has to decide for themselves. For me the music is completely ruined.
The same year he started playing guitar his parents took him to see George Carlin live, so he's been into comedy for as long as he's been into music.
@@nucleardivide290 You don't think that was handled? Have you heard a peep from that girl?

He reminds me of my buddy from high school. He would say shit like "do you have a Juany Tar?" when asking for a one-hitter. Total goofball shit. I love it.
Honestly I thought Joe and Josh hit off fantastically, I have hardly recognized anywhere that Joe dissed Josh by not reacting to a joke. If anything, I thought Josh talked over Joe a bit, and that Joe handled it very well. Both are legends.
That's great, I love that Josh mentioned "Mister, Would You Please Help My Pony" :) Always been my favorite Ween song. It's so random & WTF & even tugs on the heart strings, in a way that confuses you as to whether you should cry or laugh, or both, with a bewildered look on your face all the while.
Joe “your puns mean nothing to me” Rogan
The joe rogan middle name joke needs to stop its dead and it was never funny
Well, "It needs to stop" isn't a benchmark for cleverness either. It's not the joke, it is you who needs to stop assuming that because you personally don't fancy something it's the same way for everyone else.
Homme is quick with the jokes..joe, dressed like a panda, is having none of it
Im now going to listen to all their albums front to back
“They made the pyramids without the wheel. Yeah, that would be wheelie hard”
Made me snort.
Rogan: Isn't she channeling a 1000 year old guy?
Homme: Yeah Gary.
Rogan:
There's so many puns in the QOTSA songs, makes sense that he uses them in real life too.
half their songs are just hilarious one-liners about being a degenerate scumbag. A blast!

This is a train wreck, Josh is having a great time and Joe seems like he's with his annoying little brother.
To be fair, I could only make it through three quarters before I had my fill of Josh.
Easily one of the best guests ever. I wish we had a previous visit to go back and watch too.
His jokes are still better than Schaubs stand up.
My pastor is better at telling jokes than Schaub. And he has fresh material every week.
First Tim Dillon episode I did not watch. Made it like four minutes. Joe really needs to quit with the oh anyone can be a comic and do podcasts. No Joe. No they can't. Some people are good at some things. And not good at others. That is reality.
"They do it on porpoise." Should have gotten more that was great
Only the few select comics that joe decides are good are allowed to be funny around him
@WIZARD RAPIER they were talking about killer whales and he made the play on words using "porpoise" instead of purpose. They are a cross between a whale and a dolphin, an aquatic mammal.
I did not expect Josh to sound like that after a decade of never hearing him speak...
Lol, dont squeeze the shaman. Brilliant Mr. Homme
Joe “I don’t allow my guest to be funnier than me” Rogan
Triple like??? I've been listening to all of the JRE podcasts since the mid 800's, and Josh had me laughing as hard as Joey Diaz if not harder.
How come Joe misses all of Josh's zingers...
"♫ No one knows! ♫"
Josh is a real Rocker.
When someone is naturally funny vs being funny by writing it down and practicing over and over again.
So true. Learning how to be ‘funny’ is so not funny. Can’t believe Joe fills big venues, I guess his podcast fame helps?
the declaration of co-dependence was his best joke, hes pretty witty for a singer
Those holes on his shirt must be from years of guitar strap
Dude. Joe didn’t even laugh when they were talking about dolphins and josh says “well they do it on porpoise.” That’s was absolute gold and joe just downed him.
TheHardway1916 you’re not an intellectual. You haven’t heard enough QOTSA or Kyuss or EODM to be on the same level as us intellectuals. Nerd.
it is funny, but not groundbreaking and it has been used allot before. If you watched Animal Planet, you have heard the porpoise/purpose pun before. I find Joe fucking hillarious, but I don't laugh at all of his Jokes. Some of them are just clever and some are so clever that I laugh about how clever they are. He also does some that does get past me and cracks me up.
Poor Josh having to laugh at his jokes by himself. We all enjoyed them, mate!
Yep, Josh was pretty funny, maybe Joe didn't like being outshined.
Never really got the whole Joe the comedian thing.
I like Joe, he gives no fucks and is a good bloke, but not uniquely funny that I get him as a comedian.
at least he had Yung J-me The Easily Amused to giggle softly along with him. Cant laugh too hard or Joe's feeling's get hurt and he gets all jealous of Jaime's attn to their guest!
Joe is casually funny, but not very funny or uniquely funny
