Hello all! I hope that you find the video interesting and do share your thoughts on the cases discussed. Be safe over the coming weeks and months and please remember to be on your absolute A* hygiene game.
Read the story THE DIFFICULTY OF CROSSING A FIELD by your boy Ambrose Bierce. It's supposed to be fiction but is too similar to these stories of folks disappearing while out in the wilderness. Love the channel, bud. You have a good voice for narration also. Cheers!
From the Philippines here, in elementary I had a classmate that disappeared and was found after almost a week, he was found inside a hole in a tree trunk... the tree is inside the school and they searched the grounds for days, , when he was asked where he had been, he said he was taken by fairies... i know it is not a national park disappearance but that is something I remember my entire life
Darwin's Notebook - thanks for sharing. That's bizarre. I've thought about and researched a Lot of disappearances. Ultimately, I think he Fae Are Involved in Most. Information about them, their habits, tactics, and everything else I can find lines up more than anything else. Including aliens. It really is like they exist in a very close but parallel universe to ours and are able to crossover or watch and that they sometimes choose to lure and abduct or completely take kids And adults. It's pretty eeerie. The small details that they like tobacco, liquor and sugar candies says a lot about what type of beings they are. Sociopathic in some sense..
I am an experienced Australian bush walker who enjoy off-track walking in rough country and it is astonishingly easy to misplace your location, even a couple of meters from a landmark or stream. Slip and break a leg and you could easily never be found. I suspect that a number of these cases could be of this kind, however there is repeating reports of missing peoples shoes being found, something you definitely not do. I know many do not accept reports of strange sightings in the bush, but the reason for these cases is : They know you can’t run without your shoes.
I also just wanted to add, that last case was really creepy. A 2 square mile island, and a guy goes missing, even though he was seen by hikers, yet no trace of him, not even his belongings, were ever found. How does that even happen?
Keep in mind Ambrose disappeared in Mexico during the same time as the Mexican Civil war. During that time there were multiple attacks on Americans by Mexican bandits/ paramilitaries so thats my theory as to why he disappeared
Didn’t someone see him, turn round and when they turned back 2 seconds later he had disappeared? They thought he’d fallen down a hole, but no hole. I think he was transported back to an alien’s planet because he was such a clever git.
✨The James case makes me think of someone walking into a vortex. The Canadian cases about Andrew and Kevin are REALLY CREEPY and seem to have those strange 411 elements: the shoes, the weather change, the large searches... And the case in the French alps is mysterious. David vanished without a trace, and there was no scent for search dogs? I’d never heard of this case, nor Roger’s in Greece. Where do these people go? Thanks for covering these unique, interesting cases!
@@christopherhazell420 David Paulides is a massive fraud who frequently leaves out or ignores details of cases so that they fit his criteria. Also many search and rescue experts and volunteers have criticised him.
I always enjoy your presentations. Your voice is captivating. More so, you do not over dramatise the events covered. I feel that all of your case studies are presented in a professional manner and their content, sometimes frightening, but always interesting. Keep up your investigative work.
In the case of missing boy that was supposedly spotted by searchers (or misidentified as a deer) - I would think that if it was a case of him being scared and unknowingly running from the volunteers searching for him thinking they were a threat, that they would yell out his name and who they are they are trying to help him maybe idk maybe they did unsure it just seems kinda odd. If I saw a missing child in the wilderness, and if they started running I would announce this information
Nobody miss identifies a boy as a deer! They are full of shit , I hunt and there is no damn way. The only way someone gets misidentified is if they are standing/sitting directly behind a kill shot or they aren't wearing orange. If I can't make out a deer I'm not taking a shot , that's only the folks that try to commit murder!!!!!! I'm not buying it.
Angels even after being fallen are under under contract to maintain the seasons and control the weather.talk about manufactured reality. The whole thing isn't made up but don't ever think leaves turn brown by accident.ever since angels have fallen they want to eat humans.so I don't go into state parks. My guess is that they hang out there because it's beautifull.just a weird thought.
You know, logic would tell you that it isn't that the weather turns bad in this cases, but rather that in cases where people are missing and the weather turns bad, it becomes much more difficult to find them, especially alive.
@@augustgreig9420 so u think that people going missing changes the weather??? Don't u think it's more likely the weather is the reason people go missing. As you said it's always raining when this happens.
I had an incident that happened years ago where I was working in an extremely busy supermarket & I came across a child who had lost his mother. I took responsibility of the child & brought the child up to the main checkout area of the supermarket where announcements could be made to put a call out for the mother of the child but the child's mother was luckily at the main checkout area as we arrived so the child was safely handed over to the parent. I didn't think much of it really at the time but now as I look back on it that what if that child had of been found by someone else who was not a worker at the store & that said person took the child? It would be something similar to someone going missing in a place where you wouldn't think possible & these things can & do happen depending on if the security cameras actually catch a look at the face of the person who is stealing anything. How many times do you hear about how people on trails bump into others, they ask them for directions because they are temporarily lost or disoriented & other people give them directions but not once will anyone take the responsibility to make sure that the person gets back safely? I find it very strange how so many people are too selfish to care about anything other than themselves & ignore helping someone in need. Many of these people would not disappear if another person stayed with the individual who originally disappeared, many of the people who go out into forests don't have enough responsibility for themselves to take extra food, water, warm clothing, emergency devices or even waiting until a second person goes into the forest with them.
Solar Function Your last paragraph is so true! I thought exactly the same when I heard about the motorcyclists who found that man lost and disoriented; I hope they can’t live with themselves for abandoning him but deep inside I know they couldn’t care less. 😢
You are right in that but if you come across a person who is lost & clearly in distress, not thinking best, perhaps elderly or even someone who thinks that they will be okay but you can surely see that they are not prepared for the conditions of the area then the least you can do is help or would you prefer to say it's not your fault that the person you could of saved but didn't save died or disappeared because you thought it's not your problem?
I don't necessarily hope people suffer with guilt, if they decide not to help someone because hindsight is 20/20 and for multiple reasons, some people just don't feel comfortable getting involved. They could feel like they were putting themselves in harm's way or aren't sure they need help. It can be hard to know what to do. However, I am the type of person who doesn't care if someone thinks I am annoying. LOL If my gut instinct is telling me something is wrong, I take action. If I hadn't taken action, I know at least 3 people I have helped would be dead. If my only choices are between possibly annoying someone and taking a chance of annoying someone and finding out they actually needed help, well, annoying isn't the worst thing I have been called. LOL We were leaving the zoo and stopped to use the bathroom one more time before we went back to the hotel. While I was waiting for my kids, I noticed a woman who was in a major panic and had anguish on her face, so I asked her if she needed help. She said her daughter was lost. I asked her what she was wearing and I told her we would keep our eyes open for her on the way back to the car. By this time, a lot of people were looking for her and workers were driving around in the golf carts, screaming her name. About 20 minutes later, right as we were about to exit, my daughter said, "Mom, is that the little girl??" She was only 2 years old and she was crying, terrified, and standing in the corner like she was in trouble. I told her I knew where her mommy was and I hugged her. She was clinging to me, so I carried her the rest of the way. On the way back down, we passed 3 of the workers in the golf carts and told them to please let them know we found her. They let me continue to take her!!! I have wondered so many times: * What if I hadn't asked that woman if she needed help? * What if my daughter hadn't seen the little girl? * What if someone bad would have found her instead?? She was so scared, she would have gone with anyone. * Why didn't even one of the workers make sure I was going to take her to her mom?? Another time, I was at the mall with my mom. There was a little boy being carried by a guy and he was screaming bloody murder. My mom knew something was wrong. We followed him and called the cops. When he got to his car, my mom told him he wasn't leaving, and when the cops could confirm he was his dad's, she would apologize. Well, it wasn't his dad. The boy had been playing in the arcade and when his mom went to get more change, the guy grabbed him. 30 years later, I still think about it and wonder "what if???"
It's a club that no family ever wants to become a member of, that of the Missing Person's Families Club. Unfortunately it's only when their loved one has been unable to be located at all or is found somewhere they should never have been able to get to that these families find that this is a club with far too many members and often zero answers. Thank you for shining a light on these cases and to their families may I extend my deepest sympathies for your loss.
Thank you. It's painful to never be rid of the guilt every second of not being in the woods, looking and looking forever, even a decade on now. This channel helps me mitigate that guilt. Love you, Carly. Miss you always ❣️✨
This is an exerpt from an article on Bierce... "The German agent tracked Bierce from El Paso to Chihuahua City where the writer’s presence had been confirmed and the last letter was sent from on December 26th. In this letter Bierce claimed that he was leaving on a troop train from Chihuahua to Ojinaga. The time frame coincides exactly with the dispatch of six brigades under Generals Ortega and Natera to Ojinaga. Of course, the generally accepted story that Bierce somehow attached himself to Villa is untrue given this time frame." I personally think he met with foul play in Mexico. I did a project on him for college, so I find the story fascinating. Source: felixsommerfeld.com/news/mexican-revolution-blog/2013/7/16/the-disappearance-of-ambrose-bierce Also, I am from Nova Scotia, but I never heard of that disappearance. That's quite unsettling. However, there have been a few here that I have heard of. One girl, Amber Kirwan, disappeared from the bar after a night out with friends and was unfortunately found murdered in the woods sometime later. This was in New Glasgow.
No paranormal mystery here. Bierce wanted to die in a last adventure. Dying in his bed like the common people he despised was an alternative he didn't want. There are recounts from the Mexican side of the story of an old man being executed by firing squad that match the description of an "old gringo" resembling Bierce.
A big problem with the missing person count is that if 1 person goes missing 3 times in 1 year (a kid running away from home Is reported and then either comes back or is found) that is still listed as 3 missing person cases for that year.
Thing with Ambrose Bierce is he wrote a lot of "person vanishes into thin air" short stories, so I suspect this was one of those very shorts. Though given that very fact, I've always found it eerily ironic that he himself disappeared in the end.
Salty Seawitch from what I understand he was interested in native american culture and I suspect that even though the stories are clearly fictional, they might have had an element of reality to them. Potentially based on real events like a lot of fiction. Theres no proof of that but it’s interesting especially with the weird circumstances of his disappearance
I suspect he decided to investigate all these vanishings. Bierce was a very smart and intelligent man. And I have no doubt he got really curious and curiosity killed the cat. Remember that today, many people who had been investigating children and women disappearances have also vanished, got killed or "'suicided". Not long ago an English journalist was poisoned in Poland. He got information on something very big on that...and on the same day he met a "strange woman" in a public place (she handed him an envelop with some papers inside), he got killed that night. The envelope disappeared inside the same restaurant where he was poisoned and not even his friends with him noticed anything strange or somebody around who could take that envelope away...but here goes: his notebook also vanished from his hotel. Whatever he was looking for brought him death Till now his murderer has not been arrested and will never be. His mother cries for help and her cries fell on deaf ears. I believe some similar fate might have crossed Bierce's path.
It boggles my mind that you don't have one of the biggest channels on UA-cam! You always provide a ton of well researched details and provide them in an interesting way. No small feat, that. I have heard other channels who give a lot of details, but they do so in a way that sounds like they are reading an instructions pamphlet from Ikea. You pick great cases, I especially enjoy the ones that didn't get much attention. Maybe consider doing a series on missing people who are a minority in one way or another. I am new to your channel, still working my way through your back catalog, so I apologise if you have done that and I just have not found it yet. I know it is unlikely that a podcast/video/social media post will help close a case, but it has happened. You just never know who is watching/listening. Thanks for great video!

While stating that Alaska is largely rural is fair. The difference between Alaskan rural and say, Europe, is that for 8 months of the year, Alaska weather will kill you out of hand, prepared or not sometimes. The other 4 months of the year, it might kill you. This is without taking terrain into account. Skippered vessels off and on, from 1976 to 2017, including Black Sunday in 96, and when it is clear and calm, The North will put a knife, right in your back, every damn time.
@snodds88 I don't doubt that you get extreme weather and temps as well( didn't y'all get a hurricane in the last year or 3? I don't miss those.) but Alaska would be more akin to rural Russia/Canada than anywhere in western Europe. I've seen seen severe snow/ice storms followed by -32 Fahrenheit(same in Celsius) in the American Midwest and even then I wouldn't sneeze at Alaska at it's best. Help can be dozens if not hundreds of miles away and might require a plane to get there. Let's not forget the wildlife either... It's a beautiful place with some of the best hunting, fishing and outdoor activities on this side of the planet but there is a reason they pay people to live there permanently.
Finland has some rough winter weather, as does Siberia, obviously. As far as I know, there are also days with little daylight often in the fall and winter. 👌🏻
@Tellestus 0 Nope try the Aurora Borealis fucking with your compass and electronics. I've had my wheelhouse nav aids go bonkers, more often then I like. Then you have too navigate by wind and wave, position of the Sun, and what yer ass tells you. The deck apes know when it has gone sideways, when I walk out of the wheelhouse and put my hand up to measure the distance of the sun above the horizon.
@@eloquenthillbilly We get on average 6 hurricanes a year. Which doesn't include Willowas (100+ Knots) around the Aleutian Isl. You have the Arctic currents and weather, coming up against the Japanese current and weather. Every time you toss the lines from the dock, your chance of living to tie back is 1 in 7, according to the insurance companies. Dutch Harbor Yatch Club, is the most exclusive in the world for a reason.
@Mark Cooke Been there and have fished with guys from there. Much more predictable weather and not near as harsh. No seaman from anywhere but anywhere, thinks the Bering Sea isn't the worst place to make a living. Winds at 80+, waves at 40 ft., -40C temp, break ice for 4 hrs., work 8 hours, repeat for 40 hrs, sleep 4 hours, do it again, for two months. In between all of that you have bad weather, 150+ winds, -65C, seas tall as buildings. You survive a season there, you're a tuff bastard and know one can tell you shit. Do it for a living, and you are clinically insane.
The case of Ambrose is interesting, I was just reading about him and struck by similarities to other cases. Apparently he was going to explore a cave when he disappeared. Too bad there isn’t more detailed info about it.
Congrats on reaching 100k subscribers. It's exciting to watch the channel grow, even more so so for you, I would imagine. The steady growth on this channel is definitely a testament to the phenomenal job that you do in creating these videos. Who doesn't love great content that involves the mysterious? And with the major issues weighing heavily on everyone's minds right now, it's so nice to take a short vacation from worry and sit down to see what you've crafted for us today. This was a really interesting video. The facts about the disappearances, plus the very good visuals, along with the editing, it all makes it a really enjoyable video to watch.
I think missing 411 is doing good work. How far is David paulides going to take it?????? Well is the Government going to stop him??? I am sick of never really finding out anything close to the truth.
Great comment! Spot on! Funny how we (humans, in general) want to "explore strange new worlds, seek out new life and new civilizations. To boldly go where no man has gone before!" (Star Trek) Yet there's so many unsolved mysteries right here on Earth, right now, right in front of us. Starting with -- WHERE IN THE WORLD ARE ALL THESE MISSING PEOPLE?!?! One might think a government agency somewhere in the world could be tasked with looking into the matter...
We live in a supernatural universe - literally anything can and does happen. I have witnessed "little people", alien craft, a spaceship landed in my bedroom and angels walked through my bedroom wall and then proceeded to touch me after which I passed out......etc....
Me too! My child went missing into thin air almost 2 years ago..it is mentally and emotionaly devastating, having no clues, no sightings,no progress reports..
I just read this piece. It was very well narrated and easy to understand. People seemed so willingly to help with the searches. It’ too bad they couldn’t have turned out better.

Andrew sounds like a 411 case shoes off found in water only two miles from the house he was staying at I’m sure the searchers checked there and the dogs couldn’t pick up his scent
Another brilliant production guys, well researched, written, illustrated & narrated. I found the last case totally strange, that being on a tiny island. Many thanks. RgY.

I love your stories. Thanks. I always thought the Ambrose Bierce story was amazingly baffling. I learned about him when I took college classes ten years ago. It is very sad about the little boy and the teenager, too. The older man's disappearence is very odd. I won't put up likes because you tube keeps tracking them. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for the full picture of the incidences. The history and circumstances allow the listener to engage. Wonderful job. Well done as always! Edit: spelling
At 14:24 -- that's something I have talked about at length with Milo. Not sure how SART operates when calling for lost children or adults, so never mentioned it in the comments here or anywhere else -- but considering how isolation and dehydration takes effect on the brain, it's not too far fetched to think that some people would run away from rescuers because their ability to reason is compromised
US National Crime Information Center (NCIC) has annual reports on missing persons. Their reports indicate that the number of missing decreased after the 2008 economic crisis, from over 800K/per yr before the crisis to over 600k afterwards. The states with the greatest number of missing persons AK, AZ, OR, VT WA and ME. AK, OR, WA and ME (and maybe AZ?) have large wilderness areas (and VT has the Bennington Triangle - supposedly). It seems the US has a greater number of missing persons than other countries.
The wandering stickmen and -women totally mesmerized me at the end, they are fun :) And congrats on hitting 100k, you really deserve it, Topsy! I remember when there were way less than 30k of us.. like just few months ago. Now excuse me, I think I have to watch some more of those stickies going about their business :)
The style of the visuals on this video is really well done. Are these your own drawings? As always, I enjoyed the video. Whenever you say, "Let's get bizarre...," I know it's getting extremely interesting! Thank you! Hope you had a good weekend! 😊💕💕💕
Really liked this one...so many people just seem to disappear of the face of the Earth...especially in woods n forests with no trace ever being found. This is indeed a real "top mystery" that many have tried...and failed to find answers to....great work dude...peace.
This was an interesting video. I appreciate that you researched cases that were old. It makes these disappearances that much more mysterious. Although I do find these cases fascinating I'm a bit full up on disappearances videos as UA-cam is being flooded with them. Yours are original and better researched than most however I do miss you exploring other paranormal topics. I love the topic of cryptids and alleged UFO abductions and crave more of this type of video from you. Just a thought.. 🙂
I carry every time I trek out alone and have never been bothered by anything that wasn't human...love your vids keep em up... people don't disappear they move or get moved
People acting like a councidence that these mysterious disappearances usually have bad weather during or prior to searches. The weather often masks scents, covers most tracks and cleans away a ton of evidence for searchers.
You know what's more than bizarre with people disappearing as the weather turns. It's the people that vanish into thin air on a sunny day, in broad daylight.
Maybe so but Alaska has alot of open space. It's alot if weird stuff that goes on up ur way. Never want to visit to many strange things going on,with no explanation.
This was a great video! I guess that I can understand how someone being lost in the woods could become paranoid and try to escape what they perceived as a new threat. That would be so devestating! My question to the community and this channel is this: When searchers respond to these situations, is there any procedure involved where they would be directed to identify themselves as a rescue team or personnel (instead of just calling out the name)? "Kevin, this is the rescue party. Where are you?"
I think the inhabitants of that Greek island know something about his disappearance especially since the body was never found. You can only be hidden on an island since you can't get off without someone seeing you.
About 20yrs ago when I took Hunter's Safety (required class to be able to get hunting licenses). A video the instructor showed had people who had accidents while hunting. One was a person carrying a deer they had shot by tying the front legs together around his neck and letting the dead deer drape over his back. Another hunter saw him and shot him thinking he was a deer. This is why deer hunters wear Baze Orange...there is actually a certain amount of orange by sq inch that is required. The clothing companies know this and design the clothing to have the required amount. Another part of the video was a turkey hunter mistook a boy crawling in the grass for a bird.

Omg.... I lived there for over 10 years and I have never heard from this story about the one from Warwickshire. I used to run that Coventry-Leamington route. Scary. I know that there were UFO/strange lights sightings late at night in that area.
The stats about millions going missing include those who are found alive and well after some hours, and those who go missing multiple times. The mystery cases are a very small but real proportion of the whole.
I so much enjoy your channel it is so interesting and intriguing the world is full of such bizarre things beyond what we can even imagine Thank you for the readings and information Listening here in the USA

@@christopherhazell420 David Paulides is a massive fraud who frequently leaves out or ignores details of cases so that they fit his criteria. Also many search and rescue experts and volunteers have criticised him.
@@narohato1749 he's doing more than you're doing though 🙄
They do usually call out the name of the person missing. My husband use to do search and rescue in Washington State.
Seems like the weather always turns bad in these incidents....??
And if there is such things as angels they definatly don't wanna eat your aspartamed ass
Darren Wilson - dude, re-read what August wrote and you'll realise you've misinterpreted her....
LOL
We were leaving the zoo and stopped to use the bathroom one more time before we went back to the hotel. I have wondered so many times:
* What if I hadn't asked that woman if she needed help?
@Shade Crenshaw I know, right?

Of course, the generally accepted story that Bierce somehow attached himself to Villa is untrue given this time frame."
I personally think he met with foul play in Mexico. I did a project on him for college, so I find the story fascinating.
Source: felixsommerfeld.com/news/mexican-revolution-blog/2013/7/16/the-disappearance-of-ambrose-bierce
Also, I am from Nova Scotia, but I never heard of that disappearance.
100 thousand subscribers, congrats brother, you deserve a million
Whatever he was looking for brought him death
Till now his murderer has not been arrested and will never be.

Yes it is, and we will never know how mysterious it really is.🙂❤

Dont go in the woods or remote areas. Doesnt matter if your alone, with a group, or have weapons. Anybody can get got.
