I didn't realize Purdy's arm wasn't strong until I saw Dobbs rocketing it across the field and Dobbs is noticeably faster running than Purdy. Difference is Dobbs makes worse decisions than Purdy- he doesn't have a feel for the pocket and gets sacked, he forces the ball into covered receivers and gets picked.

Raiders, Browns, Giants, Tenn, Indy, Jets, all NEED a QB... literally nobody in the building that's suitable. Purdy would take $35-38M because if he doesn't get a contract and has to play another year at $1.1M, then he's losing literally $10M/yr on a 3-yr contract...
Phil comparing Brock to baker, baker signed that deal 2 years ago when he had one decent season with his team. When he resigns soon, it will be for $45+.
I think they should give him 2/75 or 3/115 & then he gets back to the negotiating table after making a quick buck. Put a couple voidable years on the end to make it look better and to give them flexibility with the cap. Then he can hit the market again at/below 30 & collect bigger checks
Simms is an idiot. The only real time Brock doesn't hit a play (i.e. Superbowl) is when the OL collapses immediately and he can't scramble. But that's going to screw any QB. Even Mahomes.
Chris Jones coming up the middle unblocked on a potential game winning touchdown did not even get the sack as Purdy tossed the ball away. Ninety percent of the QBs in the league would have been sacked.
I got thinking about my “elite” group. One guy I didn’t mention but maybe should have: Jayden Daniels. It’s just a bit too early maybe. But Jayden has elite skills, that’s for sure. Terrific passer - quick release, tight throwing motion, strong arm, very accurate - a ridiculous runner - I’ve seen deer with slower acceleration ;-) - AND he seems like a smart guy too. PLUS he’s a great “character” guy too. My gut tells me Jayden is the new NFL QB prototype. Man, I will tell you: the Commanders absolutely lucked out having Jayden drop in their laps. (Simms is way off here on Purdy. What about the Vikings? Purdy is definitely better than Darnold. If Purdy is a Vikings he’s hitting most of those passes to Justin Jefferson against the Lions.)
@@nathangothan601not really. Even if the state takes half he’s still making $500,000 a year. If you’re smart you could make that last a lifetime. 5 years $200 mil fully guaranteed. Pay the kid for what he has done for the franchise by giving him the guarantee, but at $40mil a year with a rising cap, it doesn’t hurt the team as a whole.
How did the niners take their time to get a better deal and the Cowboys take their time to pay way above market value. I hope they pay him 50 million a year.
Chris thinks Sam Darnold could do the things Brock does and then some... so essentially, he thinks Kyle knows f' all about qb play. Sam got most of the reps in the offseason when SF had him and Brock was coming off a major surgery on his throwing arm. Kyle could have easily said Brock is still working through something and gone with Sam but he didn't... because there was a clear difference.
It's because Sam has a stronger arm and they over value that. If Darnold had been in SF this year he would have struggled big time. They would still be 6-11 or worse.
What reason do we have to think Kyle knows anything about QBs? He passed on drafting Mahomes, passed on signing Brady, traded for Jimmy G, gave Jimmy G a huge contract, traded for Trey Lance to replace Jimmy G but stuck with Jimmy G anyway, then replaced Lance with Purdy who he passed on drafting with their 3 sixth round picks that year. Oh and they let Darnold go who just had a borderline MVP season. Let’s not act like Kyle has this great track record at QB, his record at QB is abysmal so it’s fair to assume his future decisions at QB will be wrong too.
This logic is easily defeated. Kyle had Trey, Jimmy, and Brock in 2022. Jimmy was off to the side rehabbing with no contract. Kyle easily could have put Brock ahead of Jimmy saying he was still working through something *and* had not camp, but he didn't... because there was a clear difference???
@@kiku-h7r Jimmy was a veteran and Brock was a rookie. He had seen that Jimmy could run the offense at baseline in actual games. Should he have given him a chance earlier in that season? Absolutely, but you can kind of understand why he was hesitant.
Some of the takes in this segment beggar belief. Brock is workmanlike and has no big plays where he scrambles and .akes something???? like wtf, there's a highlight reel of him doing exactly that. For sure there's stuff you can criticize him on, but please keep it real and factual.
Let’s stop it. The receiving core Kirk had pre Justin Jefferson was better than the 49ers receivers and that one consisted diggs and prime theilan. What Purdy has done with these weapons is amazing. He even helped kick aiyuk’s game up a notch. The dude just wins. Except for the season when all of his weapons minus kittle are hurt, the defense can’t stay healthy, and the kicker can’t hit a field goal. Kirk also did nothing in the playoffs. The dude can play, he obviously battled injuries this year also. Give that man his money.
that's not going to happen. Brock's got 2 divisional title and 1 NFC Championship. He will get paid. The media said the same for Sam Darnold and look what Sam is doing now. He will get paid.
Not this year. This year top ten is Lamar, Josh, Joe, Justin, Jayden, Jordan, Jared, Pat, Jalen, Sam. Maybe Baker. Then in the 12-15 group is Tua, Brock, Matt, Kyler. 2023: Dak, Brock, Kirk, and Matt were in the top 10 replacing Jayden, Sam, Baker, and Joe (who was not good in 2023). With Jared & Jalen battling Tua & CJ. 2022: Pat, Josh, Tua, Jalen, Jared, Joe, Justin with Lamar, Geno, Dak, Daniel Jones. W/ the mid 11-17 being Tom, Derek, Trevor, Kyler, Matt, Kirk, Jimmy G. Think I would put Brock at 11 here ahead of Brady even though he only played 5 games.
That’s not even the issue the problem is with his disadvantage athletically he needs to be incredibly consistent with his accuracy and reading defenses. Any mistakes in those areas are magnified because he doesn’t have enough speed to routinely escape the rush and he doesn’t have the arm strength to fit the ball into tight windows.
They are talking out of their arses. Purdy literally carried the Niners vs the packers and lions last year. It was his off schedule plays that won them the game. Kyle's play calling is horrible when trailing in games.
As somebody who’s watched every Brock Purdy snap, a year ago listening to this, I would have said they were crazy and unfair. After this year, I think they have a point. Purdy threw some really bad INTs and didn’t elevate the team when he didn’t have Aiyuk, CMC and Williams there. I think slightly above Baker Mayfield’s contract is fair
@ every qb throws picks… it’s football!!!! But be so fr. Question before Purdy when did Aiyuk have a 1k season I’ll wait. When has Jennings had over 500 yards before Purdy? Did you even watch the lions or bucs game this year I’m pretty sure he utilized Ricky Pearsall!?
Purdy did the best he could with receivers that can't separate. PFF has the 49ers dead last in receiver separation. Purdy is the 49ers best option and he's going to get starting QB money around $50M.

They always give Kyle too much credit. Kyle has been in SF 8 years, he's never had a better QB. So if they let Purdy go, are we going to wait another 8 years for better QB play?
As a niner fan I agree. With all the guys Purdy is awesome but if you lose most of those guys because he makes too much money it will destroy our team. I honestly would shoot for low 40’s with a max around mid 40’s.
There is no way in this world that Purdy will take $40 million a year. I believe he will get at least $50 million a year and the Niners will give it to him.
Why would they lose those guys? Geebus do you understand how the NFL works? Philly just paid their QB top money. Yet they still signed BOTH teier wr's and brought in Barkley.

A franchise QB is not Aiyuk or Deebo. They've seen how Jerry Jones' fiddling with Dak turned out. Their decision is made, but Brock is going to have to accept a number that doesn't destroy the team. He needs to let the team invest in an Oline and field a decent defense. The Me-first QBs who aren't quite capable of carrying the whole show are team-killers. The collapse at Dallas is largely the doing of Dak Prescott.

Purdy would look even better, if SF would actually invest in the offensive line, outside of one Hof, but older and aging player.
@@zackhurwitz9441 dude, sorry, but you are a little bit delusional about 49ers. Unless they bring a legit QB who brings hope to their aging team on big contracts that they can win a SB - they need to go for a rebuild, cause nobody busting their asses for Brock Purdy. This draft class is sucks, but next one looks like will be better.
Baker Mayfield was absolutely stupid to accept the deal he did.
don't forget Baker had bounced around teams and had a history of personal issues.
He is fooling himself if he thinks Baker isn't going to force TB to rework his contract. He took the hometown discount because they took a chance on him.
Baker was on his 4th team in 4 years. So it made sense at the time, but he wouldn't sign it if they put it in front of him today.
I don't understand why Chris shits on Purdy? It's not rooted in facts. Purdy is top 10, top 5 even in most categories. He's an elite QB.
Because his stats are alright but he'd only be the starter on like 8 other teams at best

If it wasn't for brock purdy Kyle or lynch would of gotten fired because of the lanc3
What people don’t seem to understand is that teams don’t pay players because they’re good, they pay them because they sell tickets and because that’s what the market dictates. Get used to it.
If you don't pay him the Seahawks would love to pay him.
Would they? I’m not sure which other teams would pay Purdy $50 million a year or more.

So would the Vikings.

@@brocksmith2298we actually didn’t see how it worked out with Trey. They committed to him as the starting QB for a grand total of 2 games. They didn’t just hand him the starting job like they did with Purdy.
@ and that’s fine but you were perfectly healthy on two teams where you were a 3rd sting qb behind Rush and Allen and that tells you all you need to know! Either way let’s say he’s good obviously this coaching staff couldn’t get it out of him and that’s with the pressure of knowing they gave away all those draft picks!

It’s not Lance’s fault he was a raw prospect everyone knew that before the draft.
Saying Purdy isn't close to Baker is crazy.
He doesn’t have the same armstrength.
Niner fan here been telling people everything Chris has been saying and they just push back just like with jimmy people are delusional until they are forced to see the truth Kyle has been using backups his whole time in SF it would be great if Kyle could get a real qb then we can really see things take off
Josh Dobbs scored 3 pts in the first half against the Cardinals, genius take smh
Uh, 1stQ. 1st half they scored 17. 24 by the 3rdQ. So none of the points came in garbage time vs a defense playing soft coverage if that was the point you were trying to make.
Dobbs had a QB rating of 86.0 against the Cardinals with 2 INT.
I suppose Chris Simms would be an expert on below average QB play…
But Chris simms wasn't asking for 50-60 million a year.....purdy is average. His numbers this year were pathetic. 20 tds and 12 ints is bad bro. That's not good numbers at all.

What pro QB cannot throw in rain or snow??? Purdy definitely can't and you wanna pay this man top dollar??? Cmon now.
Top 20? Try top 10. In his worst season he's still 7th in QBR. He has the 49er record for most passing yards in a season, and the fastest 49er to score 50 touchdowns in a career. Without someone like Jerry Rice to throw to. Stop the BS. Pay the kid.
What reality does Simms live in lol
He's not "Lamar or Burrow" elite -- but he's a darn good QB. Several teams would LOVE to sign him in free agency. AND, they'll sign him for a Geno Smith type contract... $35M/yr, plus incentives to make another $2-6 mill, with an opt-out after 2 years.
Brock earned a nice payday

Because he was handed a starting job on a team that had already been to a Super Bowl without CMC Aiyuk or Trent Williams
@@ErikDayne so you’re saying Chris sims would do the same?
Purdy is a more athletic Drew Brees!
Simms is insane.
Can tell Simms is biased against the last pick of the draft with that smug look on his face.
I think they should give him 2/75 or 3/115 & then he gets back to the negotiating table after making a quick buck. Put a couple voidable years on the end to make it look better and to give them flexibility with the cap. Then he can hit the market again at/below 30 & collect bigger checks
The only thing credible here is the fact that Sims knows what a mediocre qb is!!
Top 20? Purdy is in the top 10 of almost every category.
Purdy is the guy
These dudes are smoking drugs

Sounds like 49ers fans better get used to mediocrity for the foreseeable future with Purdy and their ageing Avengers
How did the niners take their time to get a better deal and the Cowboys take their time to pay way above market value. I hope they pay him 50 million a year.
55+ mil a year will look like 25 mil in a few years.
Sheesh. These two. They never did get over the 49ers taking Trey Lance over Mac Jones, did they? LOL.
Darnold isn’t signing for 10 million again
I love this longstanding split screen purplish blue brick background staging. I will endlessly watch these two max their rapport in this context.
He has said Brock was the best QB in that camp because he was the most consistent. But you never know if that would have worked in actual games. Should he have given him a chance earlier in that season? Absolutely, but you can kind of understand why he was hesitant.
Draft the best player available on either side of the ball. DO NOT DRAFT A SYSTEM/SCHEME FIT PLAYER
Some teams will over pay for Purdy. Raiders, Giants, Titan come to mind.
You don’t get top money coming off a season like that Purdy the Golden Gate Bridge quarterback
that's not going to happen. Brock's got 2 divisional title and 1 NFC Championship. He will get paid. The media said the same for Sam Darnold and look what Sam is doing now. He will get paid.
Brock has the same playoff success as Jimmy G
Pretty ridiculous take, $30M per year. Hey super models, what are you doing tommorow night? Dude can make all the throws, and is mobile enough.
Raiders Giants New Orleans Tennessee Browns would pay him. Play hard ball and he leaves then what?
People forget Darnold was at San Fran last year and was Purdys back up
He's top 10
Bottom 10
These takes are so bad. Saying he doesn’t make any awesome off scheduled plays shows they don’t watch the tape.
Didn’t elevate the team!??? Jennings almost hit his 1st 1k season!!!
He lost 5 olineman wtf are you talking about
@@SiahzMommyyy he was the only option other than Kittle. He threw some bad picks that cost the team games.

They always give Kyle too much credit. Kyle has been in SF 8 years, he's never had a better QB. So if they let Purdy go, are we going to wait another 8 years for better QB play?

A franchise QB is not Aiyuk or Deebo. They've seen how Jerry Jones' fiddling with Dak turned out. Their decision is made, but Brock is going to have to accept a number that doesn't destroy the team. He needs to let the team invest in an Oline and field a decent defense. The Me-first QBs who aren't quite capable of carrying the whole show are team-killers. The collapse at Dallas is largely the doing of Dak Prescott.
Nobody ever mentions trevor Lawrence? Lol it's always str8 to tua.....even after Tua led the league in passing.....wonder why
I think mid 40s would be solid for both parties at like 3 years. If Brock doesnt live up, its only upper-mid market and short term. If he plays great, then hes in line for a big time payday in a few years or maybe an early extension
