What i don't understand is why the voltage out of a ULN2003, with 5V source and 5V in, is 0.6V out. Also, in terms of MCUs, would you want to use a darlington pair to power a slightly more power consuming components, such as a relay or LED? (i know you can do that using FETs, but i saw this configuration on a chinese board and i'm having trouble understanding why they did it this way).

When you calculated Rin you havent added R_B yet so after we added that R_in should be (what you wrote // R_B) right?
