The choice of entry music is delightful in that there are repeated slides higher in octave with a resting note just below. It speaks to anticipation of something while the resting note grounds us in reassurance of a solid foundation. The brief clips together in rapid succession suggest a quickening of the spirit, of the mood, of the environment.
You elicited a smile with your casual comment that Ember likes water when we’re quite familiar with her being half fish and your choice of camping locations being somewhat predicated on the proximity of flowing water for her, your love of confluences not withstanding. Given my knowledge of BM’s and their being called “Hair Missiles” by the handlers I knew while over in the ME, I’m going to guess that she’ll need a lot of running, a lot of jumping, and a lot of tugging, all of which I’m sure you’re quite familiar with by now.
Having been to a plethora of State Fairs, I have always loved seeing the animals but always felt disappointed that I couldn’t play with them. It’s good that you got a chance to go though. There’s typically always good food at Fairs as well.
Your inclusion of “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” during the shot of Kushtaka with the door open at night and the lights on under the step, I smiled a bit. Not only is it a beautiful scene that is fantastically framed, it also makes me have to ask you, is it Twinkle Twinkle Little Star or the A,B,C song?
I was considerably surprised to see Jim cooking breakfast as that’s something Cynthia has traditionally done in your videos. Changes all around. If Cynthia does an InstaPot Inspiration in this video, it’ll be confirmed. Everything is upside down.
Seeing Bella’s first time in a river was quite a sight. BM’s aren’t nearly the “water dog” that Ember is. She got up to her belly and decided that was deep enough. If it persists, Jim may have to find some warmer water and pick her up and slowly wade out into the water with her. I’ve had to do that with a few dogs who eventually ended up loving the water…eventually.
“In the single blink of an eye, everything changed.” Cynthia, that appears to be a common theme in life. It seems like just the other day you were filming in your hotel room talking about where you were and wanting to discuss what you did for a living. Oh, The Places You’ll Go. In another blink of the eye, you two were galavanting off in Hawaii in a rented van exploring all you could find and using a rope light in camp for the first time. Oh, The Places You’ll Go. Next thing we knew you were on a mad dash through Canada with an extremely strict timetable on your way to the land where the ground crawls at night, of all places. Oh, The Places You’ll Go. Someone far wiser than myself once quipped, “The only constant is change”. The montage of shots you put after that statement is a testament to such change, and let’s not overlook the slow pan above the ripples in the sand while you filmed Ember. Those ripples are symbols of turbulence, something you might know a thing or two about. That turbulence shows itself in all manners of fashion.
I loved seeing the mountain goats! I’ve only gotten to get up close to them a few times while up on Mt. Rainier. They are amazing creatures.
I never knew you were interested in the new Bronco. I’ve heard good things about it, and hope that it treats you well on the adventures that lie ahead with it. I’m guessing there are a lot of roads you’ll explore with it that you dared not take Kushtaka down. Will you be naming the Broncho as well? Enquiring minds want to know. One thing is for certain, you’ll need to make yourself another Dreamcatcher! Gotta keep yourself happy, healthy, and safe while out exploring!
Good morning Brian! Always great to hear from you. Bella does have a lot of energy but is fairly calm compared to many we have seen. She does have anxiety from her life of work which we are working on relieving. She gets better and better each day. Definitely twinkle twinkle :)
We will see this summer if she can gain an interest in the water but its ok if she doesn't. She definitely seems to like watching Ember play in it either way. The mountain goats get pushed down by the snow up on the peaks. Always fun when we get to see them. We have not decided on a name for the Bronco yet.. I am sure something will come to us. The Bronco will definitely take us deeper on the trails where we will stage Kushtaka as a base camp. Looking forward to exploring more this summer. Have a great week Brian!

Yes we still have our family home. When we use actual repellant we find that Deep Woods works the best. We like to use Thermacells though so we don't always have to spray ourselves.

Yep. Still unsubsidized because these people will have a death of a dog, aka ember, when she drowns in a fast moving river. How do you not see that she struggles?!!! So annoyed. Now, they have 2 dogs to hurt. I used to really enjoy this channel until I see how irresponsible they are with rivers and ember!!
Ember is probably one of the most spoiled dogs on the planet who has travelled more than most people. She is very well taken care of.
