36:51 This is the woman that took him in as a child, she was the closest individual to Crane. Treated him like a grandchild but was not his grandmother. On my reviews I have the meanings behind each song straight from Crane himself. When I say this is my 2nd fav band brother I mean it.
For real, uh, you know what pal? This year, maybe...we'll have more than one AOTY? I mean, I may myself and the year isn't even over yet. Compared to last year too uh, stoneside. alone is doing something really special that I think most people would like, metal fans or not. I will argue that It's a bit hard to compare this release in good faith to anything sleep token solely because of the fact that Stoneside. is not nearly as well-known but, obviously; the stylistic similarities are obvious. Rather, I do think this artist could be the 'next sleep token' solely because they definitely have overlapping audiences/I could see them blow up at some point because ST didn't blow up early on and now well, you know. TL;DR--you know it's good when the kitty enjoys it. Anywho, as always, a dope reaction and mommachar below said it best: stoneside is beyond words. And that was definitely a radiohead inspired ambient outro...spec has a radiohead tattoo so therefore, he is king Radiohead. JOIN THE DISCORD, SINFUl-FANS. @@miodragpavlovic5936 I’m friends with Crane himself and he wrote Dust Cloudin 2015 with his friend Wheeler. Therefore, Stoneside was the influence of Sleep Token. I also love both bands
@@ptbempire And did Crane then produce, record, and then, somehow, sent that song directly to Sleep Token so they can get "inspired" or what? 'Cause for all i can see, Dust Cloud came out to the public this year
to be fair, the compositions remind me more of the band Riverside (but there is a good measure of ST in there too). However, the jarring nature of some instrument and vocal sections overcome the rest for me. It was a good first listen but I don't think I will come back to this album)
Hm. I think I might like this more if I didn't already know Sleep Token. Yes, it's similar, but to me it just feels like an inferior version of Sleep Token... just makes me want to listen to Sleep Token instead. It's different enough in specific ways that I don't like. Exonerate is good, though.
Yeah man I get what your saying man. These guys have definitely a potential to improve but at the same time they much different than Sleep Token looking back on it. They’re are times that stoneside is much heavier. ST is definitely still more divisive. It’s hard to compare but it’s the closest band we have to compare lol
It's closer to Katatonia/Riverside/Opeth than Sleep Token tbh. They're just using the same gimmics as Sleep Token, i.e. wave/trap/electro with basic guitar.
@@ovekmybalz6111 I don't know anything about Katatonia or Riverside and very little about Opeth, but what little Opeth I'm familiar with is just atmospheric metal. This and Sleep Token are clearly progressive alt metal/metalcore.
@@ovekmybalz6111 Idk about basic guitar. Also ST only started dipping into trap sounds (drums) around their 2nd full album. Not really much of a gimic more than a diversification of sound.
I mean it’s bound to happen with every game changing sound. Same thing happened with BMTH and Attack Attack! Many will try to replicate the same sound others will take inspiration and make something great
The *CHONK* ... the *SYNTHS* ...can't get enough! AOTY contender!
100% welcome to purgatory brother, it’s sad cuz most music reviewers will miss this masterpiece. It’s up to us to share
@@ptbempire Hell yee brotha!

nice find
6:34 welcome to Stoneside my friend. Band since 2016 yes before Sleep Token. Top influences are Deftones, Depeche Mode, NIN
Just for the record, Sleep Token formed in 2016, Stoneside formed in 2020, so yeah...fan of both bands, just sayin'

i hope everybody doesn't try to do sleep token like they tried to do LOATHE when they broke out.

VAST was doing this time of music over 30 years ago..
another amazing artist
39:44 Archetype: Gojira with pitch shifter
