that’s actually called littermate syndrome and it’s horrible for your cat, (not trying to insult, i’m a veterinarian) please don’t adopt liter mates it can and usually does, cause them to get severely depressed and unkind to you or your family because they almost “gang up” on you.
@@kelqz This is just not true. Littermate Syndrome has no scientific basis; there has been no credible scientific studies, at all, that back up this urban legend. It is a popular shorthand, especially among dog behaviouralists, to mean a series of behaviours that arise from not training your dogs properly. Yes it is true that raising two dogs at the same time is extremely challenging, and this leading to its own set of problems is understandable, but it is not because of some “syndrome” that is out of the control of the owner/trainer. Since this is just a name given to a series of behavioural problems that are commonly seen together, that does not mean that these two cats having some separation anxiety automatically means that they have “Littermate Syndrome”. All that this fear-mongering about Littermate Syndrome is doing is preventing more animals from being adopted and creating unnecessary anxiety.
Yep you are correct! Good rule to follow is if you hear screaming and crying you might wanna separate, much like kids 😂 If no screaming, let them have their fun!
Remember fellow viewers: NEVER DO WHAT THIS PERSON DID IN THIS VIDEO! the kitten will miss it's sibling after they sepparate again! And it's saddening. Sometimes it can even make them sick and depressed!

The bond between siblings is incredibly sweet, but just know it becomes extremely hard when they become seniors. Especially when their health declines at different speeds, and one crosses the rainbow bridge before the other.
I was gonna mention this. I know if you get 2 dogs from the same litter and one dies, then the second often follows shortly thereafter because of the separation. If the second lives for very long, they tend to have a drastic change in personality and become very mopey and depressed. I imagine it'd be similar (but not the same) for cats.
🥺 so precious… I have - well… “had”.. twin orange boys for 15 years. One of my precious baby boys just passed away in November and I can tell you without a doubt that the surviving brother still remembers his baby brother and still searches for him calling out for him ever. Single. Day. it breaks my heart hearing his sad little “meeps” when his brother never comes … gawd I miss my baby boy so much 💔 rip precious Boy.. the connection that bonded siblings share completely transcends any time they have spent apart ❤️
I have two tuxedo litter mates who look nearly identical. They were from a litter of 4 but these two were so closely bonded that the rescuer couldn’t bear to separate them. It took 7 months to find them a good (and healthy) home together. They still melt my heart when they go into brotherly affection mode XD
I have two brother cats (strays who were born in our backyard during early summer, but the night we discovered them it rained but we accidentally left our back garage door open so their mom put them in there. They have two sisters who were put up for adoption and have been adopted) and their bind is incredible. We can always count on them to find the other if the other is trapped somewhere, or come to the "rescue " by clawing at the door if we are giving one of them a bath. They really are adorable
My spouse found a pair of siblings in Texas desert While passing through 🐰🐺 They can be assholes to each other, but the biggest gift from nature to me ❤☺️
When I adopted my kitten, he and his twin sister never saw each other ever since. One day, we brought the kitten so he can reunite with his family. When I put him out of his cage, he and his sister hissed at each other. His mom is afraid of him, his grandma and uncles are just chillin and nonchalantly staring at him
I have 2 orange littermates who were separated for 3.5 years. I adopted the first cat at 11 weeks old and then got his brother when he needed a new home. I don't know that they recognize each other, but they get along well. They don't really cuddle, but they'll hang out or sleep near each other. They love to play fight and chase each other. 😊
We kept the whole litter and ended up with 7 cats in all. Best experience ever. Mom never stopped being Mom with discipline, baths, playtime, and love, and they all respected her authority. 😻
I love this sm!! My two oldest cats are brothers, and it really is exactly like that 😅 it just stops being *that* cute when I'm trying to sleep and my leg gets caught in the battle... I brought in a kitten in late 2022. They didn't like her at all in the beginning, but the three of them have been like siblings ever since! You can only tell they are not from the same litter because she is the tiniest 💖
I have two siblings cats and my black cat always grooms the other(The sibling cats), it's so adorable they barely even play fight they just nap it's adorable
I have two cats, their sisters from the same litter. I adopted them when they for two months old and now they are three years old. They are so sweet together and are always grooming each other, attached to the hip!
I have two boys, who the shelter said they think are brothers but from different litters- and they are super bonded. They play fight ( or well take turns smacking each other's heads) , groom each other, chase each other , lay together. One of them got spooked by thunder and hid , and the other one *YOWLED* until his brother came back
I agree! Siblings are great. We captured and (soso) tamed three siblings (2M, 1F). They quit play fighting after Zym was accepted as alpha by Zephyr. They are 2-1/2yrs old now, about a year ago we added Quinn, a kitten. He challenged Zephyr twice for the beta position…he lost. Now they all get along well.
One of my regrets was not also adopting the sibling of our baby. Couldn’t afford it at the time and had a small place so it wasn’t practical but I’d have love for our little guy to have his sibling be his lifelong playmate and friend.
This is same with father and son as well. Usually male cats are territorial. But my cat is getting along well with his son.... they are soo adorable ❤❤
Quick answe: Yes. two of my cats (i have three), are brothers and we adopted one for my brothers birthday and the next day one of my other brothers wanted a kitten also and as soon as we brought that 2nd kitten home, they recognised each other almost immediately ❤️❤️
My calico furbabies, Mollie & Ellie are twin sisters from the same litter who have been adopted together ♥️🐾🐾 they were only 3 months old when I became their adoptive mom. At present, they’ll be stepping into 10 years in November 5th 🎂🐈🐈
It’s been about a little over a year I adopted litter mates. Sisters. Eva and Frannie. I kept the same names the foster mother gave them. Names are not a big deal to me and I did not want to confuse them by all of a sudden calling them Susan and Vanessa. lol. But yeah they prefer to be around each other way more then by the other two cats I have
I got my first cat from the same cat litter that her brother was in. At first i only wanted one kitten with me and her brother was going to a friend of my dad but things got worst sooo i also adopted their kittens (it was about 2-3 weeks from when they got separated) and when they were together they started to bond. Its been 3 years that they are together and they are very protective of each other and play together!!
Our cat Jinjah's cattery that he went to when we went on holiday was also where he was bred, his parents and some siblings lived there. He would often join then in the house and sleep with his siblings and mother.
When I got my first they were two little brothers from a litter of 5 that a stray gave birth to in my friends backyard but unfortunately mom never came back for them one day we think she got hit by a car or rescued, we’re hoping the latter but one night i asked if I could have one and he said sure when I went to go pick the kitten up only 2 were left huddled together in the corner of this big dog kennel like guarding each other so obviously I didn’t have the heart to separate them so I took them both and it was the best decision I ever made!!
I have adopted siblings twice, and the first time they didn’t care. They must not have wanted the brother they got stuck with. The 2nd time has been this close bond, a co-dependent bond. They can’t be separated! The boy has separation anxiety, and the girl mothers him. He can cry from a different part of the house and she does like a “really, I was having a good dream and now I have to leave my warm and cozy human to come find you” She’s like an annoyed mom who just wants to get some sleep. Lol
Bonds between siblings also happen with different animals. After my little niece's guinea pig passed away, she had a desire to take care of a rat. So, my brother and his wife did good research and decided to adopt two male rats from same litter, so they won't be bored. Oh, the photos they send me are amazing! They like to play with each other A LOT, they groom each other and get mad if they're separated. It's sad rats don't live long but they're very majestic animals and smart😊
My cat gave birth a while ago, we had to give all of the kittens away but after like 3 months we pet sitter one of the babies and him and his mom still recognized each other ❤
I have cats who are almost twins from the same litter. The longest they've ever been apart is 3 days because of an emergency vet visit for one of them. They only ever fight every 6 to 8 months, and it's usually because one of them bites his brother, and then the other one gets annoyed and bites back while they cuddle. They look almost identical but they have very different personalities.
My mom and baby cat were like this, the mom is gone now, but we used to have to seperate them when the mom was getting too old to fight back. The baby was a fighter, lol.
We rescued a pregnant black cat which gave us a litter of 4 kittens, 2 of them got adopted but we prefer to not make them see each other again since it makes them sad when they sepparate again!
I have sibling cats and their bond is special. But they also love to fight. 😂
Yeah me too
Yes same haha
I see the 2 cats 🐈 on your profile pic! ❤😊
Always adapt in duo.
I've a feeling our two are half siblings 😅
I have two litter mate kitties (now a year old) and they hate being separated no matter how many play/real fights they have 😂❤
Same 😊

I used to be very nervous when my cats would play fight, but it turns out real fights are *very* obvious and very loud.

Absolutely! The noises made during actual fights are crazy
Just pay attentions to their tails. If it's ultra puffed up then it's some real shit
This broke my heart, poor babies, I wish they could all grow together and keep that very sweet bond

I got two boy siblings when they were about three months old. They are 13 now. They are hot and cold with each other in recent years.
I have siblings a boy and a girl. They were found alone on a side walk together. I’m glad I took them both.
Exactly. I also have 2 siblings. They both are girls. And it the best decision ever truly
