Old school fighters used to move up for bigger challenges. Today's fighters rather punch down, Great example of this is Benavidez and Haney it took them this long to fight a guy their size. Because they hide behind the excuse "well if you can make the weight". All that means is if i can make the lower weights than i don't have to take a risk at my weight or higher. It strictly comes from a place of fear and doubt why they don't move up or fight in their own weight class. Ezzard Charles moved from Middleweight to Heavyweight just to get a fight, Tommy Hearns has a title at light heavyweight. What's their excuse?
I've heard from Tank that he gets up to 180. If they can make the weight they'll do it. If not change weight classes

Mayweather basically forced Ryan to make weight because they knew he wasn't decipline enough to make 136. Ryan fans just can't accept that he shouldn't have been campaigning at 135 because he is too big. He could never make the weight without being forced to.

Boxing or any combat sport should have a hydration test like the NCAA, to scale fighter and see how much they could cut naturally. And also implement two day wrestling tournament rule where you can’t gain more than 2 pounds the next day. It’s crazy how you have some fighters that could easily balloon up to over 20 pounds and the opponent doesn’t gain more than a few pounds.
This is the same as Benavidez. You can see he starves himself to fight smaller guy.

I know in my 20s I was walking around at 130 and nomatter what I did that was it in my 30s I was walking around at 165 and when I quit training I ballooned to 190 now in my 60s 160 is it period. Long as they don't miss weight. They weigh in needs to happen the day of the fight that help stop weight bullies.
