  • Today's session focuses on hitting the ground for the first time without putting too much strain on the body. What we need from any goalkeeper entering a developmental cycle is high repetitions hitting the ground/diving without pushing too far. Services from the hands allow for a controlled service. At this stage of development, the goalkeeper can then focus on advancing and perfecting their technique, rather than forcing big saves with bad technique. A simple dive from a controlled service means the goalkeeper will always have a successful rep, and ensure they have the ability to catch, land, and regroup into the second action.
We added multiple elements in each repetition to build up the goalkeeper's coordination, and also build up the goalkeeper's mind, in their ability to properly set for different shots and situations. At this stage, we do not want the goalkeeper to start reacting; we simply want controlled actions. Each goalkeeper was able to finish with successful reps in each element, rather than facing save after save without a care for technique and thought processes.
The KRONIS Methodology invites goalkeepers looking to return to serious development, or the youth goalkeeper practicing the position without the direct guidance of a goalkeeper coach. The session is replicable with the help of a parent, a sibling, a teammate, or a friend, only needing a ball or two and some space to play.
This free training program, powered by KRONIS, aims to be a resource for those that cannot afford or access a goalkeeper coach. Using the KRONIS Methodology as a guide, you too can achieve your goal of becoming a high-level goalkeeper one day.
