This is a great kit, however that is NOT a tourniquet and should not be marketed as such. That nitrile band is used to briefly occlude blood flow for a peripheral IV insertion, it will not stop massive blood flow from penetrating trauma. Adding a legitimate tourniquet, such as the Combat Action Tourniquet, or any other military grade/tested tourniquet is a superior option and a necessity in any hunting/shooting first aid kit. The large multi-trauma dressing is an unlikely piece to use and could free up space for the addition of a better tourniquet.
I purchased two of these March 2024 with high hopes and was disappointed to find that the plastic internal compartments do not envelope the contents. One side is a rubber plastic, which is nice, but this is stitched against the nylon case. So, I would think, contents would get ruined if you fell in a creek or got stuck in a long-term downpour. This may make a descent truck kit. But, I would not trust it in the field to keep contents dry. Zippers, both internal and external, do not appear to be waterproof or water resistant either. It would be great to have plastic zippered envelopes that were velcroed in and removable. Sorry, but I feel you missed the mark on this one. This, plus not having a real tourniquet or Israeli bandage creates some gaps in this kit. I’m sorry to say but for the price, I’ll be sending these back.
