Was the food given to you, safe. Did you sleep soundly full night, or did you wake up, in between?
That will explain, if your food was safe or mixed with something.
I have seen, in one video of some place, locals bringing dead bodies of tourists, who could not withstand the steep walk and thin air and died. Tourist had to register themselves, before going up there.
So, that's why those locals were telling you to go back.

When travelling solo, divide your money in 3 parts and keep it in 3 different places in your belongings. Wallet should only have plastic currency/credit cards and nothing else.
I do this all the time.. Solo traveling is more of a caution thing than any just adventure..
Why would you leave your wallet unattended and away from you even for a few mins when you are staying at a hotel or home stay? Also, it's a good practice to check your belongings at the hotel room itself before embarking on trekking or whatever. I don't leave my wallet unattended even when i am at my relative's house 😅😅😅

When i do backpacking i carry some cash n do rest transactions online,but in your case you r going for treck n that requires hard cash when doing your own..anyways dont let one bad incident effect your travelling vibes x

Mai gai thi 2022 mai Jan 1st ko sankri pahuchi thi aur 2nd Jan ko trekking shuru kri thi. Due bad climate info, my health got bad and I couldn't complete my this trek aur abh kabhi nahi krni

Sri Sohan Lal ji were Ranger during that petiod who facilitated our trek
This thing happened with me in sankari, i booked with ahvaan group and spent a nite in sankari, next morning i went for a bath and i realised some one came into my room, luckily my wallet was with me but i lost my jacket and gimbal, i reported to ahvaan group they denied to help and said we are not responsible for belongings

UPI is pretty much usable in the remotest part of India.
I had a completely opposite experience. During my second visit to this kedarnatha and har ki dun, one of the local person arranged a pass for me( I told him that I have already done these treks before). However , commercialization of these simple treks has ruined their beautiful and economic viability, especially for solo travelers.
