  • Bhagirathi river is drying up day by day. After a long eastward journey through the plains of North India, the Ganga enters West Bengal leaving the Rajmahal Hills on the right. 72 km beyond Rajmahal, Farakka barrage divides the Ganga into two parts, 40 km ahead of here. One stream of the Indian river flows through West Bengal for 500 km and flows south into the Bay of Bengal. The other river named Padma flows 60 km along the India-Bangladesh border and enters Bangladesh for 130 km. The Yamuna flows another 130 km and joins the Meghna River near Chandpur for 125 km. The path flows into the Bay of Bengal. Bhagirathi, the main river of South Bengal, is suffering from severe water crisis today.Bhagirathi river is drying up and Sagardeep is disappearing. The cause of water scarcity in bhagirathi river.Bhagirathi river has dried up, severe and water distress days are approaching in South Bengal, Bhagirathi or Hooghly river we know as Ganga to the people of South Bengal, Farakka barrage was built to increase the navigability of Bhagirathi Hooghly river, but in reality it was seen that because of that Farakka barrage today Ganga Padma and Bhagirathi Three big rivers are drying up. Our large deltas like Ganges, Padma and Meghna, which used to be rich in fertile alluvial soil, have become the biggest concern for us today. With Bhagirathi drying up, National Waterway number one will also disappear very soon, also Bandel thermal power station and NTPC thermal power station units may have to be shut down in future as Bhagirathi river dries up. Drinking water of Calcutta Corporation is extracted from the banks of river Bhagirathi Hooghly. As the Hooghly river recedes, salt water from the sea enters downstream. As a result, only time will tell whether this water project will exist in Kolkata in the future. The tributaries of Bhagirathi River are also dying day by day along with Bhagirathi. The rivers of Hooghly and the ground water of Murshidabad district, which is almost at its end, contain deadly toxins like arsenic and nitrate. Today, arsenic is found in rice, milk, egg, meat, fish, that is, arsenic has entered our food chain. We are moving towards this dire situation. If we don't need to be aware from this moment, we will be out of existence in a few decades.,
River is the birthplace of civilization so death of river means death of civilization. Let us identify the lost rivers of Bengal. And we vow to preserve dead and near-dead rivers. In addition to the rivers of Bengal, we have tried to highlight the wetlands of Bengal, the ecosystem and biodiversity of Bengal in our channel. For example, birds of Bengal, snakes of Bengal, insects of Bengal etc. Global warming and water crisis which are destroying the biodiversity and animal existence of the whole world day by day. So we mainly make public awareness videos on our channel. And this is our small effort to present all these wild animals, ecosystems, rivers and water bodies of Bengal to the future generations.Sagardeep or Gangesagar Ganga meets the Bay of Bengal here i.e. the estuary of the Ganga. The Ganges flows for about 2525 km and forms at the mouth of the Bay of Bengal, a large delta of the Sundarbans. According to the population of 2011, the total population of the island is now more than 15,000. Sagardeep can be called a fully equipped modern village with schools, colleges and hospitals. However, due to continuous global warming, this island is sinking into the Bay of Bengal day by day. Not only the Ganges, many islands like Ghoramara Mausini Lohachra, Newmoor Island have sunk into the Bay of Bengal. Millions of people in the Sundarbans have become ecological refugees due to global warming. These Sundarbans are disappearing day by day. The future will tell whether the Sundarbans, the world's largest mangrove forest, will survive. World climate change will not endanger our existence after that?. headstream, the Bhagirathi, is considered the source stream.Tributary of Alokananda
