This is Hironobu Sakagitchi's favorite of all the Final Fantasy games he helped make as he's gone on record. This was a return to what he loved about the series. You can tell there is so much love in this game. It's one of my personal favorites of the series too and I can't watch the ending without tearing up.
To add to these, Nobuo Uematsu said his favorite music work is FFIX and then changed to FFVI(also great game).
Among the 3 PS1 FF, FFIX is just much more memorable tunes and jingles that I could remember humming.

Well since the final words are directed to him, even if he didn't see, he sure believed he was alive.
Regrettably I had missed the end because of time zones, but seeing how this game finishes always makes my cry no matter how many times I see it, no matter how much I'm prepared for or memorize it. I'm so happy y'all enjoyed FFIX, it's of my favorites in the franchise and it holds a lot of special sentiments for me, and I had a blast getting to see what I was able to live!
For mouse, I imagine this game about living life to its fullest (regardless of a short or long life) by being around the people you care for the most means a little extra to Mousey.
This is the epitome of making friendship along the way rpg.
I always had a thought in my head that “Would FFIX still hold the test of time as a game from graphics, story, gameplay, music score and immersiveness from a new player’s POV”? since it’s the tail end of the PS1 cycle and shadowed over many other PS1 games.
I’m still glad I am proven wrong that I can watch new players come and discover this gem of a game from an old guy perspective.

The people behind moguri mod who worked to AI upscale a lot of the graphics as well as the port to portable then steam helps a lot to improve the visuals compared to the original PSX release.
@@alexle6105Oh I totally forgot about the Moguri Mod, if anything Moguri and gang did the visual upscale tremendously and feels way more smoother.
FF7 is always still my favourite final fantasy for the world building, the characters. But FF9 will always be the most memorable one for the journey with friends, the wholesomeness, and the emotions
Mousey crying at the end really got me crying too
FF9 has for me the best dialogue writing in any Final Fantasy before or since. More substantive than what came before and not hindered by hit/miss voice acting from later. The humour really shines through all the cast, and you find yourself rooting for everyone.
Combat is a little on the slow side, and the super/hidden-bosses aren't quite challenging enough, but aside from that it's pretty goat'd.
Yeah, I still think FF7 (only the og, not everything that came afterward) has the best plot, but the dialogues between the characters in FF9 are the best in the entire series, for sure.
What a wholesome stream. Also the good voice acting really adds joy to these older FFs games.
Mouse sobbing for like 8 straight minutes is the realest thing in the world. As a whole, 7 is still my favorite.... but 9 has my favorite ending by far, and arguably my favorite cast of the series. Glad you enjoyed it Connor :)
For me , i typically don’t like v tubers but the Conner mouse duo will always seem like to friends that genuinely just like playing games together rather then to put on some persona.
So that crying at the end got me too because it just was real emotional feeling I went through playing this game with my brother . It kinda just makes me relive playing it over again watching

Was really happy to see you enjoy this game as much as I have over the years. Nostalgic doesn't do it justice. Great playthrough my guy, and glad to hear your adding this as one of your favorites as well.
You can tell Connor really loved this one by the sheer focus and concentration he gave tot the dialogue at some point. This really was a joy to watch, and hearing a professional VA voice some of these characters was an amazing experience as well.
This game has been my favorite ever since 2001 and I doubt anything will ever surpass it for me, it's just perfect.

@@ThatGBAGamer Honestly I'm happy with that. As much as I love FFVII Remake/Rebirth, I don't want to wait like 12 years to play a FFIX remake. They don't have as much extended universe stuff to expand like FFVII so I think it'll be much better as one game.

Out of all the Final Fantasy games, FF9 gets better the older you get and the more you play it. It still holds up to this day.

Ive always said, 7 is nostalgic and more imaginative, tactics is more grandiose, but 9 is a master class in character development and high fantasy.
10 playthrough is the one I'm most anticipating personally. Everyone already agrees 9 is amazing, but 10 is one of the more divisive entries, so I'm curious to see how a first timer will react to it not knowing the memes and such.

Duuuude when i played DQ11 and Vesperia I kept thinking to my self woah this reminds me of FF9 in so many moments. They must have been at least a bit inspired by it. I think i need to check out Trails now.

Final Fantasy IX is a masterpiece. Its one of my favorite games of all time and what a beautiful ending.

He did not say it. It’s mostly for see the shock on both Garnt and Joey face especially Joey since Joey told Connor on the Favorite 2023 3x3 that he should played X first than IX in a later date. Though to be fair X is also good and cant wait for Connor to play it

@@ItzMunix0916 I kind of doubt that. I am sure he will probably enjoy it, but he prefers more classic fantasy settings like 9. I have a feeling he won't like the ability growth system of 6 as much either, and 9 seemed like it had the perfect ending for him. It is gonna be hard to beat.

The worst part about being an FF9 fan is that if a Remake is ever made for it, it will never receive nearly half of the attention, love dedication and care that FF7 is getting. And that fucking SUCKS because this is my number 1 Final Fantasy and I hate knowing this.

At the final boss I realize how bad Connor is at this game 😂. Ive played this game umteen times and Ive literally never died at this boss, or seen anyone else die for that matter 😅. But he learned the mechanics eventually. Glad he enjoyed it, def. the pinnacle of the Final Fantasy series, and a high point for gaming in general. Like he said, its said that many of today's games dont even measure up to this PS1 game.
It's a bit upsetting that SquareEnix isn't even able to make steam port that have the music and the video synchronized. They throw hundreds of millions into their goddam remakes but they can't make a single decent port/remaster. It's the bare minimum to have image and sound together.

How is Connor struggling so much during Necron boss fight? I cleared him with ease and all my team members were below LVL 50. I legit had more struggle with random Behemoth encounters than the bosses.

The opening and ending are the only parts I really liked of the game. Rest felt generic and bland. Absolutely hated the art direction and furry stuff.
