Static Caravan Renovation Timelapse
Вставка
- Опубліковано 9 лют 2025
- In 2020 we moved from the Essex coast to the Highlands of Scotland. We had bought 7 acres, a ruined barn and a pretty run down caravan. So we managed to find another caravan locally which was delivered and we spent our first Scottish winter shivering in it! We could get it warm with our woodturner but just couldn't keep it warm. We needed a solution, we needed insulation. So this is what we did, we turned our cold caravan into a genuinely warm and cosy cabin and we're still loving it almost 5 years on as we get closer to finishing renovating that ruined barn I mentioned.
All the music in this timelapse video is music I have recorded myself and is available on CD or download from adriannation.c...

Well if subscribing to nonsense is like what you have done to the old cold caravan into a nice looking cozy cabin then I’m up for that. Well done guys great job. 👍👍 🇬🇧
Very kind, thankyou. Aye there's lots more like this.
Very clever way to get a new house!! Especially liked the fire pit recycle. All the best to you folks and critters.
Thankyou kindly, definitely the cheapest house we'll ever buy!
Lovely looking you have done a great job on it. I could live happily in it full time.
Thankyou kindly. We are very happy in it whilst we renovate our barn.
I've never seen anyone do that before, but it's definitely a HUGE improvement in looks and warmth! 😊👍
Aye, I was pretty pleased to come up with the idea and enjoyed the way it evolved as I went along. Quite a few folk have sent me pictures of there own versions of it after seeing the original videos I did.
Awww…I liked the revolving fire pit. Dryer barrels make the best ones. 😊
Yes it's a nice feature. I remember the night it was finally finished and we were determined to cook something on it. So we had a glass of wine and cooked a couple of pieces of salmon and stood out there eating it. It was minus 1 !
What a transformation. I loved that change. Amazing cabin.
That's very kind of you, we love it too.
Never come across the technique for preserving wood like that before. Very natural, although it looks time consuming, but must way better than using chemicals and paints. Great video.
It's an ancient Japanese technique which apparently make the timber rot proof, fire resistant and insect resistant for as much as 80 years!! If it's only half as good as that it will do me! Its been a few years now since I did it and the deck etc is showing no signs of degrading.
Thank you, sheep, for helping keep people warm
Sheep are just great.
The cabin is amazing, I love the way you used sheep's wool for insulation.
The fire-pit looks cool too. You are very creative matey. Cheers from Aussie 👍 ❤
Lovely to hear from Down Under. Thankyou kindly for taking the time to comment.
Absolutely loved this video as I didn’t come across you guys until December this was a great catchup to see the start of your journey revolving fire pit you built is 1st class and loved the use of sheepskins as insulation was a brilliant idea thoroughly enjoying watching you both renovating the building 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👌💐
Ah thank you so much. It's great to know folks like you are following along and enjoying the journey with us. Lots more to come.
That was time and effort well spent. "I've had an idea" is the point where my honeybunch takes on a strange haunted look and whimpers a little. Great start to the day. Cheers.
That's how this whole show keeps going eh. We come up with what we think are great ideas and our better halves raise there eyebrows! Thanks so much for the comment.
That was fun to watch. Looks so cozy now. The fire pit is the cherry. Thank you.
Ah thankyou so much, it was fun to do as well.
Im sticking with you both, what a pair of brilliant minds, subbed and looking forward to seeing the rest of your videos 😊
Wow that's such a lovely message to read. Thankyou kindly for joining us, there's plenty more to come.
What a project and so beautiful!
Thankyou so kindly.
I realise it took some time but you are incredibly hard workig. Modest as well, each time you communicate " we did ..." I can see one building man. Surely the other part of the crew had some work, too.
Great project, incredible result. Thank you for the pleasure while watching and admiring your work 😊
You'll have seen Lindsay my partner a few times in this video having a go at various tasks. The reason you don't see her that often is because she works full time so that I can concentrate on getting all the work done here. Without her it would not be in the slightest bit possible so that is why I generally say 'we' when talking about what is getting done I guess.
@LadyfieldFarm Thanks, my best regards to both of you 🤗
Thanks again
That was some feat - brilliant!
Thankyou kindly.
Wonderful and beautiful video.............thank you for your cabin...........beautiful
Ah thanks so much. Love to read comments like that.
Some man for one man - love the guitar
Very kind thankyou.
Well done to the north Lodge transport that wasn't an easy drop the boys are good a d very accommodating
They really were excellent. The teamwork to get it across the bridge was a joy to watch, very precise. Highly recommend.
Now that your settled how you finding life wonderful I hope
Life is great. The locals have welcomed us so warmly and we feel part of the community. No regrets.
Good happy to hear it may all your troubles be small and your successes huge .
New to your " nonsense" so really enjoyed seeing the timelapse. Love the fire pit! Nan, Tazewell Virginia USA
Ah thankyou kindly. I can tell from your comment that you watched righto the end so thanks for that, glad you're enjoying the videos.
That was a cool compilation. I love that you used wool for insulation and the Japanese treatment (?) method on the veranda. I bet you were glad to have that starting in the second year. Hope things are going well. Stay safe.
Spot on it's a Japanese technique. It has made such a difference to our con=mfort levels and looks so much better too eh. All is well here thanks.
Incredible incredible incredible Quality your talents are amazing and endless regards Howard from Cyprus 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thankyou kindly Howard. I'm going to have to stretch those talents before we get finished!
Oh how easy you make it look but you are a true professional 🤣💖
Thakyou kindly, I've been doing this kind of thing a long time now.
Fantastic job mate…well done..really enjoyed the video ❤
Always nice to hear folks are enjoying what we are putting out, Thankyou kindly.
Thanks for posting this recap, I watched your original videos a couple of years ago and thought the project was superb.
And you hung around for more!!
This must of been so good you did this with the recent storm very clever
Yes it has been one of the best things we have done since we came here. The weight of the verandah alone probably helps it stay n place in a gale.
Great compilation and awesome work as ever
Thankyou kindly.
Hope you folks are ok 😊
We're doing great thankyou kindly.
Just joined and subscribed to your channel. Wow what a skilful gu you are. I am sure it will inspire many couples to have a go. Will done to you both. I am looking forward to building Journey.
That's brilliant, thanks for joining us and our journey. It is a nice thought that these videos could inspire other folks to do similar.
Brilliant.
Thankyou kindly.
The point at which l subscribed.👍
That's nice to hear, glad you're sticking around.
❤
That's so neat. Love the live edge on the siding. Wanna come do mine? Lol
Thanks a lot, I'm not allowed to leave until our barn renovation is done!
Great job 😊 I hope the sheepwoll is not getting wett from condensation.
Thankyou kindly. Well we are 4 years now since we insulated and all is well. Doesn't appear to be any condensation or damp at all.
Lots of hard work!
Is sheep fleece costly..?
Oh and a sun nap🐾🐾💜. Good job as usual. Hope the fire pit is coming in handy.🇨🇦🥃🥂🍺
I help the local farmers roll their fleeces up and bag them when they are shearing so I got to take a few bags for free. Wool used to be worth a lot of money to the farmers but not anymore. In fact it often costs them more to transport it that they get for it so you should be able to get some very cheap.
Great accomplishment.
Thankyou kindly, it is standing the test of time too.
Just WOW 😮🥶👌
Well thankyou!
Very warm love the fleece you used fire retardant as well ❤
Exactly, the sheep have thought of everything!
Sam and Bec might have gotten the idea from you. The recent storm ripped the roof off unfortunately.
Yes they did, Sam mentioned us in one of the videos they put out when he was cladding their caravan. Several folks have copied the design which is really nice to see.
Sows ear to silk purse 👍
It can be done!
Hey, super nice and cosy caravan. Its looks absolute stunning. Do you rent the caravan for guests to spend holydays, when your house get ready?
(Sorry for my english, its not so good. I'm from Germany.)
Lots of love and good luck for your futureprojects, Kirstin 🙋♀️😘
Thanks Kirstin, well we haven't ruled out that idea yet so it may happen.
Do you plan to put an insulated skirt around the bottom?
We ended up filling the gap with straw bales which worked pretty well although some have rotted a bit now and the dogs do enjoy hanging out under there when it rains!
I use an app to identify music on UA-cam..you'll be glad to know it identified this videos sound track as Bach's Toccata & Fugue 🤣
Ha ha that's brilliant and quite the compliment to be mistaken for Bach. They are all tunes of mine, Carpé Meridianus, Five Finger Rapids and one as yet untitled.
Mmm not sure.
About what?
That's not renovating a caravan when you only do the outside, what about the inside.
Funny you should ask!.....

Great job!😁
Thankyou kindly.
