I think we're lucky that information about this technology is being released to the public instead of kept secret at private institutions. Knowing about this technology can level the playing field between common people and the elites. They could've easily kept this technology behind closed doors and to themselves.
Doubt it, they've been very slow in progress and unless they merge with a titan AI company they'll be left in the dust. They have the hardware but not the software
Boston Dynamics will be facing heated competition soon, so I doubt they'll get the same level of success Nvidia did. Nvidia had the advantage of having a near monopoly
When I was a kid, I watched RoboCop. The machine ED-209 was terrifying enough, but it couldn't walk down stairs. Imagine this machine armed with two giant machine guns and a screwdriver attached to its head instead of that cute little camera. Now, I know all these scientists and big AI companies are doing their best to ensure there are no 'security loopholes.' However, in a year or two, it could only take a couple of geniuses with a 'dream'-I don't know what the dream is yet, but we'll find out soon enough-and they might program these robots to do some seriously bad damage to the world. I try to stay positive about it; perhaps these robots could save some lost teenage hikers from a snowy forest, or rescue people from a nuclear power plant accident. Yes, I'm sure they will.
I feel and think the same things as you do. I explain it like this... You can go out and purchase a car and drive it every day to work or just to do fun things. The car is doing what you ask of it. BUT, you can also take that same car and drive through a crowd of people, hurting them. It all depends on who is behind the wheel. I'm afraid that AI and robotics will be the same. You can almost guarantee that the governments of the world are close to using things like Atlas for warfare, at least I think. It's going to be an interesting next decade or so...
That demo with Boston Dynamic's robots Spot and Atlas was extremely impressive! I'm convinced Boston Dynamics is definitely a strong competitor for Tesla and Elon Musk, excited to see where things will go from here.
"Products made in America should be American when they leave the U.S. and American when they come back to the U.S.".......... WTF??? How does that make sense???
I think it's where a customer is able to enter a text description of an item and AI searches the thousands of pictures and data entries immediately. The AI doesn't replace the data input (yet) but does replace anyone having to read the customer's text description and match it to a stored image.
Well chartering flights is quite the complex problem. It's always been highly optimized as you might think, but isn't dynamic (100% accounting for weather, delays, payload & shipping goods, empty seats, etc.). A neural net deciding the output based on dynamic constraints would be a perfect fit.
Such a lovely robot, well ! we need those guys in Guwantanamo bay to do the job and avoid humains telling what's going on inside the walls when they get depressed at home.
also.. if they are going to apprehend a human.. they probaby will be equiped with special appendages that can grab and hold an assailent without having to use lethal force and without puting a human officer at risk.. and most times that is all that is needed.. just need something that is stronger than the human. And i am pretty sure that drones will be created that can chase a fleeing car or motorcycle and then attach to the vehicle.. giving the officers eyes, ears, voice, and tracking on the vehicle.
I don't think it will happen, because if that is the case, no one will have money to buy the products and services these companies are selling. The economy will become completely stagnant. It just will not work.
Boston Dynamics … you ever going to release something? How are you still in business, you’ve been sold many times and these are fancy robots but we’ve seen them for years and they never came to market. This amounts to a party trick at best.
They sell to commercial customers and I think the military as well. Our company has a few of the spot robots. It's very expensive, so it's not the kind of robot that would be used for residential customers at the moment, the spot robot is around $75,000 if I recall correctly. I think you can rent it though.
Spot has been available for purchase since 2020, and it is $75k as another comment mentioned. There are much cheaper alternatives like one from Unitree that's $1,600-$2,800 depending on the modules added, I assume it's likely much less capable than Boston Dynamics but might still be able to do some basic monitoring jobs. From what I understand one of the target customers for Spot is industrial sites where the robot can go and monitor various places for gas leaks, temperatures out of range, etc. Nothing so far that connected sensors can't do.
Boston Dynamics need to realise humanity need robots that are thinner than gr1. the thinner it is the better we can artificially skin it as well as mass produce among having it extremely cheaper. The other key to the success of robotic is utilization of self made electricity. the cheapest of that is having two magnetic of same magnetic field as both rotor and stator, that movement to spin alternator. That robot with inbuild power will enable to solve its power hungry to be even more efficient. the powering must have inbuild step up transformers to utilise small power source to cover the entire robot power needs.
Both Russia and Ukraine already use a significant number of drones in warfare, drones and robotics used in military has been pretty common use since the 2000's.
War of the Machines is coming. Goodbye humanity. "I'll be back"- Arnold Schwarzenegger, Terminator series! No need to make human babies, make AI babies instead.
The excitement over this is so dystopian. This is all fun and games but we already know we cant trust our corporate citizens in this country. Dont forget that.
Oh I have an idea. Let's have an international AI non-profit oversight group that maintains all the AI for the world. We can even use the United Nations Building....the UN isn't doing anything with the investment.
Lol 😂😆 dangerous Lol 😂😆 are they crazy 🤣😧 this will help it grow bigger and be out of control 😅 some are going to force employees to talk 🦜 to the AGI to see 🙈 if you it's you cause voices can be matched using this kind of technology so imagine those who are learning transillumination for decades Lol 😂😆 boom a robot can do it in just a year 🎉 jobs lost 😅😮😢🎉😂
Why would you want automatically ai weapons , what are at war with space aliens lol 🤣 no need for weapons, like Dr Phil said monkeys with weapons guarding the cage there in , something like that
Every country is obviously gonna want it to get an advantage over other countries lol. So that means we’re all gonna have it, there isn’t any stopping it now. Maybe robots will die in war instead of people 🫡
Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; Psalms 9:17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God. Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. I believe some of these companies still hide some stuff, like government and military does.
This is just the surface though. There IS A LOT of information being kept secret.
Atlas's movement is much more human like than it was just a few months ago. It is almost reaching an uncanny valley feeling now.
Boston Dynamics will be the NVIDIA of the next decade.
Doubt it, they've been very slow in progress and unless they merge with a titan AI company they'll be left in the dust. They have the hardware but not the software
@@r34ct4 they still have the best bot even in 2024. Tesla is catching up but not quite there.
Boston Dynamics will be facing heated competition soon, so I doubt they'll get the same level of success Nvidia did.
Nvidia had the advantage of having a near monopoly
my vote is for tesla bot. that thing went from embarrasing garbage to pretty cool in like a year
Atlas needs some WiFi 6 or LTE and connect him to the AI cloud and just let him live his life!

I think we've all seen the Terminator movie.
Those’re the treasures of your country
Tesla bots are alot better. Check them out.
Beautifull
AI will absolutely replace human labor that is a certainty.
"Products made in America should be American when they leave the U.S. and American when they come back to the U.S.".......... WTF??? How does that make sense???
Where exactly is the AI in the Airport story? It looked like a database with searchable fields. They didn't specify any sort of modeling being used.
I think it's where a customer is able to enter a text description of an item and AI searches the thousands of pictures and data entries immediately. The AI doesn't replace the data input (yet) but does replace anyone having to read the customer's text description and match it to a stored image.

When Spot can't differentiate a stuffed penguin from a human you know it's not ready to tell a friendly from an enemy.
Why can’t the USA get Mexico to produce clothing from cotton, seems better and more sustainable than sending it to China!
Meta's sharing & language translation is way better than a fish in ones ear 👏😀
Boston Dynamics will be the birth of RoboCops in the future. Military will be putting a minigat gun, rocket launchers, stingers on them.....lol.
no doubt about it.
Naw 1x robot neo is going to be first

Everyone loves the idea of robots until they take your job & your employer doesn't need your services anymore!
I don't think it will happen, because if that is the case, no one will have money to buy the products and services these companies are selling. The economy will become completely stagnant. It just will not work.

ahhhh......Spot is used by several companies
Yes…show everyone how out of touch you are. They actually have military contracts as well, boomer.

I don't know about anybody else , but these robots terrify me . The potential for abuse is daunting 😢
I want an Atlas that can work 24-7 and all the paychecks go to my account, cook, clean and change the channel for me.
This is a repost. Seen it before.
old news and light on information.

Can see this technology replacing pets and soldiers.

The Chinese are the last ones who should have AI
You mean the CCP? Your comment is racist and I'm not sure you meant it to be that way.
見せてくれてありがとう❤
these tech is good and all, but it only benefit corporations and their CEO's whose own it, so ....
To people who stil breed:
You are bringing a knife to a gun fight.
War of the Machines is coming. Goodbye humanity. "I'll be back"- Arnold Schwarzenegger, Terminator series! No need to make human babies, make AI babies instead.
Open Source AI does not mean ripping off the Source. I'm the Source. I'm gathering armies to help Me counterattack My enemies in North America.
One day in the future it's going to be astronauts and that AI robot on an asteroid digging for precious rocks and metals on it.
Humanity won’t last long enough
They should teach him how to ski
Just don't ask the robot about George Washington 😎🏹
You lost me at lost items 😂
The excitement over this is so dystopian. This is all fun and games but we already know we cant trust our corporate citizens in this country. Dont forget that.
Too much shenanigans and Tom foolery with all this fancy technology. I miss the days when we use to pan for gold.
Terminator
atlas is just doing preprogrammed stuff. not impressed.
Robots will take over n to claim intelligence n unable to calculate this factor your intelligence should be questioned
