- Every week, thousands of people commute through Pakistan's capital Islamabad, but until recently there was no public transport.
The city just launched a public bus service, taking people along a 23km journey from Islamabad to Rawalpindi.
Al Jazeera's Nicole Johnston reports.

Comparison with Mumbai is challenging, as Mumbai has got more history and has thus seen more organic growth, which is always harder to plan.

Are you kidding ? Islamabad is a garrison city where mostly military people and politicians live and hence looks relatively decent. Lahore, Karachi, Peshwar are giant shitholes. Most areas in Pakistan dont even have basic facilities. lol

Islamabad looks so clean and green and with clean air and no pollution, also the city has the margalla mountains in the backdrop, giving it the serene looks, CDA should remove any hoarding from the city as they give a cluttered look to any city, including pole signs.
The time you realise that Pakistani Bus stop is thousand times cooler than India. lol Automatic gate in bus stop!! i dont remember seeing it anywhere in India.

Alpha Centauri Islamabad is a very small city with low population compared to other cities , if there was a need of a metro train service in islamabad we would have started it long time before metro bus service , other cities do have metro train

It's a BRT system featuring 27 stations along 27km of dedicated right of way. It doesn't have traffic lights, goes through purpose built tunnels and trenches. As your saw the stations were large, spacious and highly functional.
$500 million for a system that already moves 200,000 people a day over 27km is very cheap. For comparison, a motorway lane in the US costs $39~ million per lane km. That comes to only 12 km of lanes! And only 2,000 per hour in best traffic!
These are repainted buses from Turkey.Pakistani elite visit indoa often and were eembarrassed by the Kolkata Metro in india (started in 1984) and Delhi Metro started 1½ decades back, ( but Pakistan saw it on the internet when they had youtube (now banned to prevent them from seeing real pictures of india asia). So Pakistani elite made similar looking but fake bus and road "system " and called it metro. In reality Pakistan can't have real metro rail or mono rail or suburban rail network as in mumbai (largest in the world ) as they don't have electricity for running it nor do they have electric rail engines not electrified tracks. Their army and schools all focused on hate india identity and never on progress and bulding Pakistan, no hydroelectricity, no solar parks, no train engine manufactering, ...only dreams of how to destroy india.
