Thanks for the tutorial. I bought a used S3 Classic off of eBay for $20, got a new battery for < $10, and the battery life is like new. I like these watches because of the MST feature that the new ones don't have.
Great Video. Thanks for sharing. I was able to revive my Samsung S3 Frontier to its brand-new status once again. I had issues before replacing the battery, where it would be fully charged, and not able to last a full day. The day before I replaced the battery, it wouldn't even turn on. After 6 years, I guess the batteries life is complete. If I recharged it every night, that's over 2000 charges. I felt sad to part with the watch since it was still very functional. So glad that a simple battery replacement restored this watch to its original state. I suggest to follow the instruction very carefully. The pieces are extremely delicate, and you will need the right tools for the job. Thanks again for sharing this vide.
Thanks, great video. Just replaced my battery with no issues. Didn't realise how bad my old battery was. Lasted a couple of hours, then when put on charge shows approx 80% charge left. New battery fitted about 6hrs ago, and charge indicator hardly moved. Thanks again.
I know it's an old watch, but this video, helped me salvage a watch that a recently replaced for my wife. So she has a brand new latest model and I get a refurbished old model (but it's NEW to me and only cost me $15 for a new battery and a bit of frustration opening the case). THANK YOU SIR!!!
It seems us S3 community are all having our batteries die lol. Excellent video! I want to upgrade but am waiting for a gen 2 pixel watch. This should get me to whenever that releases!
I've done a bunch of screen and battery replacement on phones and tablets, and this looks so much easier. Just ordered a new battery for my S3, so thanks so much for the tutorial. Looks super easy!
About that flex cable....................so what do I do if it comes loose fro the board. I'm not convinced that it was properly attached BEFORE I began to remove the cover. So, any suggestions on how I can reattach?
I can't see that you have mentioned the best screwdrivers to use. The kit I was supplied with had poorly made screwdrivers. I found the case needed the Tri-point Y00 and the Board needed a Philips PH000. At a pinch, the case screws can get away with size Y0. Please correct me if I'm wrong. The 0.6 x 30mm tri-wing, which was supplied with the battery replacement kit, started to strip the heads rather. These were sourced from AE. If I had replaced from your link I imagine the correct tools would have been sent. Thanks for the video, it was very helpful
Thank you for taking the time to create and provide this video. I have a similar issue in that the digitizer is faulty on my wii u controller, screen is ok thankfully, will be attempting to replace the digitizer next week now, hopefully its as easy you've shown in your video. :D
also, you should use a plastic spludger/pry tool between battery and pcb, as you could damage pcb traces or any surface mounted components... (I have been doing laptop and pc repair for a long time, just my observations, not bashing, but hoping for anyone else that may be watching, this may be helpful to avoid possible damage to their watch or other electronic device.)
Dang, I'm having the problem that seems to be plagueing a lot of people with the gear s3 classic on the forums, where you replace the battery and the power button no longer works despite the screen working and updating battery percentage, and the back button turns on the screen to show the percentage, but the home button doesn't do anything, including turn on the watch.
@WeRepair i just looked up "gear s3 will charge but won't turn on after replacing battery" and the top link is a forum on IFixIt from 2019, and there's another forum from 2018. I'm hoping the connection just got bumped off when I was taking the first battery off, so I'm going to try to re-solder that and see if that fixes it. I was looking for a soldering project anyways, so we will see how it goes.
I did something wromg cause it does not turn on any more. Not with the old and not with the new battery. With the old it did work but the battery died within minutes. Now i cant turn on the watch at all any more with neither of the 2 batteries
hello there! does anybody know if when replacing the motherboard, the entire watch needs to be reprogrammed from an authorised service in order to make the new motherboard as an additional part to work with the other components of the watch and let it function properly? I was told so and I wonder if I can replace motherboard on my own or do I need to have that process done by Samsung inevitably....? thank you in advance!
@@WeRepair thank you for replying! I have disassembled the watch once before, and its electronics consists of following parts: 1. Screen 2. Battery 3. Motherboard. During the process, there are some cables that needed caution to get them disconnected, but other than that, I didn’t meet any other difficulty (as far as I remember). I see on online market sellers selling the whole spare part having motherboard, waiting to be connected only with other two mentioned parts above. Is it like that?
I was able to remove 3 of the screws easily, but the 4th screw will not come out. Can anyone give me advice on how to get it out? I tried a drop of lubricant oil but still nothing.
Yeah the battery only lasts a little over a year or so in these. I'm surprised they don't make it easier to replace the battery, also why no rubber seal inside to keep the water resistance, seems like a poor design. I had to replace the battery in a moto 360 back in the day and it had gasket.
Fortunately the replacement kit only cost me $12. Unfortunately the two side small ribbon connections broke a d my new battery is worthless. Oh well. The watch lasted me 7 years, which is pretty awesome for a piece of tech these days. Cant really complain.
Thank you so much. I have the same watch sumsung S3. I suspect that the battery needs replacement. Because i have used it for more then six years. How much is the battery and how an i get it? I am from Kenya.
@WeRepair it was all my fault, I deformed the back cover by not being able to remove the one screw that's right by the charging contacts, thanks for reaching out
Good, simple instructions. However, the annoying background music is completely unnecessary, and annoying. Also, wearing a glove on the hand holding the watch is a good idea to prevent jamming a sharp tool into your flesh, if the tool were to slip off its intended spot.
Thanks for the tutorial. I bought a used S3 Classic off of eBay for $20, got a new battery for < $10, and the battery life is like new.
I like these watches because of the MST feature that the new ones don't have.
You are welcome 😁
MST?
Hi great video on battery replacement. I now have the new battery but can you tell me which size/ type screwdrivers to buy please. Many thanks

Thanks mate, I went from wondering how bad it was going to be, to completely done in minutes. Works great now.
No problem 👍

Yes very straightforward
You're video helped get through the battery replacement more than the others out there. Thanks!😊
Great to hear!
your directions were spot on....thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Just followedyour instructions perfect thankyou saved me buying a new watch merry Christmas 🎅

Yea the screwdrivers that come with the kits are usually terrible 😞
Good information in an easy to understand format. Inspires confidence that I could do this myself,
Please ask any questions if you get stuck, it's quite straight forward
I'll give it a try see if it works thanks for the info👍🏽 7:17
Just finished replacing my battery. Thanks for the guide.
Welcome 😁
That was a Great tutorial for me to try! Made it look easy. Hopefully I will be half as good! Ty
Glad to have helped 🤠
Thank you got mine done in 5 minutes, now on charge, fingers crossed Bill
Glad to be of service 😊
Thank you for the very clear instructions! Much appreciated. 👍
Most welcome 😁
Followed this step by step and it worked perfectly - Thanks!
No problem 😁
Thanks a lot for the great video. Just replaced my battery using it. Worked like a charm 🙂👍
Glad it helped
Thank you so much! Perfect idea to just follow along. Got me a 520mAh Super High Capacity in mine now. Thank you! Cheers from Belgium.
Excellent work 👍
Thank you for taking the time to create and provide this video.

Yep, it's very straightforward. Good luck 🤞
my daily is working again, thank you so much!
You're welcome!
Thanks!
Thank you 🙏
Hey 👋 Just to say, Big thanks for the great Vid for this Samsung S3 watch ! So easy to follow and REALLY helpful 👍 🍻
Most welcome 🤗
Great video. Unfortunately popped the small flex while trying to break the glue on the battery free. So I think I have to call the watch dead now.
Does anyone know if models R765A and R765 use the same battery?? Most i see just say R765, but i have R765A

Yes, fair comment

Ja, das ist in Ordnung, hat aber bei mir nicht funktioniert, daher habe ich die Batterie ausgetauscht
Just did mine. Great to have new batt. :)

I have replaced several of these now and have never experienced this issue.

You can do it on your own but it's a very tricky process. The parts are all universal so there are no restrictions on changing it.

thank you for replying. Are you sure that when I replace motherboard, the watch doesn't need to get reprogrammed by sumsung service? @@WeRepair
Is this the same repair as on the frontier version of this watch?
It's similar yes, hope to post a video soon
Excellent Video! 😊
Welcome 🤗
I broke the ribbon to my motherboard 😮😮. Big mistake. Any suggestions
I was able to remove 3 of the screws easily, but the 4th screw will not come out. Can anyone give me advice on how to get it out? I tried a drop of lubricant oil but still nothing.
Look for something called screw grip, it will help.
@WeRepair thank you. Unfortunately the flex came off, how can I attach it back on?

Pretty standard for Samsung unfortunately

Sorry to hear that. Good excuse to upgrade though.
Does this remove the water resistance?
Yes it will
Thanks a lot, just did it myself 😀😀
Glad to have helped 😊
TERRIFIC INSTRUCTIONS!!! Awesome teacher 👏 ❤
Whats the battery size and specs?
If you hop on to the replace base site the battery and detail is on there
Excellent guide! Thanks so much for having something easy to follow along with!
Very welcome 😁

Thank you so much for the video!
You are so welcome!
Use a heatgun if you have one to loosen the adhesive.
Agreed 👍
Thanks I appreciate the video very informative and right on the money
Glad to have helped ☺️
My Gear S3 keeps going to a black screen, the battery appears to charge, how can you be certain the issue is the battery?
I have the same issue with my watch, please help
Thank you!
My no longer charges after the replacement: (
Sounds like you might have a duff battery; what happens if you put the old one back in?
@WeRepair it was all my fault, I deformed the back cover by not being able to remove the one screw that's right by the charging contacts, thanks for reaching out
Gonna try with my wife’s watch thanks
Good luck 🤞
Worked, thanks =)
You're welcome!
it would be nice if someone can go through the steps and speak them as you disassemble the watch please
great job
No battery in my country kenya,
I broke my cable 😭 such a good video but
Yep we’ve all been there 😭
@We Repair got new cable ordered back on go soon 🤞
Fingers crossed for you 😍🤞
hay que reponer el pegamento...¡
Yes would be advised
Good, simple instructions. However, the annoying background music is completely unnecessary, and annoying.
Also, wearing a glove on the hand holding the watch is a good idea to prevent jamming a sharp tool into your flesh, if the tool were to slip off its intended spot.
Thank you for the feedback, I have been in two minds over the music for a long time so will take it out. Point taken over the glove 🥊
I'm gonna be one of them people who broke the small ribbon that should have been careful not to break 🤦♂️ and fixes for it?
could you use a hair dryer to heat up/soften the glue (carefully), under the back plate?
I tried that on the next one I did but it didn't seem to make a lot of difference
Thanks!
Then you 🤗
Thanks!
Thank you 😊🙏
