War of the Roses : The Hotel Key

Curtis was getting a piece of Dentyne out of Madison, his fiancé's purse and he found a hotel key for the Marriot. He asked her about it and she swore she also has no idea.

Take it back to the hotel and have them scan it and it will tell you the date of that stay and who rented that room.

Why can't they both go back to the hotel listed on the key card and just ASK when this said key card was issued last and to WHOM??

Maybe Curtis put it there because he wanted an excuse to test her before they got married but didn"t have any legit reasons so he made one up.
