Hinduism itself is divided into different sects like Vaishnavism and Shaktism etc. This is the Vaishnavism sect where there is less prevalence of rituals and other practices and the main focus is on devotion to God through songs and all. It's quite peaceful comparative to mainstream Hinduism.

Naam dharma is sect of Hinduism started by Shankar dev in 1400s . Worshipping statue is prohibited . No Brahmin is required to be the priests. Temple of Naam Dharma is called " Naam Ghar". Chanting name of god " Narayan " one can reach God. "Bor Geet" is devotional song sung at d naam Ghar.

Hi Pierre: Merry Christmas to you and your family! Very nice vlog exploring Majuli river island. Although I lived in Assam for just over 5 years, never got a chance to visit Majuli. Obviously, the mask maker is very skilled at what he does and the whole place gives a vibe of tranquility amid the chaos usually found in India. I was very impressed with the local lady who now lives in Washington D.C., who explained everything in an articulate manner.

One part of the East you should not miss is the mangrove forests of the Sundarbans, home of the Royal Bengal Tiger and straddling West Bengal and Bangladesh. One of the most ecologically rich places on earth comprising innumerable islands, It is as unique as the Amazon forests.

The satras are not just hindu monasteries, but centres of traditional performing arts, culture, devotional song. Sattra are creator one of Indian National Dance form "Sattriya Dance". It also gave birth to beautiful Assamese folk devotional song "Borgeet" that describes greatness of Lord Vishnu ( Krishna). The great message created by Saint Sankardev that there is supreme of all Lord Vishnu, devotees can pray him through serving humanity and popularising God greatness through Art n Culture of community only. This something unique of Vaishnavite culture of this part of India.
