The US Open is the final Grand Slam of the year and takes place at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The 2022 US Open saw Spain's Carlos Alcaraz and Poland's Iga Swiatek claim the men's and women's singles titles. It was both players' first US Open title, with Alcaraz claiming his first Grand Slam title and Swiatek claiming her third Grand Slam title. The 2023 US Open main draw is scheduled to go ahead between August 28 - September 10. Rewatching after Jannik took a rocket to stardom and the improvements he made since he played this amazing match is astounding. I knew he had gotten better, but watching this match after the AO final and the Miami final really puts things into perspective. That’s where dedication and hard work takes you, I guess.

could be argued that this is one of the top 10, perhaps top 5 tennis matches of ALL TIME. Both guys wanted it SO bad. Absolutely worth losing several hours of sleep to witness this absolute EPIC. Highlight after highlight. Latest finish ever. Patrick McEnroe for ESPN said this is the most full he had ever seen Ashe past 2AM, including the previous latest finishes in history.

Sinner was Alcaraz’s toughest opponent at the US Open. This match literally could’ve gone either way. You can’t say that for the other matches Alcaraz played.

Considering the speed, aggressive shot making and intensity of the match, this is the greatest tennis match ever.
Man, it was like whoever dropped the ball a inch short immediately went on the defensive. This was literally offense--defense--offense. They didn't allow each other to even breathe for a second.

This is hands down the greatest match I've ever seen in my life! I can't recall the last time I saw a match where both players were this athletic and this creative (and ingenious with their shot selection) while striking the ball so cleanly for pretty much the entire duration of the match. This, for me, was the unofficial final of the US Open 2022. It's a shame that Sinner was only awarded quarterfinalist points and prize money after this performance. If he had ended up on the other side of the draw, he would've almost certainly made it to the final.

First time watching Sinner and I'm impressed by his smooth moves. 😮
Those are robotic moves not smooth..
I couldn't believe how Alcaraz saved match points and break points when he was under massive pressure. Sinner on the other hand made a lot of unforced errors in those occasions.
Sinner was devastated after the match. I think he thought he should've won but he lost because of his own mistakes. That's difficult to accept for a player this young.
but i mean he also almost won because of carlos’s mistakes. Carlos had some chances to make this match a lot shorter.

Por cierto. Dejando a un lado una futura rivalidad legendaria y además de ser el mejor partido del año (más emocional el Australia Open pero este de mucho mayor nivel tenístico), ya está bien con Nike.
Todo el torneo excepto si juega Tiafoe desgranando qué jugador es cuál. Un diseño igualitario, confuso, con colores horribles, además que, Carlitos cómo número 1 y máxima estrella de la Next Gen se merece un atuendo individual. Es mala pata que su primer Gran Slam (conseguirá muchos más) aparezca su foto con ese horrible atuendo que parece un pijama.

This match was incredible at the tennis level really, but we saw the mental shortcomings of Sinner in this match, Alcaraz mentally did not collapse mentally if there is a comparison to ne made between these two players, the mentality is on Carlitos’ side for me, even if Sinner won the Australian Open.
I would say that Sinner has mentally closed the gap with Alcaraz especially with his current run right now. I don’t see Sinner as nervous as before. And winning the AO title will allow him to be calmer now in pressure situations.
The one thing that Alcaraz will always have the advantage over Sinner is that is that extra gear physically. When Alcaraz has the momentum or he is playing at his highest gear, then he is hard to beat even for Sinner.
