- There tend to be many accidents where cars are submerged during periods of heavy rain, such as when you get caught in a flooded lane during sudden heavy rainfall or a typhoon.
What happens if your car is submerged in these circumstances?
If the worst happens and you’re trapped inside the car, what’s the best way to escape?
See how the car is submerged from a fellow passenger’s perspective in this VR video that allows vision in 360 degrees!

That tells me the electrical system was still working. First thing I would’ve done is unroll the window and get out BEFORE the water level got so high that it wouldn’t work. Another option is a sunroof, if your car has one like mine does. That would make this a lot easier. Or heck, even out the rear tailgate/hatchback.
🤣🤣🤣
Folks, always remember to take out the head rest and use the metal pegs to break windows. This is also what should have been demonstrated in the video.
Or wind the windows down seems the wipers work so just put the windows down and get out pretty easy
And aim for the edges of he window not the center, the center is the strongest part of the car windows.
@@WtfAreYouGonnaDo wait thats illegal
Wow thank you gabby
In some models of cars, the headrest is held with a mechanism which requires a really small tool pushed into a recessed hole to fully remove it from the seat. Ford Fiesta for example uses this mechanism, at least on the European model.
Anything strong with a sharp point to it can break the glass. A shard of ceramic from a spark plug is often used by criminals due to the breaking characteristics of car window glass. Whatever you use, make sure it's as pointy as you can find, and strike the glass as close to the wingmirror as possible.
Literally just sits there while car is sinking: this is fine
And then used an actual escape tool… like bro the headrest’s metal bars???
@@OzZVidz You can easily use spark plug fragment to break car's window
@@ibnuizzan6490 Yeah a guy on a bridge tried to assault us using a spark plug to break the window.
Try getting out when its upside down and your dazed from the impact, this is a pisstake....
I was thinking the wipers are still running roll the window down and get out before it goes fury
You ought to mention that the metal posts of the head restraints can be used as an escape tool. The head restraint is simply pulled up and out using the release button. The corner of toughened glass window is the best place to strike with coaxial force to shatter it.
What 1960s car are you driving, that you can easily remove head rest?? No way your average muscle is removing head rest from todays car that have auto adjustments for head restraints
@@beigefox6579actually most modern head rests can be removed pretty easily, you just press the button on the side like you are adjusting It but pull it all the way out
@@RRLV434 Technically you can remove any part of a car, but likely not an easy thing in new cars, and I'm 100% sure pushing a button for couple of seconds that may have already short-circuited under water while panicking is likely not a considerable option.

Just in case this does happen to you and you dont have an escape tool use a headrest to smash the window
Or put the window down. Most 12 volt systems will keep functioning normal for a bit. As we can see wipers still going. Just my 2 cents.
Detroit Smash
Also couple tips: Using Escape tools or headrest always go for the sides of the window to break them easier. Once broke you are not done, use the tool or headrest to clear glass/sharp edges to not cut yourself. Second to last since the car dives forward because of the weight of the engine if your car has a fold down back set or able to get out the trunk/tailgate this is possible since water pressure is currently not pushing against them. Last resort if you cant break the window you need to stay completely calm since you need to hold your breath until you can open the door when the pressure equalizes which is when all of the air is out of the car.
Not all cars have detachable headrests of front seats. My Kia Cee'd doesn't because of some safety feature inside the seats. Better to check it in advance.

Elderly couple just sadly drowned 1 mile from me. Phoned police from car as river trent in England took them. Terrible! Keep safe everyone, we all go by the grace of God.
Excellent advises! Now in most situations the car falls into something much deeper and sinks rapidly adding another pressure issue for a swimmer trying to get back to the surface. Act calmly but don't loose too much time either, otherwise the way up could be too long.
I don't even know how to swim, so I would be screwed.
This video was probably made for Japanese civilian training, so the most common scenario wouldn't be a drop into a body of water, it would be a roll into a body of water while trying to escape a sudden and violent flood, like in the video. Monsoon season is a bitch in Japan and obviously they had the 2011 Tsunami that sank whole towns. While it's obviously a net good to put this video online for others to watch, it's application would be pretty limited in other parts of the world, I think.
@Ronaldo-ue5if wtf does your ''allah'' have to do with this ?!? Keep your beliefs for yourself, it's none of our business.
Side note - the metal pieces used to plug your head rest into the top of your seat are meant to be able to break your car window if you don't have a tool readily available in your car. Also, if for whatever reason you are unable to break your car window, wait for the car to fill with water on the inside, and to be fully submerged on the outside. Pressure on each side of the door will become equal and the door can be opened again. And this should go without saying, but don't do that last one unless you don't have another option.
